Hill of stones

We buried you there
in the lizard bare grass
laid you down
in regimented row

We buried you there
on that hill of stones
where even sparrows weep
in Spring's drizzle dawn

I should have taken you in my bosom
and laid you beneath the peach tree
to blossom and fruit for the Summer children
running madly, circles about your stems

But we buried you on that hill
it is the greatest grief

Well done, dear poet! You succeeded in bringing real sadness to my heart. But "The word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness." (Carl Jung)
Looking forward to reading more from you! Many thanks for the poem!bouquet
