ode to Cacao

oh you piquant bitter violet bean
to sweeten my life, tasteful, obscene

life's foibles don't matter somehow
with the semi-sweet taste of fine cacao

you haunt millions of mouthy minds
with your dark and creamy dreams

milking desire for all it's worth
everyone want's you in to them

at the dinner table maybe or after
by the warming flames of fire hearthed

even better to be slid into in bed
tongue in mouth, eyes closed, senses

alive with your pleasure, oh Chocolat
next you'll know, my deepest addiction

oh, but there's a dingy aftertaste to this
Côte d'Ivoire with children slaving

on equatorial sun beaten fields to feed
rested humanities satiation of Cacao

Hi Dave

I guess you are a fully paid up chocaholic, you have just made my post lunch coffee taste quite bland by comparison...

I may feel a little smug...I don't drink coffee, rarely eat chocolate or anything based on that bean, but that is hardly helping the children.....Niah.cool sad flower

cacao, who'd have thought that an ode could be dedicated to it, so original, loved it Goodguy!

Oh, the Mellifluous satiety of the physical realm where every pleasure seemingly results in suffering. Delicious write, moreish.
