Our Marriage...Our Joy
chris & katie
the secret of happiness?
why, there's no secret at all
all any need do is answer love's call
but, what does that mean?
where do we begin?
just share the love through thick and through thin
now wed, we have become as one
we're ever conscious of it
we embrace this firm resolve
that our lives will now be perfect
should doubt occur, that may invite regret
we'll stand strong together, no thought of fret
for dark clouds become clear weather
...and true love tends to forget
friends will come and friends will go
but they shall never alter our vow
the bond we share will only grow
such joy is in us now
to live atop a castle or in a tent out in the rain
indeed makes little difference
'we'll harmonize in sweet refrain'
our covenant shall always remain
should our money be stacked by millions
or own nary a stack at all
with our backs against the wall
doesn't matter now and never will
we have something one could never buy
the greatest treasure of all
a man who loves a woman
a woman who loves a man
our joy will last forever
our faith shall e'er withstand
oh, of lucky few, we've found the love
our hearts are now aflame
we embrace it and protect it
we'll always feel the same
our foundation strong of communication
closer companions you'll never find
we know how to say 'I'm sorry'
and to share what's on our mind
never generalize and never assume
as partners, we do so in kind
actually listen to what our love has to say
and think before we respond
be sensitive to one another
and this will seal our bond
talk to each other about our day
our feelings, our thoughts, our hopes, our fears
ease one another, let our love pave the way
for finding fairground throughout the years
with passion and responsibility
we don our wedding band
to protect our wondrous love
as we walk across this land
should the rain blow in our faces
and it looks like stormy weather
we need only laugh, we need only smile
our hands wrapped tight together
for when we stand as one
only good things will come
and it shall be this way forever....
