our art

lay down your art
a riff, a stroke, a line
cook up another
meal, an idea, a deal
what we do is who we are
the vision that we see

direct the traffic
design a sign graphic
a brush to a pallet
tap chisel with mallet
read a star chart
it's all our art

drive that big combine
survey rod to align
sing an off Broadway show
read news on the radio
sweep it all apart
it's all our art

in oven cook a hen
behind pulpit say Amen
wipe a window clear
ride upon a steer
teach kids to be smart
it's all our art

dry clean those suits
polish those boots
pound that nail gun
clown around have fun
hawk hot dogs from a cart
it's all our art

build cars on the line
dig coal down in a mine
fly a jet across a nation
make something your creation
stethoscope the heart
it's all our art

function follows form
and art is the norm
not really soul deep
but how we make our keep
the worth we give to others
that's our part, our art

Simpler Times..

I can still see my Grandmother in her old faded housedress
bent over the old wringer washer
lifting out piece by piece, each garment,
and running it through the wringer,
of her new washing machine..
Down in the musty cellar
Times were so much simpler then..
Folks were grateful then, for the little simplicities in life,
Which seemed to make life easier...
Now everything is rush rush and I just don't have the time...
No time to simply throw the clothes in the machine,
And toss them in the dryer...
Isn't it funny, how spoiled we've become..
Not as if we have to wash them on a rock at the river..
Now we rush off to the gym where we think we need to get our exercise..
Whatever happened, to everyday tasks, like cutting the grass, weeding the garden,
It used to be enough to keep us in shape...
Whatever happened to toiling away in the kitchen, to make a home cooked meal..
Instead of driving through the drive-thru..
Maybe if we all went back to a simpler time..
We'd be happier and healthier, and appreciate all that we have now..
Just a thought.. let's walk.. not run.

The Feeling of Flying

Sometimes at night
When I lay my head to rest
I close my eyes and imagine:
It is the pillow which is old and tired
and it is I who am light and fluffy.

Is This Me???

Little people in my head
close your eyes and go to bed.
Let me sleep for tonight
little people tripping with fright.

Close your eyes
and let me be.
No more sitting in my head
tripping with me.

As I smoke one more bowl
little people leave this hole.

Slowly i start ti decay away
slowly my life slips away.
Is this just in my head?
little people in mt head
close your eyes and go to bed.

A to Z of a Day

Awakening at the break of dawn
Breathe in and taste the early morn
Coming to terms with what lies ahead
Desperately wanting to stay in bed
Enjoying that coffee the rich full roast
Forgetting to check and burning the toast
Getting in the shower, feeling the soothe
Having a shave until your chin is all smooth
Into your clothes so fresh do they feel
Jacket zipped up to keep out the chill
Kicking through leaves whilst walking to work
Living close by is one major perk
Making your way through the firms parking lot
Needing a coffee that you pour from the pot
Opening E-mails and checking the mail
Phoning a client trying to make a sell
Quickly finishing up it’s time you were gone
Reaching your home put the heating on
Shower again then cooking a meal
Tasty nutritious now you’ve had your fill
Unwinding your tension and wanting to slouch
Vacating the kitchen to lie on the couch
Watching TV and you’re starting to yawn
X-rated movie it’s only soft porn
Yawning and stretching as you get into bed
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

FINAL FLIGHT

It was a cold and dark december night,
A shedualled flight to U.S.A.
Terrorists with no concience,
Knew the passengers were not going all the way

Heartless in their convictions
In Frankfurt the bomb was placed
Never to see their home and friends,
So many innocent lives erased

The plane came down over Lockerbie,
Destroying homes in a quiet street
Death and destruction,a horror scene'
wreckage and bodies were strewn.

Few forgot the tragic day,
Or the 747 the iranians blew away,
The world expressed there sympathy,
reagan said his piece
the devistation of lockerbie
Carnage in the fields

The pilots never stood a chance,
as the plane fell from the sky,
WHY ?? in the name of politics
did so many innocents lose their life,
How could a bomb be planted ?,it slipped the security net.
The horror of a cold december night
The world just cant forget

time is there ever a enough

Time to awake and create a substantial income for my family and mate
is there enough time to appreciate my faith which I took time to gather and make I had the patience to wait for my mate which we both had the patience and time for a family to create now if it's not preplanned pre-ordered our prearranged I have no time for such things I have some time but not much time may be a little time there's always next time but always on borrowed time when will I find the time. If it's not routine are work related it really seems that time is outdated we must take the time to understand the purpose
of the motivation that help us crack the surface of organizing our time to make time
to make what's oh so necessary not secondary to appreciate what we have and make legendary so it can always be timeless

untitled

Under a harsh electric glare we wear ourselves out,
While the old lady sings of love, long lost.
Undulating fervour takes us to three,
In the morning, cold now,
you cling to me

Good Morning

Good morning, as you rise and shine
Another day in life is here
The hour has come to redefine
Your journey ‘cross the wild frontier
Beneath a sky, in cobalt hue
You’ll stroll along your merry route
While I hope all the best for you
As you continue your pursuit.

Good morning, as the moonlight fades
And you begin your daily chores
The dawn is bright; open the shades
Then, dream until each wish is yours
Throughout the day, you’ll move in stride
As I hold your heart in each prayer
Every time that you look outside
You’ll know that I am waiting there.

Good morning, as you greet the world
Once more, your life begins anew
A fresh beginning has unfurled
And brought your goals within your view
While you seek to embrace your dreams
I’ll wish you well, ‘til day is done
I’ll keep you safe, beneath my beams
Have a great day! Regards, the sun.
