galrads: My home is heated with natural gas. I tried to use a heated blanket but I don’t like anything much other than a bed sheet on me while sleeping.
Gal, what you need is natural warmth. A tropical vacation would end all your thermostat worries so...........................Come on down!
I don't actually know what temperature my house is . All I know is that I keep it toasty warm. Warm enough so I can wear a tshirt and still be warm. Its summer inside and winter outside is how I like it.

Wood stove! Grew up with oil heat set to 70. Always cold. Old house with oil space heater..sit on to not freeze. Then new husband said wood stove. And he set up an old cabinet space heater. Warmer, but old house meant fill lots. One winter had 35 below night after night. Waiting for bricks to freeze so heat wouldnt leak out. Told him he had to work..I do stove at night. Every hour, get up, put on wood. I told him after a few days he would get up one morning, find stove gone out and a chunk of wood in the frig. Get wood, open door, put in wood, stagger back to bed. Get up..over and over. Finally the bricks froze and could feel heat reflecting back into room. Added gas furnace finally outside of kitchen wall in a tiny room we added on. Moved up to main house. Add on in basement. Now outside forced air wood furnace. Never was warm in this house with oil. Warm with wood. Never be without wood heat. Why? Who knows..just the warmest heat source.

I love your sense of humour as I have the decades I have known you, if I don't talk to you before"happy Christmas.
bodleing2: -6c outside, probably about 8c inside until I put the heating on in the evening, then like I said, aoround 16c indoors by 9pm. Those have been the typical temps for the last couple of weeks, up to 15c outside tomorrow.
My flat hasn't gone below 9C despite snow on the ground for a week. I have a wee fan heater in case it gets really cold, but haven't needed it yet.
It's currently 12C outside, 15C inside which is perfect.
We are currently at a time of climate crisis where we are close to ecological tipping points of no return, but we still have a slither of hope of clawing back before it's too late.
We should all be aiming to reduce our CO2 emissions by 50% 2020-2030 to keep the planet habitable for future generations.
It will be the legacy of our generation, one way, or another.
Breaking Boundaries: The Science of Our Planet, a documentary featuring David Attenborough and Johan Rockström is available Netflix. It should be available everywhere.
