mr1983: "And one could argue there has been a shift in Chinas political ideology . It has basically embraced capitalism in all but name. The economy of China now would have been unthinkable to Chinese Communist regiemes of the past."
"China and it will embrace capitalism and democracy fully in the future but I think it will be many years away."

These two quotes are from you about a week ago and now you seem to be telling us their aim is autarky! So which is it?

It has embraced capitalism is all but name but the goal of the people running the country at the moment is to be a self sufficant society in the future.

I dont think it will become an autarky. I think it will eventually become decocratic but it will be long after the current leadership is dead and gone. And THEIR goal at the moment is an autarky.

mr1983: You just twist words and sentences when the situation calls for it. Usually when you realise you are wrong in what you are saying. You still have not answered me with proof that the average American or European is five times at least more productive than the average Chinese person.?

What???Why would I provide proof for a premice I reject??? Are you drinking???? You should provide proof as you are the one who believes it. Are you sure you're OK????

mr1983: I'll tell you something also. China will never be an autarky. They gave up this aim when they opened up their economy a long time ago. You still seem to be avoiding my questions to you regarding the catch-up effect. Things like marginal analysis and capital and the production function and stuff. Have you answers for these?

I AVOIDED NOTHING. You are obviously drunk and cant read. I will say it one more time. THE CATCH UP EFFECT DOES NOR APPLY TO CHINA AS IT ONLY APPLIES TO POOE OR POORER ECONOMIES. CHINA BEING THE 2ND BIGGEST ECONOMY ON EARTH CANT BE CONSIDERED THIS!!!!!

AND I DID NOT SAY CHIAN WOULD BECOME A AUTARKY!!!(I doubt you knew what that was until I mentioned it). I SAID THE CURRENT LEADERS GOAL IS TO BE ONE. I NEVER SAID THEY WOULD SUCCEED!!!!

Muppet!!!!

sofarsogood74: They are also buying up resources all over the world and entering into lucrative trade deals with many top EU nations and the US!

China is very much interested in the EU and the market here. I suggest you read a bit about little economics!

Whats so hard to understand??????

At the moment China needs to be global. It has embraced capitalism in all but name. It wants to trade with the world and build a string rich economy. As this happens the middle and upper classes in China will grow and the wealth of its people will grow. That will create a huge internal market and then it hope it can snowball and eventually take away the need for trading with the west. Thus becoming self sufficant.

Is that really so hard for you to get??? Are you that stupid really???

So you also think that the Germans after bailing out half the countries in Europe don't have a right to say that they will give us no more money unless we sign a pact not to be crazy in the future. Do you think it is ok that a German teacher gets paid less than an Irish teacher and that the German teachers tax euros are been written off in Greece? Oh yeah them Germans are really bad!!

You are going off on a drunken tangent now. What has this got to do with China?? But to answer the question..the Germans have the right to ask for what they want....But we have the right to say No.

Who said they were bad? I dont care what a German teacher earns...Or an Irish teacher for that matter. As an Irishman I dont want any country dictatcting our economic policies other than ourselves.

But you can go off on your drunken tangent if ya want. laugh

mr1983: So ye are all still talking about this subject!! About your facts I'd like to state a couple of things. You have probably heard of them already due to your knowledge of economics but I'll just add them. Yes China is growing faster than Europe and America. The main economic reason behind this has been known for decades if not longer. It is something economists call "the catch-up effect". And no it is not just made up. The idea has been around for ages. Keynes and co. liked to talk about marginal efficiency of capital and marginal product of labour and diminishing returns and stuff. It is related to these concepts!
Also everyone keeps talking about the USA been heavily "indebted" to China. What exactly is the problem with that? If they decide in the morning not to pay them back what can China do about it? And "debt" is now looked on as a taboo word! It is one of the keystones of capitalism! You have also talked about how Chinese domestic demand is sufficient to cover the lost demand from the EU and America and how they don't really need EU and American demand. I'm not sure which economic book your reading but it is telling you lies there. You talk about this 7%-8% growth rate in China! What does that tell you? Does it tell you how the central government in China is pumping public money into their domestic economy while their export economy is suffering? Do you realise that when wages and standards of living rise in China that all the major companies will outsource to other cheaper parts of the world? Your interpretation of their growth rate is clouded by a figure. You should really look behind that figure. Do you know that the average American is 5 times more productive than the average Chinese person? If you looked at the GDP per hour worked figures you'd probably see a bigger gap!
Back to the debt question!! America has 16 trillion worth of debt, give or take a few dollars. China holds around a trillion of this. It still gives power to the Chinese but at the end of the day it is also beneficial to Americans! Do you know what would happen if the Chinese suddenly called in this debt? It would hurt them more than it would hurt America! Maybe you should look into this too! So check up the catch-up effect and a few other things. Also throw away that book that is telling you that China doesn't need the export markets of Europe and America. It is definitely telling you lies.

I like Mexican food, that does not make Mexico a super power.....FACT.laugh
