China has made a Macro economical miracle out of its “communist” political system and its “open market” economy.

The majority of economical transactions in the world are made in US Dollars -85 %- , then in Euros, then in Yens.

Some scholars believe that the Euro would also –on a decade or so- equal the dollar in the trading and money-capital markets.

How could the Chinese Renminbi get to be among the principal currencies for the world’s money-capital markets and the international trading?

Would the Chinese focus on a more regional approach for dominating those markets first?

"Before that, China needs to begin doing some of the basics itself. A start would be to open its capital account and trust its own people to keep holding the yuan, before expecting other countries to consider it as a possible reserve currency. Otherwise, much of what we are hearing appears little more than self-serving sound bites".

Albertaghost: No however, those who have a greater understanding of Chinese and Western politics, culture, dynamics and economics certainly have a lead up on a guy who makes his own stuff up in order to fit whatever reality he is attempting to put forth..

How do you know they have a greater understanding of whats going on there? How do you know they know more about China than people who think China will be the next Superpower! Again you are just spouting crap!

Albertaghost: Are there? Haven't come across any of them so I beg to differ. ..

There are no intelligent people who think China will be the next Superpower??????? You are really unreal!

Albertaghost: Actually one gets an education from learning. Something that you refuse to do instead just making your own stuff up which has been proven to be wrong according to those with an education as I have listed...

I know whats happening in China by educating myself about it! I have read a lot about whats happening there and I also work with the Chinese! I talk to them most days and the place I work has an office in Hong Kong. I know more about whats happening there than you ever will so I am in a good position to have an opinion of my own! Unlike you who just cuts and pastes others opinions! Sad!

Albertaghost: Indeed. Once again you admit to not bothering to learn preferring to just wallow in your own ignorance.
In depth understanding of the variables in play with which they can extrapolate probabilities far more accurately than some guy who gets banned from time to time then comes back with different identities.

I have learned. I have read for years whats happening over there and deal with The Chinese and Chinese companies every working day! Unlike you who just started reading others opinions thae last few days!!!!rolling on the floor laughing

How do you know they have an indebth understanding of the variables????? How do you know what people who think China will be the next Superpower know???? You are arguing with a guy in this thread who is living there and you think your opinions trumps his!!!!!!!!...You're a joke!!!!roll eyes

I know because the people who think it will be can’t even provide a widely accepted definition of what a superpower is. That’s a start silly.doh

The rest is their sources which are always unnamed or, are one dimensional such as your secretary in China you speak with from time to time. Like she knows what is going on outside of China as per global politics considering China is famed for having next to zero for freedom of the press so, how would she know anything other than the party line – and you get your information from her!rolling on the floor laughing doh

sofarsogood74:
There are no intelligent people who think China will be the next Superpower???????

I imagine there are but if this thread is a sampling then I'm afraid there are not many.

sofarsogood74: I know whats happening in China by educating myself about it! I have read a lot about whats happening there and I also work with the Chinese!

You do understand that the human rights record of the PRC is low so that getting truth from the average person is akin to asking an average Iraqi living under the Saddam regime if they think Saddam is a good man or an evil one don’t you? Of course you’ll never get the truth. So, what publications have you read that give you this knowledge that certified Asian experts who lived in China cannot?

sofarsogood74: I talk to them most days and the place I work has an office in Hong Kong. I know more about whats happening there than you ever will so I am in a good position to have an opinion of my own! Unlike you who just cuts and pastes others opinions! Sad!

Oh I have my own opinion - you're a flake who makes his own stuff up as you have yet to quote anything that makes sense! So you read some articles from dubious sources and talk once in awhile to a secretary. Hardly makes you the equal of people who have lived and studied China for decades with political science degrees but, whatever floats you boat my imaginative friend!

sofarsogood74: I have learned. I have read for years whats happening over there and deal with The Chinese and Chinese companies every working day!

So a being a superpower is dependent on what a communist population believes it should be? And you get your in depth information from one of the worst offenders on the planet for freedom of the press?

No wonder you have to make your own stuff up Shotstopper! rolling on the floor laughing

sofarsogood74: How do you know they have an indebth understanding of the variables????? You are arguing with a guy in this thread who is living there and you think your opinions trumps his!!!!!!!!...You're a joke!!!!

And quoting an expert in foreign policy, global and Asian politics as well as the politics of China who was born there, educated there and also educated in three other well known western universities. Bet your English teacher, the lady you buy your noodles from in Dublin’s China Town or the communist indoctrinated secretary your speak with on the phone on company time don’t have those creds.

As for the ‘guy who lives there’ and my opinion, his is based on what the Chinese he knows think. Being a superpower is not in the mind but rather a complex mixture of cultural, political, economic and military variables projected across the globe, not just in a city in the country in question. It also encompasses the rest of the world and how they perceive it both in mind and in reality. You give your hand away by directing all your attention to China when in reality, the countries who determine whether it is a superpower or not are certainly not China so to rest your case on what the man in the street in China, a country with low scores on freedom of information and knowledge of the outside world is silly to say the least but, that’s you in a nutshell I suppose.

If you find your own material boring then please don't ask us to read it or even post it. You refusal to to read your own stuff yet expect others to was just plain rude to say the least.

We were however speaking of trade marks and recognizable cultural items. I asked you how many Chinese restaurant franchises are well known by symbols across the world such as the ones I supplied which were American.doh

As for the chickens, in this case, being one of the 'Henny Pennys' (as this chicken is known in British culture) is being a turkey huge so it appears by choosing to be the former it defaults you to the latter anyhow.sad flower

I found this an interesting article, it shows a different perspective and is the one I think is closer to what the future holds.

