To put it simply for me no it shouldnt.
Lets feed the starving...house the homeless and care for the sectors who are vulnerable.

If we are to save the planet lets make sure that who inhabit it have the same chances the same privileges and the same rights.

Otherwise whats the point in saving a planet thats unbearable for half to live in.

Yea. But the economy is setup to borrow money and make impulse purchases, we don't normally care like we care about cars which to be fair are a good example of what happens when we apply ourselves more. I'm frankly delighted with the miles we get to a gallon.

Should climate change be taken seriously and be prioritized?
Climate change has continuously been happening since the time of earth. Should it be taken seriously and prioritized, I believe it should be taken serious. Prioritizing would be to just try and make it through the changes. I would hate to see the human race become extinct as so many things have thru out the centuries. I also believe we cause a lot of harm on this planet and we might want to stop that. We are the care givers not the owner.
blues I believe many of the changes are from our destruction. We have not learned to live as one with the earth. We have not come in peace and we do not respect the land. There is hope I seen on the news these very young children protesting yesterday in an articulate manner. So along the way someone has done something right. These are our new future care givers. This is not something money can buy this is something that would take a drastic change in future behavior. This is just my opinion. wine

Should climate change be taken seriously and be prioritized?
top priority - there is scientific evidence that the climate is changing and also evidence that human activity is the major cause of the climate change ..

Ordinary people can do little to nothing. Protesting around and refusing to use plastic bags and then going on a journey by plane (while doing a lot more damage) is a little silly, truth to be told.

After having a 33-year career in environmental science in air quality control on the regulation side, where real science was applied to achieve national air quality standards, I unequivocally, do not believe that the so called ‘climate change’ issue should be considered the most dangerous threat to life on planet earth.

I believe it should be yes...but not on a small scale...tackle the bigger scale polluters like businesses and until that is done cutting car emissions and getting rid of straws isn't gonna really make a dent....wave

I have heard that this is a human caused issue but I hear other things that say different. I just have to wonder about the changes such as glaciers melting, etc and I feel we do have a problem, but what do I know.

I can understand that, it seems to be a fact but even if I can do a little something like recycle, etc. I figure it's not doing any harm.peace

That's quite a resume you have. I am very interested in learning more and more on this issue and that's why I created this thread. I like to hear everyone's opinions/comments. Maybe climate change is not THE most biggest threat.

Hi wave

I agree with you to a point. I wholly agree that as people of this Earth we should take better care of our environment. This is our home.

I know a couple who are having marriage problems. After 12 years of marriage one day out of the blue she tells her husband that she is unhappy and might want a divorce. He is shocked beyond belief to hear that she is unhappy. His exact words were .... I never gave it a thought that you are unhappy. We do things together and you never act that something is wrong. She then tells him what is wrong and what she needs in the marriage.

The point of this story is that 30 years ago we never gave a thought to our Earth decaying from plastic bags. I mean, you wouldn't have thunk that would ya? Now we know that all this plastic is a huge problem. It's just one example. We have been told how to fix the problem. Al Gore told you. He told me but I still keep using plastic bags.

My daughter is adamant about using cloth grocery bags so that she doesn't have to use the store's plastic bags. I commented that she still uses plastic bags for the kitchen garbage can. She says every little bit of plastic that we don't use will help to correct the environment. I wonder.

The plastic garbage in the ocean could be detrimental to our health if the fish eat it (reports have shown that they do) and we eat the fish. There are carcinogens in plastic. Plastic is made from the same oil that you put in your gas tank mumbling

I remember the days when we used paper bags for groceries, that pretty dress we bought in the store, our lunch that we carried to school, the candy we handed out on Halloween.

I am at fault when it comes to not using plastic bags because I don't want that chicken grease or that spaghetti grease all over my kitchen floor when I take the paper bag to the trash can outside.

I will try to be a better citizen and take care of the environment around me hmmm

I agree, something big has to happen but I still think that even if we try on a smaller scale, it couldn't hurt.cheers
