Virtue-less Souls

What a sad song she sang,
her eyes conveyed the pain,
Her voice rang out passionately
& tears filled her emerald green eyes.

I sensed her misery;
& similar memories of my own
permeating through my mind.

She swayed her body from side to side,
Her hands moved nervously,
deliberately.

She told the tale,
it hurt, I cried,
Our souls fused blindly in unity,
as she sobbed over her torn dress,
& her bruises.

Remnants of a cruel past left her,
broken,
empty of her womanhood
she had shrouded so.

Nightmares of this violent night
& decaying embers of pain
Lurk in the shadows,
waiting for the sun to come back.

"Why must it be so hard to move on?"
I asked through my own tears.

Nubian Queen

I am the Sphinx.
I am the woman buried in the sand
up to her chin.
I am waiting for an archaeologist
to unearth me,
to dig out my neck & my nipples,
bare my claws
& solve my riddle.

No one has solved my riddle
since Oedipus.

I face the pyramids which rise
like angular breasts
from the dry body of Egypt.
My fertile river is flowing down below-
a lovely lower kingdom.
Every woman should have a delta
with such rich silt-
brown as the buttocks
of Nubian queens.

O friend, why have you come to Egypt?
Aton & Yaweh
are still feuding.
Moses is leading his people
& speaking quilt.
The voice out of the volcano
will not be still.

A religion of death,
a woman buried alive.
For thousands of years
the sand drifted over my head.
My sex was a desert,
my hair more porous than pumice,
& nobody sucked my lips
to make me tell.

The pyramid breasts, though huge,
will never sag.
In the center of each one,
a darkened chamber....
a tunnel,
dead man's bones,
malignant gold.

Below Zero

I didn't care
if they fondled him at parties,
eased him in at home
between a husband & a child,
sucked him dry
with vacuum cleaner kisses.

It was the coldness that I minded,
though he'd warned me.

"I'm cold." He said
(as if that helped any).
But he was colder
than he thought he was.

Cold sex.
A woman has to die
& be exhumed
three times a week
to know the meaning of it.

His hips are razors,
his pelvic bones are knives,
even his elbows could cut butter.

Cold flows from his mouth
like a cloud of carbon dioxide
which turns to smoke.
His face hangs over my face-

One of these days
he'll shatter
or
he'll melt.

Spirit of my Heart

To the humble spirit of my heart,
countless passages of lamented hurt,
shine above the past to make a new start,
clear the vessels and make a fresh spurt,

Shadows in the mind often linger,
decadent worries of the past,
still you show that accusatory finger,
spectre of jealousies always cast,

Mind and feelings twisted in turmoil,
serenity and peace need to abound,
dragging the past and excuses for your foil,
having to bury myself so as not to be found,

One cannot control what you cannot see,
I have no ill feelings of what has gone,
still the shadows of past pester me,
regrets a few but mostly have none,

Is ones soul crushed and deflated,
pounded by bitterness left to despair,
only my demise would make you elated,
but the spirit of my heart has given me air.

Broken Poet

Roses are red and violets are blue
Songs have a rhyme but mine never do
That's because I know I can never have you

And by the look on my face you will never know it
But I have the heart of a broken poet

Words and thoughts, they only get lost
In a lonely room upon a lonely wall
Where nothing at all,can ever grow

I would sing you a song
But love as a word has no way to show it
So goes the heart of a broken poet

Deception

Unless there are certain changes that completely rearranges...
Strangeness that's contagious that can change with simple plainness...
Confessions of your shapeless shapes are no means simply painless...
I hate to see, what they might bring, the pain you bring is shameless...

I used to wonder why it was I felt the way I feel...
I used to love the pain you give, it made me feel so real...
Now I know your true intent, you've finally revealed...
Intense intentions, in wrong dimensions, no longer are concealed....

La Belle Dame Sans Merci

Oh what can ail thee,knight-at-arms,
Alone and palely loitering?
The sedge has withered from the lake,
And no bird sing.

Oh what can ail thee,knight-at-arms,
So haggard and so woe-begone?
The squirrel's granary is full,
And the harvest's done.

I see lily on thy brow,
With unguish moist and fever-dew,
And on thy cheeks a fading rose
Fast withereth too.

I met a lady in the meads,
Full beautiful-a faery's child,
Her hair was long, her foot was light,
And her eyes were wild.

I made a garland for her head,
And bracelets too,and fragrant zone;
She looked at me as she did love,
And made sweet moan.

I set her on my pacing steed,
And nothing eles saw all day long,
For sidelong would she bend, and sing
A faery's song.

She found me roots of relish sweet,
And honey wild,and manna-dew,
And sure in language strange she said-
'I love thee true'.

She took me to her elfin grot,
And there she wept and sighed full sore,
And there I shut her wild wild eyes
With kisses four.

And there she lulled me asleep
And there I dreamed-Ah!woe betide!-
The latest dream I ever dreamt
On the cold hill side.

I saw pale kings and princes too,
Pale warriors,death-pale were they all;
They cried-'La Belle Dame sans Merci
Hath thee in thrall!'

I saw their starved lips in the gloam,
With horrid warning gaped wide,
And I awoke and found me here,
On the cold hill's side.

And this is why I sojourn here
Alone and palely loitering,
Though the sedge is withered from the lake,
And no birds sing.

MY GUY

Several months ago
I let you go
I needed time to be alone
Never did you roam
Instead of using the phone
I thought I'd write you a poem
I knew I was in the right place
The moment I saw your handsome face
For no other man could take your place
For you my heart began to race
When you looked at me
A Hughe smile came to be
For it was you
Who was in my dream
I remember your sweet taste
Your soft lips
I so wanted to trace
As I ran my fingers along your face
I softly let out a weep
Here's the man I want to keep
Everything was fine
Your beautiful eyes met mine
I could feel my heart unwind
As our mouths became intertwined
You felt so devine
I felt like I was on cloud 9
I could feel our passion rise
I could see the twinkle in your eyes
Our love we can not disguise

TOGETHER WERE A PRIZE!
