I made up my mind that when my late husband had passed that if I did meet someone that I would never allow myself to ever get that romantically with another man again but remain only friends with him .Of which I've done.

It's a complete mystery, but I'll take a stab at it. It's easier than ever to stay single in this modern age. Women have their own incomes, they are not reliant on men for support as much as in the past. Men are influenced by the materialism of the age, they would rather have the fancy car, an exotic summer holiday, plus a ski holiday in winter, than be saddled with a miserable wife, and a few screaming kids. it's all about independence (and selfishness). Have past relationships affected your ability to trust , or are you so guarded & self- sufficient anything else ruin that safety of your own environment.
