I suggest you actually read the article it is all about the Noise suppresion. Very little about the Radar Signature as the size shape and moving parts do have a Radar Signature......The only way the Helicopter beats Radar is to go so slow todays Computer driven systems ignore them as they will not produce a track unless you set the Parameters accordingly and if you did that you would produce tracks on birds, so it is speed that helps it suppress it's signature,,,However if the operator is good enough and not using the computer all the current Helicopters are (including "stealth") easily spotted.

grin cheers

Now back to the point you dragged us away from.grin cheers

sofarsogood74: Where India lack something is they don't have the bigger western economies in their pocket like China. And as China get richer and the middle class grows rtheir internal market will only grow too. I agree India will be a force too but they are just falling behind at the moment.

But there is no reason to believe that India will remain so.

sofarsogood74: The current regeime and politics wont last forever in China and it will embrace capitalism and democracy fully in the future but I think it will be many years away. When the Soviet Union was a superpower in the past it had a terrible human rights record and democracy was not on the horizon, but it was still a superpower.

The Soviet Union was a superpower owing to its military might generated during WWII and hardly comparible to modern China. The Soviet trade market was limited to Communist countries and not global like the Chinese trade base.

patmac: Chinese infuence in Africa is booming and many folk have compared it to similar to the European activity 1900-1960's.....I wonder what the Anti Imperilists have to say about that idea.

Not trying to make a new discussion, as such just pointing out China's communist ideal is not the same as the actions they are taking in Africa. Presently the are trawling Africa for all the raw material they want and need. Also they are using the indigenious folk as cheap labour.

Sound familiar folks....We the British and the rest of Europe did the same for over a century and even though we all left we still get grief from the Communist/Anti Imperialists.

Funny how things turn around. China is and always will be a super power as will America and Russia sheer size of population makes it so.

Japan is more an economic force at present.

Using that as a guideline then India and the emerging but seldom looked at Indonesia will become players soon.

Pakistan is far to fractured and corrupt. But who is not to say that in the future an Islamic Superpower of many states will not evolve if they could ever agree and cut out the corruption and nepotism then we would all have too worry.

Just a thought or three

I agree, Africa is next on the list. thumbs up

sofarsogood74: Who said the only power is military power????

Noboy did. It's simply one of the criteria that being a superpower entails.

sofarsogood74: China does have military power and a huge army but it is also rolling in money and loaning it to the biggest economies in the world. And China is building aircraft carriers and will have them soon! And since the question was who will be the NEXT superpower they obviously don't need them now to be the next!!!!

And ..... and .... and ... they've been doing it for how many years and how many ore prior to them having interests all over the globe and being able to influence events, prop up friends and take care of enemies a world away? Hell, they can't even make quality computers without stealing the technology and they are somehow referred to as a superpower in the making? Get real, the first thing they need to do is to have their products looked at for something more than what 'Made in Japan' was thirty years ago then, stop stealing off others cause they can't cut it themselves then, allow their own people to have freedom of speech and body, apologize for murdering a hundred million of them, get their carriers in the water to prove they at least floatand then, move them around the globe into areas already occupied by Great Powers and the lone Superpower to prop up their non existent interests.

Until then, they are not a Superpower nor will they be any time soon.

sofarsogood74:
As for your definition of super power...how do you k now that man coined the phrase??? Because it's on wiki???? Where have you proved he defined it.

He wrote a book on this subject in 1943 called (of all things) "Superpowers: the United States, Britain, and the Soviet Union"

sofarsogood74: And where does it say the power has to be military? You can project power without aircraft carriers! You saying you can't is the most idiotic argument I have ever heard!

And yours is the most lacking. I asked you for your definition of what a Superpower is and you have yet to provide one and back it up with anything.

Here, I shall once again do it for you;

""Alice Lyman Miller is a research fellow at the Hoover Institution and visiting associate professor in the Department of Political Science at Stanford. She is also a senior lecturer in the Department of National Security Affairs at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.""

Now, what she says )I imagine she has more credentials than you have in this matter)is;

""The basic components of superpower stature may be measured along four axes of power: military, economic, political, and cultural (or what political scientist Joseph Nye has termed “soft”).""

That means they have to have the ability to project power to protect interests and help friends as well as take care of enemies a world away, money and trade, be able to influence politics a world away in a manner that garners them what they wish and, like everybody wants American Music/Hollywood/Cars/T shirts and Jack Daniels - be able to influence culture globally.

@Albertaghost Well with Nuclear power, a huge army and plenty of money, China fits that Criteria.

They can influence events because the West will be indebted to them. They are laoning money so they can have influence. And as a man from a country that owes the IMF I know if you owe people money they have plenty of influence. So that is certainly projecting their power. Also they are buying up resources all over the world from Africa to Australia. The deals are worth billions to certain countries..that is also having influence!

The thread is about the NEXT Superpower. Thats what you seem to forget. China is gowing at an economic erate of 8% to 12% a year. Even when the Wests economy recovers it will grow at about 4% in a good year! China will pass every Western countries economy in the next 10 years.

China is loaning money to the US, buying bonds in European countries debts, buying up raw materials in Africa and Australia and every counry wants to do business with it. If that is not influece and projecting it I don't know what is.

China can then influence the governments indebetd to it and governments it does business with politically because it basically will have the West over a barrell!

It also has nukes, huge army, is working on a navy and a population thats getting richer. Only an idiot would try to argue about them not being the next superpower!

Self made??

Is it not a fact the US owes China a lot of money?
Is it not a fact the EU asked China to buy European countries bonds?
Is it not a fact China is buying up a lot of natural reserves in Africa?
Is it not a fact China buys a lot of natural reserves from Australia.
Is it not a fact every Western Country is trying to get more of the Chinese market and increase their business with them?

Subjective? No.. roll eyes

I don't don't need to use Wiki for my info. laugh
