Ever Constant
It felt like winter in my soul,
A kind of twilight, had taken hold.
An all pervading greyness,
No warmth, unnatural, paralysing cold,
Bleak as bleak, misery untold.
For many a day, week,
Month, year.
Something, then felt, rather than seen,
That, you were near.
An inner glowing,
Somehow, a knowing,
All would be well,
I could just tell, and ever growing.
Soul re-building, making,
Toward my awakening,
And ever since, with my soul conversant,
Indeed, you really are, my Friend most Dear,
And, In my mind, Ever Constant.
