Summer (Part 4 Lightning Bugs)

When night falls
All colors fade
Like old flags
Worn still wave
Some lightning bugs
Lift off the ground
Little lights arrayed
Flicker and lags
Courtship's dance
Zigs and zags
Made and made

Yankee - this is just my favourite of your Summer series, I so adore the lightning bugs and their up and down dance searching for their mates in the dark. Robert drove me to a field and turned off the lights so that I could get the full experience, I was never so delighted by a 'fly' laugh
Your poem brought back the image of their movements straight away and put a smile on my face. Thanks for sharing this lovely poem.

Thanks LadyB....one of my favorite things to do is catch about a dozen fireflies in an old blue or green or red canning jars and then watch them light up inside....amazing little creatures...
