IF ONLY

Never imagined my eyes would be witness
to something as breathtaking as she
Captivates like Moon light glistening
atop the darkened sea

In this surreal moment my soul
feels 'one' with tranquility
These inexplicable feelings certainly
because of she

Incredibly resplendent body blinding from afar
though weak kneed I spring to a stand
I see her and I reminiscing outside Tiki Bar
following stroll along beaches shore hand in hand

Oh boy! I apparently nodded off
during night replacing day
Wow, that stupefying lady starred
in dream I had today

ELVIS

Elvis was born in Tupelo Mississippi in nineteen thirty five
stepped out of poverty to become the biggest presence alive
He is arguably the most influential force ever
his significance is certain to be forever

Elvis entertained like no-one before or since
with appeal surpassing that of any Prince
Reeling in awe when he sang was not by choice
you couldn't help but when hearing his angelic voice

Women lost control at the sight of this debonair man
screaming, crying, and lusting like no-other fanatic fan
Men felt he was cooler than anyone could be
all wished they could be as desirable as he

A unique talent that sang like no-other could sing
reason he became known throughout the world as "The King"
The dedication his fans possess for him will not fade
to them he is the most admirable person ever made

Like with many others a drug dependency took its toll
culminating in the early demise of his troubled soul
Each year his memory is celebrated at his Memphis home
at Graceland Mansion Elvis' spirit will forever roam

WHO ARE YOU??

When looking into a mirror
what exactly do you see?
A reflection of disappointment
or person you wanted to be

When words are uttered from your lips
do they come out truthfully spoken?
Or are they mostly less than true
because belief in honesty is broken

When you search your soul
has doubt and fear taken control
Or is it inundated with faith and hope
which is sorely needed just to cope

Mirrors only reveal one's exterior
in that you can't put all your trust
What truly matters is the interior
a righteous heart is a must

DON'T GIVE WAY

When fed up you just wanna throw up your hands
question how much longer you can face life's demands
When so distraught it's arduous getting out of bed
even when wide awake you still feel dead

When anxiety is so overwhelming you wanna scream
your nightmarish life isn't simply some bad dream
When feeling so insignificant you wouldn't be missed
past sick of being screwed before getting kissed

When demons persist you ponder if it's time to quit
desire in every capacity has vanished bit by bit
When suicide infiltrates your thoughts keep them at bay
after reaching your last thread of hope 'Don't Give Way'!

Moving On

The road to life has been a winding one.
Hills and valleys, resting to rising suns
From babies cooings to young woman's dreams
Seasoned woman now but my works not done.
Little lost not knowing which road to take
Sometimes no decisions are the best to make
It seems so close but yet so far away
One day I will rest when I am in my grave

I seek solitude but life still seeks me out
My name chimes as clear as a bell
Natures beating drum the beating of my heart
Mystifying me as if I am under a spell
Talking softly heard as loud as a shout
Removing all insecurities and doubt
Touched by the Gods of the Universe
Embracing, no longer feeling cursed

Let go of silly petty things release their hold
Follow the path towards knowing yourself
Don't believe everything your told
Search for peace not strife
Revealing love through your life
Time is short but please don't run
Or you might pass all the fun
Search for spiritual not financial wealth

I hear the beating of the drum
Work here is almost done
I choose the road of the resting sun

About this poem:
I think when we are ready to move on in life each of us knows when it is time, be it emotional or physical moving. We know when the journey needs to move on. To stay complacent would somehow stop the growth.

FALLING OUT OF LOVE

Dreams of love eternal
Recorded in a journal.
Loved you from first glance
Deeper after our first dance.
Tumbled head over heals at first
From drought passion and thirst.
Thought I would always love you
Forever happy, never blue,
Yet here I am feelings not the same.
There ought to be thunder and rain.
The thrill is gone
Did not take long.
Love slipping, slipping away
Loving you a little less each day.

No one’s to blame just the way it goes
Possible prevention I suppose.
Yet could we have gone a different a route?
Unfortunately we were are not that astute.
Predicting future outcome
Dancing to a different drum.
Along the way wiped out once or twice
Now in the end I pay the price.
Lied to myself, perhaps, perhaps, perhaps?
Still now I will not collapse.

I’m cool toward you to day
Fallen like a failed soufflé.
Loving feelings turn dour and fade
Cool glass of unsweetened lemonade.
Where did the warm feelings go?
Really I don’t know.
Your voice no longer my heart melts
Would last forever I felt.
When did that cease?
That time in Greece?
Love slipping away
By the hour, by the day.
Fading into the mist
Time to cross you off my list.

Falling in, climbing out
Surviving alone no doubt.
Instead of hurting to the bone,
Petrified to be alone.
Upright, erect standing tall
Like Goliath waiting for the call.
Crash and burn
Is how we learn.
Life too I suppose
But who really knows.
Tis sad but true
I say good-bye to you.
Stupid in love no more
Lock and close that door.

Wayward light

The hourglass sifts down towards the bottomless undertow. The heart beats faster than what has ever been known. The soul shakes to the sound of the aftermath. The world turns until it burns and crash. As you lay in the wayward light falling into a dream. Decent into the emptiness of the stars as they beam. Into your eyes a darkness Fades into tears. Bringing your mind to the worst in life of all your fears. Creating a moment and in that moment it's an eternity. But in that forever moment the night has shown us rain. And in that wayward light those feelings though bottled up hurt for only just a day. One day the hurt will be gone as I look at the golden haze.

I am a Rose

I am a Rose
A beautiful fragrant rose
Kiss my tender petals
Inhale my fragrance
Suck my nectar
But don’t trample my heart

Because,
Then…
My tears will be a flood
That will flow drowning you
My sigh will be a storm
That will blow crushing you
My thorns will pierce your heart
Till you beg my sympathy
Kneeling down in front of me

"Cuddled in you"

Once
it will not be you
not me
and we will be.
When breathing
would be breathing
and the pulse of strokes
will become even
with clock sound.
When the thread desires
weave the net
spider threads
and the night with a lantern
of light sinks
the calm of the stars.
I will fall asleep peacefully
cuddled in you
on the sheet
fragrant
memories of the night.

EXRED

WILLIAM WINTER 1792 Last man to hang in Northumberland

Fear gripped his heart
ripped it apart
His trembling limbs
had knowledge of his sins
Hanging was the game
Survival was plain
nonsense he knew
So right on que
he the last one
swung on the gibbet
until his bones and flesh rotted.

About this poem:
