ttom500: I watched the John McCain town hall event. He had invited Barak Obama to attend, but Barak could not.
McCain does well in these small forums and with the TV of it....it gets out to millions. Out numbers, Barak's large campaign rallies even. Barak needs to attend them for that reason alone.
MCCain was even open to adding in some of the minor party canidates into them....so is giving everyone a chance to speak in them.
Toward the end town hall, McCain talks of how a mother who had lost a son in Iraq had given him a copper wrist braclet with his name on it. Then said to Sen. McCain "don't let my son die in vain." McCain assured her that he would not. But this got me to thinking.
The present security agreement negotiations between the US and Iraq are at a standstill and deadlock. If they are not signed by the 1st of the year, I suspect you will see a massive withdawl of US forces coming home. Coming after the new President takes office on Jan.20th of the new year.
If Obama is President, does any see mission accomplished and parades in New City and Washington with flags and cheering for them? Pretty hard to give them that kind of home coming, when he has been so vocal and critical of the war, his no vote, and wrong war, wrong time comments. I think he would bring them home quietly and in disgrace.jmo
Don't they deserve more than that?
They replaced a brutal dicator in Sadam, brought him to justice for his crimes against the Iraqi people, gave the Iraqi people a new democratic government, helped to secure it elections, and have tried to keep the violence and deathes to a minimum there....by often risking thier own lives.
Did they do it perfectly? No...there was abu Grail and there were some civilian deathes and crimes to their operations and presence. But they accomplished so much more than these negatives while there. I suggest on the balance scale of honor and dishonor, there is more on the honor side than on the dishonor side of the scale.
Yet if Barak Obama is President when if this possible hasty withdrawl occurs in January or a longer ordered withdrawl is issues.....my feeling is they will come home without the Military Honors fitting to what they accomplished. He cannot do both as President....to criticize their Iraq presence and to give them Military Honors, that only he as President can extend. It is totally hypocritical of him if does. And will set a bad presidence for his new adminsitration.
Just the way it is, if Obama is President in January.
The only way Iraq becomes a better country little by little is when foreign troops leaving the country and iraqis them selves taking over....
There is no Glory a bout Iraq war as lonn as the occupation goes on and exactly as in Vietnam Americans must leave so the country finds its own way to gain a peace some day.
Dont worry a bout "feelings" this much TT....be sure those more than a million iraqis this occupation has cost has created a lot more negative feelings amoung poor iraqis who never ever asked for this mass killings of them! So if some few american military personal getting "disapointed" because they get order to with draw I am totaly certain I will be totaly ok with that tog ether with billions of other human beings! Be sure the same "dispointed" soldiers and so on will be much more happy grilling with their families in America and sane and halthy and with their body intact raising a family!
When America stayed in Vietnam......25 years resulted in not a thing....When they left Vietnam had some years of trouble then it became all right. Be sure Iraq will heal much earlier when America leaves!

What was it, 4 million slaughtered in Indo-china after we left. Just a mere bleep on the radar~
rasgumby: Keep your $$$$ you are going to need it to pay off all of the rest that you have made this bet with.. and you will need any change to buy tissues
He'll need the money to pay the tax increase. Sorry Mr. Ras...couldn't resist this one time.
Conrad73: Access to a Wealth of Oil,when most (90%9 of the Oil-Contracts went to Europe and Elsewhere
Specially to european countries who did not participated in mass killings of iraqis directly and indirectly as well! That,s why when America wants to become a world police, then those on power in America must know much more a bout the cultur and people tehm selves in the areas they want to "democratise" and thats why a Bush like will never ever be able to create real peace in the middle east or makes sure good flow of oil supplyment in the western world so prices not rising as crazy as it has become because of the Bushney,s in the White House and not a damn thing else!

