SCREAM!
A human being on the brink,
A heart opened,
A heart broken,
A frozen anguished moment, too painful to think.
Hands clasped to each side of face,
Imaginary fingers in imaginary ears,
Mouth and eyes wide, streaming invisible tears,
A sister spirit, certified, petrified, mental case.
So worried of the “Disease” you see,
He caught in brush strokes her tormented soul,
Reflected in empty eyes, blacker than coal
Afraid he too had inherited the family insanity.
All against red sunset backdrop seen,
Heard....
A Haunting..... Deafening......Silent.......

About this poem:
The Scream....A picture by Edvard Munch, on view at Southerby's London this week prior to being sold, one of four. A picture I have seen once and to be honest was that disturbing to me that I never want to see it again, none the less an undisputed work of genius.

Loved your poem....here's the picture it's based on:
I agree it is such a disturbing vision.

Yes your poem depicts this picture so well, I wonder how many people suffer this silent scream without having a mental illness. The picture is haunting but the art picking up this emotion is so well done, as does your poem.
Hope you are well.
Your poem is really good and passes on that almost unmentionable fear of insanity that I'm sure everyone dreads.
