RIP dod: 9/17/2017
God has a new Angel in Heaven today
Leaving his poetry friends astray
Lost without our Castle leader Café
The knights are sad and the maidens afraid
Café Jim brightened all our days with fun
He also strengthened our Spirits with love
He never judged but treated everyone equally
Giving his friendship and his love freely
Greatly missed in this corner of the world
You were one of God’s rare black pearls
Heaven has gained a wonderful Knight
The Castles up there will surely come alive
To all our loved ones in Heaven watch out above
Café Jim is there now – surround him with love
If you wonder how you might find him up there
Look for an Angel with a Halo slightly bent over his ear
Love - Godprincess and all your friends at CS Poetry Corner

Thanks for this tribute, a living testament of his spirit in our hearts.

I would have loved to have met him in person but alas he has left a void in this corner and I miss him
Beautiful tribute, thank you for writing it...
It's so hard to write. Cafe last wrote to me Sep.7, 2017. He said he was doing fine but needed to build his strength. I had meant to write back and ask him if he'd told anyone he'd been so ill. I never got that chance, but for those who are wondering, I post a bit. (Looks like I'll have to post it in a 2nd comment according to the warning about leaving this page.)

What can I say - spreading that Cafe's death is a joke is very cruel.
It IS not a joke.
His close friends know how he died and how he suffered - his death was very real.
Please do not continue to say that it must be a joke.
As far as his profile - he was a part of CS and this corner. If his identity is removed - his picture will not appear on his poems. In fact his poems may be deleted entirely which would remove his legacy from here which is not acceptable.
As far as letting his soul rest in peace - He is a peace and is with God. Those of us left behind grieve differently and different lengths of time. If it comforts his family to leave his poems and profile on here - so be it.

an excerpt from Sep.7:
Cat..
I'll write back soon my friend. I thank Chris for his concern, and hope things are going well for you both.
I take so much medication that my hands shake to
where it's difficult to type. I feel great most of the
time, just gotta work on building up my strength,
especially so I can get up and down stairs. I can
take a cab to the supermarket by myself. But I
have to use the electric carts where I fly up and
down the isles like a nine year old. Lol.
He had gotten out of the hospital near the end of June after being in for 2 months with pneumonia. I replied he must have been very ill to be in 2 months. We corresponded a couple more times before Sep. It's odd, b/c though he said he just needed to work on building his strength, I got to thinking about that last msg. about a week ago - it just seemed different, and I wondered if there was something he hadn't told me.... don't know...
But Kathy, thanks again for the tribute - I'm not a writer(though he told me I was in that Sep.7 msg.)- but you've done it so beautifully. And you've also given people like me a place to write their feelings. Thanks for that as well

My dear Cafe, You know I love you... it's so hard to find words. Remember I was gonna call you... but I didn't get to it in time. But now you know the reality of heaven!!! Remember I wrote you about a yr. ago, saying that even if you didn't find someone here on earth, and it's sometimes hard to grasp - that heaven is for real, and that one day you would have the perfect person for you - and happiness forever, never sick, hurt, uncomfortable, sad - just forever and ever - eternal bliss. Chris and I - we're gonna have a grand ole reunion with you, buddy, when our time comes. Thank you for the FANTASTIC poetry you left us, outdone only by your FANTASTIC kindness(as your profile once said- "Kindness is the crown jewel of character.")
May you rest in glorious peace and enjoy to the fullest the eternal rewards of your Heavenly Father.
I love you, I miss you. We love you, we miss you. Always always, always, Cat
It will be very sad if his profile us deleted.
Agree with you.
Umka, with due respect, please don't ever say that again.
He wrote to me, too, and commented even on my blogs.
He's going to be always on my mind.
A great friend,
He is a legacy on this site.
I personally want to be able to read & re-read his beautiful words now and in the future.
To spread the rumor that his dealth notice was a prank shows a lack of respect and is unbelievbly cruel!
You should be ashamed of yourself!

Heaven has gained a wonderful Knight...Café Jim is there now – surround him with love... what a heart-filled message. Your ANGEL CAFE poem is a beautiful tribute to Jim. I had not signed into CS for quite a while and was so distressed to read about his death and sought comfort in writing Knight Rules to honor his memory. He brought so much love, laughter and care into Poet's Corner and will be sorely missed.
Kathy
When I read your poem again along with the excerpt from my mail, I thought how perfectly captured in the words "Look for an Angel with a Halo slightly bent over his ear" fit with the thought of him racing that cart at the supermarket like a 9 year old - it's bound to slip a little when taking a corner - LOL (Though I feel like crying, that thought of him racing around DOES make me smile - thanks for that, Cafe Jim )
Thank you again, Kathy, for this tribute and for your friendship,
Cat
P.S.Thank you also to those who've since written tributes. I've read them - they're beautiful & I plan to visit each next time I'm here(after I've had some sleep, as I only learned yesterday...... )
Love you, Cafe
Kathy
The subject matter of his poems and the differing styles in which they are written shows his kindness and humanity. I wish I could be half as good a man. The fact that he wrote 722 poems ensures him a permanent place in the pantheon of poets here on CS. I would like to see his writing displayed here permanently as a tribute to the Great Man. Certainly, if Cafe's poems were published in hard copy format, they would make for a handsome anthology of his verse. RIP Jim....
Thank you so much.
Mady
May you rest in peace
Thank you for all that you have shared with us

Mady - I also can picture him sipping his special tea next to the stile in the Heavenly Woods. (Jesus even drank wine - maybe he will brew him some - is that a bad thought?)
