just one more thing
just one more thing i tell the mechanic
about the rattle in my car underneath
just one more thing i tell the MD
about the rattle in my chest
just one more thing dear grandson
as he rattles the cage of his crib
just one more thing intoned to the chef
as he rattles the pots and pans
just one more thing a bit of slumber
before my day awakes from sleep
just one more thing maybe coffee
before i don jacket and cap to leave
just one more thing to set straight
before i go home to family loved
just one more thing to do i think
before i go off to sleep
just one more thing is all i think
about the future time to come
just one more thing for me to see
just one more thing to get to do
just one more thing i feel today
just one more thing to say to you
there never seems to be an end, and
seems as if we're never quite done
with all we want to say dear friend
that we're happy just to be with you
to share this time and these words
just one more thing to partake
