Friends come and go

Friends come and go
As the currents ebb and flow
The swells and ripples that they make
Leave mixed emotions in their wake
For some friends drift with changing tide
Come on strong and then subside
Only to be cast Upon the shore
Disappear and be seen no more
But Some friendships are strong enough to stand
the changing tides and shifting sand
What is strong enough to set these friendships apart
Affinity of mind and heart
Love much more than mere token
thoughts understood
Yet unspoken
A common bond, a mutual goal
An understanding heart and soul
It's these little things that mean so much
Are strokes of friendship's velvet touch

just love

either side
wouldn't define
whether it is right
or wrong

either lines wouldn't
guarantee a sound mind
would fall on hazy decisions
but somehow
you do need to make a stand
and stick to what you've
believe all along

and if it is me
that will have to go
I will take it with pride
and gladness
that for a while
I've become a part of you

rare and once in a lifetime
you are exposed
to the rawness of what love is
it shakes the living hell
out of you, deeper than anything
you've ever done

but the truth is,
it has shone your brilliance
to the whole world
and defined you
as the epitome of happiness
that will never be replaced

and that is what I live for

loss/death

life is a winding path to trace
years filling memory's with peoples face
see where they have fallen in places
by the wish to linger in loves graces
as if one last time to embrace
that which we can not replace
yet unto the center you must brace
for this is the joy,the beauty and the sorrow of are race

creation

as the back door sprung shut
I had a last glance of you
it replayed in my mind so many times,
that my thoughts turned blue
though you may have gone away
memory wouldn't allow me to be free
but I fought my way through circumstance
landed on my two feet and in one piece
and ended up, strangely enough, at that same back door
peeking out, I saw and quickly realized
one world ends, one world has begun
as spring blossomed into summer,
I too grew stronger
with the dawn, seasons come and seasons go
I had been tossing horseshoes over my left shoulder,
hoping for things to go my way
now I am aware that, things, will flow
...horseshoes or no
as days flowed by, change, inevitably occurred
and, in time, I met another
who, like me, had tried to rise above the flood
but that was then...
and this is now
so, once more, I am afloat
...and filled with reason to believe
and why not?
we all crave tenderness
we all crave love
and when we give it
...and we receive it
there is little more that one could wish for
I think that I will just stay here
I hope forever

I Think I Know

Have I not served my time
Even though there was no crime
How much longer should this go on
I think I know what it means to be alone

Have I not missed her so
With no way to say it,how will she know
The way I felt from the start
I think I know what it means to have a broken heart

Have I not run out of words to rhyme
Love always wants just one more line
What happens on the day when I have none
I think I know what it means I'll still be the lonely one

Have I not tried to say goodbye
What is the word called when it falls from your eyes
Don't read this poem unless you can read my mind
I think I know what it means for love to have just one more line

Faceless Man

Faceless Man
Body of a Lion, strong and secure.
Mind of a gorilla, gentle but naughty.
Heart of an elephant, true and protective.
Faceless Man
With arms so gentle enfolded around me,
With lips that brush my brow so softly,
With a chest so safe I curl into each night.
With a heartbeat so strong I feel it with mine.
My faceless Man,
With you I belong.

Trapped

"Is there no way out of the mind?"
~ Sylvia Plath

The cage of myself clamps shut
my words turn the lock.

I am the jailor rattling the keys.
I am the torturer's assistant
who nods and smiles
and pretends not
to be responsible.

I am the clerk who stamps
the death note
affixing the seal,
the seal,
the God damned seal.

I am the footman who "follows orders."
I have not got the authority.

I am the visitor
who brings a cake, baked
with a file.

Pale snail,
I wave between the bars.
I speak of rope with the hangman.
I chatter of sparks and currents
with the electrician
direct or alternating,
he is beautiful.

I flatter him.
I say he turns me on.

Poet, I tell the cyanide capsules
they have talent
and may fulfill themselves someday.
I read the warden's awful novel
and recommend a publisher.
I sleep with the dietitian
who is hungry.
I sleep with the hangman
and reassure him
that he is a good lover.

I am the ideal prisoner.

I win prizes on my conduct.
They reduce my sentence.
Now it is only 99 years
with death like a dollop
of whipped cream at the end.
I am so grateful, poet

No one remembers
that I constructed this jail
and peopled its cells.
no one remembers my blueprints
and my plans,
my steadying hammering,
my dreams of fantastic escapes.

And even I,
patiently writing away,
my skin yellowing
like the pages of old paperbacks,
my hair turning gray,
cannot remember the first crime,
the crime
I was born for.

Never tell an older woman..

Never tell an older women what I'm
about to tell you
That men long deeply for that feminine
touch in the way they've learned to do
Never let on that her experienced eyes
can see through your very soul
Never second guess until all her stories told
Never let the magazines, the media, and
the press know she squeezed tears from
your doubtful eyes that poured across
her breasts
Never let the sun know what the the moon
has held in trust
That the love of an older woman is not a
choice but a must..

Open(she's got me)

"Hello love.", that was it. Fewest words spoken
and with that she's got me like wounds, open
like fissures spewing hot lava molten
and I feel lighter than air floatin'
the happiest I've been no more mopin'
about, stricken but copin'
wishin' and hopin'
I'm no longer there: sad, heart broken
she brought me joy: I'm glad, emotin'
now, to let it all soak in...
