afternoon hues

as the sun sets over maori land
there is something so beautiful so grand
the hustle of the city way down below
lays bathed in the arms of the afternoon glow

clouds they slow the brightness pass
as they roll across and take grasp
severing the sun into two
doubling the vision and the view

orange is the reflection of harbours way
its creeping across and having its say
creating a shimmer of natural light
while i watch my lady with delight

relaxed i sit and drink it all in
sipping intently garnishing my grin
a beautiful view for all too see
on top of mt victoria where the air is free

afternoon hues paint the sky
colours i've never seen in a pastels eye
sketched by a hand of gentle intent
from the sky to the sea and the land that went....