China should heed Deng's warning

By FRANK CHING

".................. (Article snipped as too many words, see link below)

Thus, Premier Wen Jiabao in April reiterated Deng's promise that China would never seek hegemony. "We are not yet a developed country," he said on the eve of a visit to Malaysia and Indonesia. "And even when China becomes a developed country one day, China will never seek hegemony."

It is good that Chinese leaders are mindful of Deng's pledges and are willing to periodically renew such pledges. This certainly should help to reassure the country's neighbors as they see China developing into a strong military power, especially a naval power.

But they must be a bit confused over what China really stands for when they read articles in the Chinese press, such as one recently in the Global Times, which warned countries involved in territorial disputes with China that they should "mentally prepare for the sounds of cannons."

Moreover, retired Gen. Xu Guangyu has said: "We kept silent and tolerant over territorial disputes with our neighbors in the past because our navy was incapable of defending our economic zones, but now the navy is able to carry out its task."

This suggests that as China's capabilities change, its attitudes and its policies would also change. This certainly undermines confidence in pledges about never seeking hegemony.

In his address to the United Nations, Deng went much further than promising that China would never behave like a superpower.

In fact, he made this extraordinary exhortation: "If one day China should change her color and turn into a superpower, if she too should play the tyrant in the world, and everywhere subject others to her bullying, aggression and exploitation, the people of the world should identify her as social-imperialism, expose it, oppose it and work together with the Chinese people to overthrow it."

Those are strong words. China's leaders should keep them constantly in mind.

Of course, Deng had a special definition of superpower. Today, China is already the world's second largest economy and it will overtake the United States within a couples of decades to become the world's biggest economy, with commensurate increases in its political, diplomatic and military power.

Thus, China will be a superpower, whether it calls itself that or not. But, no matter how powerful it becomes, it does not have to behave in a hegemonistic fashion, dominating or bullying other countries. That was the promise of Deng Xiaoping. That is what the world expects of China in the future. China must not rule the world even if it has the ability to do so."

Indeed. However, it seems to only interest itself in the regional aspect of China's power mentioning little of the global situation in which China's presence is not well apparent. As well, it also proposes that the entire psychology of Chinese sociological mentality will change within a few decades in that China, after thousands of years will move outwards when it has been at certain times, a regional power man times over.

Since the Australian press is just as bad as is the American press, it's clear that you can't understand why the powers-that-be have taken manufacturing away from both the UK and the USA leaving millions of people without jobs in both countries. This was deliberate. The powers-that-be also got ahold of banking and lend the printed up pounds and dollars to the people at interest, something that the Bible absolutely forbids because no funds are created to cover the interest, so it is taken out of the economy.

I do have Aussie supporters of my work, so if you would like to learn, contact me using my nick: Leanybean

Many don't like it. Which doesn't matter REALLY!

You're right for once Max - it doesn't matter as they have a long way to go to become a superpower!

Based on stuff you say you read and pretend people you say you talk to who have only information (if any as they live in a closed society where freedom of the press is low) that would relate to their own neighborhood and certainly not the geopolitical world beyond their borders.

Albertaghost: Sorry Shotstopper but I didn't say I stood behind that and didn't offer it up as proof of any kind but rather for information only to allow uninformed people such as yourself to familiarize themselves with the subject matter.

If you will note, I only said it was from Wiki, hardly an endorsement. I provided actual proof from credible sources in later posts.
I said ""they are extremely unlikely to be the next superpower""

Now, you have a good day, and watch out for those strawmen you keep making!

I have provided plenty of facts about China, and as for quotes or links? Why would I need them? I am well read enough and know enough about China to have AN OPINION OF MY OWN. That is why your China recently launched a Air Craft Carrier and is planning 4 or 5 more?

China realized that having a Navy is very big way to project power.

But then speaking of having Navy.....unless you have the right systems to defend them at sea....they are just floating holes in the water, waiting to be filled.

Did I mention to you....the United States.....that backward third world country.....is considering to make new warships out of
titiamun. The metal is 40% lighter than steel. And will not rust and its harder......so it can take more battle damage....and keep our Navy on the high seas for years into the future.

We just had a break thru in welding titiamun. That silly old third world country......just always seems to be a step ahead of others in innovated technology.

But think about the implications of using titiamun in missiles, rockets, aircraft, battle tanks, super tankers.....and many other military and civilian systems.

It is uses today in small amounts. But welding the metal.....can mean....large assemblies are made for it.

China knew that all along but now they can afford a navy and big aricraft carrier fleet! But it is not the ONLY way of projecting power!!! To say China can't be a superpower because it doesn't have a big navy is just ridicioulas! It is thinking from 1945! The world has chaged in 60 years. And the fact it is building a navy also add to the facts that is will be the next superpower!!!!

What has that got to do with if China can be the next Superpower? Did I mention China has managed to a invent a new reactor for newclear power? A type of reactor the US, Germany and South Africa all failed to get working? That is far more important than new types of Navy ships.

So making nuclear isotopes for nuclear warheads is more important to projecting power....than say a Navy? But since China is not signature to any Nuclear treaty....it says it does restrain it nuclear weapon development program....but they are not IEAO inspected.

So in other words....the US START agreement with Russia....is not such a good idea .....as China builds up her nuclear weapons programs. That is something I have been saying for a long time as well.

Nice to see we agree on something.

The point was....that China Navy is not going to be able to project global power very well against a US Navy built of Titaimun hulls and equiped with our new EMP weapons.

See here is the thing about projecting military power. Unless the weapon system or navy vessel can win in a conflict, it is more like a big floating cruise ship on a holiday passage. No one takes it seriously.