How long did you meet w/Putin? It didn't seem like you were gone that long.
Hot_Single_Dude: November will be Very Very Interesting in deed it seems like TT.....
A week only and so much great developments........
Increadible in deed..when Americans Really decide to fight back they do it great!
Gee... It's too bad Bill Clinton didn't take Bin Laden when he was offered him on a plate and advised to do so. If Bin Laden hadn't masterminded 9/11, we wouldn't be in this situation to begin with.
Hot_Single_Dude: Interesting teories in deed Indy but not right as usual!
Good new picture of you Indy!
when I was away ....only a week fabulous happenings made me smile wide and now with my man......Albert Gore on Obama,s side the undertaker McCain gets more trouble than before!
Good to be back a day after this fabulous event in deed!
Fabulous to see Al Gore choosed to take part in this great avent in deed!OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Al Gore endorsement is Huge Indyfella! Now I am wonder what "important" personality is going ot endorse McCain soon......lets see..... Frankenshtein or....Dr. Kavokrkian or ?
Welcome back Dude, sound like you had a good time. You will have to tell us about the vacation some time.
But right now.....I got a article here that says the Dem did not get the bump that they expected with Obama's nomination. Opps....the old man crept in thier and got a few of those Hillary voters that were upset with Obama.
Hey Al Gore endorse ment may mean something in Europe. But the last time they voted here in the US....was....prior to 1776. Yes, I think that it is right.:-) I think that they will need to voter cards to vote this year.:-)
Obama is talking about going to Iraq. How about that? Going to talk to Maliki....and not our General in charge and our troops....from what I hear. Interesting indeed.
McCain beginning is beginning to support offshore drilling.......and with the prices where it is.....the voter likes the idea. McCain want to let the states decide to decide. Florida will be drilling in no time at all.....
And we got a bunch of oil, baby!
Also my dear friend........time to check out a new bio fuel source....... it gives more oil than either corn (10 X) or soy (4 X).....run a search on a plant called 'jatropha'. The economics are.....average cost of a barrell.....$43.....can be planted in sand soils, dual cropped with citurs and other crops, and does not need refinement to be used with disiel fuel. Aver yield per acre......2,200 gallons......dual cropped....1,100 gallons.
Shifting some of our acreage to it....means we can produce still food (for export).....corn, soy and others.....and a bio fuel.......experimental farm in Florida with it now. Keep you posted on them. Also get ready for it.....we had major flooding in the midwest....lost at least 10% of the corn crop....get ready for some price increases.
Lastly a real division is occurring between Obama and McCain on terrorist rights. Obama supports a recent Supreme court decision giving them more rights and to be tried in a civil court. Which is totally crazy. They are para military forces.....all the way. No terrorism is a act of violence against humanity, not a civil act like murder or robbery. By placing them into civil courts, we are force to give up our intelligence gathering techniques. People, there are only so many of them.....once they are divulged....you don't get them back.... and you become blind and deaf again.
Welcome back...Indy was considering to place your photo on milk containers in Europe to find you.

Indyfella: But what I really want to know is..........will Dude be in the background holding up "Change" signs? That's the question???
I am sure if Obama is going to be the next president in America he will travel to Denmark as well some day ....and he will receive a great amount of admiration and applause from tens of tousands of happy danes and I will surely be amoung those with great honor listening to his words. Exactly like when Bill Clinton paida visit to Denmark some years a go.....such a great day it was....but Obama,s visit will be much greater day I am certain.
I am not sure Obama wants to visit Denmark right now.....there are some ideologichal diffenreces with the current government in DK which make that trip unneccesary I think, and beside he has a very busy schegual and will visit bigger countries I guess.
Actually he is going to visit Iraq as well , soon as possible as anounced.
opalbeauty: ttom, Indy, condrad, you guys have had a long time to connect the dots, dashes and commas and you're still living in 2000 in denial with warped data. I tire of argueing about what has already been proven but SHD is a patient man with his patients.
Hi Opal beauty........Good to see you
So sad your beautiful picture is not here with your words
You are totaly right.....they live in the past and have not realised the whole world has gone furter.......
it really is that bad. NO MORE WAR! WAR IS TERRORISM
BRING OUR SOLDIERS HOME, they were lied to and put in harms way. Bush and the whole bunch of neo-cons are a disgrace to America. And Bush is a moron. You guys should get this by now.
Hot_Single_Dude: Bring then home.......there has been enough death
Tell that to the other guys, Dude...they just had a truck bomb attack in Iraq that killed 51 at least. A Prison break out in Afghanistan and get this they holding the ground waiting for the Afghan and Nato forces to fight them. This might be a 'last stand' for foreign fighters in Afghanistan. Then it will be Taliban and Mushadeen.......
Things are getting hot in Afghanistan again.
GWB is making a phone call to Congress, on off shore drilling. Bet he is going to suggest it is time to change policy and to drill, drill, drill.......
