rizlared: Well Tiananmen was a riot that was incredibly badly handled, not a war!!America has never done the same?? Yet I seem to remember the indigenous population was almost entirely wiped out.
America of course never attacked Mexico, "Texas springs to mind",and the wars listed by Albert were all just figments of enthusiastic journalists!!
Political prisoners are of course so well looked after by the west, never has waterboarding been used by the Americans to extract information!!!!!

Tom, go to any major city in Britain, America, Canada, and I bet you a months wages, on a Saturday night after closing time you will see fights, in clubs, Pubs and in the street, but not in China, not because of police, not because they don't drink, they do, and get very drunk, but because THEY DON'T LIKE FIGHTING, THEY ARE NOT AGGRESSIVE like western people, Yes they are protective, and will fight when required, but nowhere even close to the way western countries rush into battle.
The Asian people are a strange mixture, from the docile gentle submissive Filipinos to the aggressive and cruel Japanese, China fits somewhere in the middle. Don't just take my word for it, search and you will find plenty that supports my opinion

Riz, if China has these problems as all major and large countries do.
Why paint it as a domesiticated land of harmonious tranquility? Because that is the picture that Communist Chinese paint in the media.

Read how the underground Christian church is treated in China. Why does a super power ....or want to be super power.....or tomorrow's super power.....fear the Christian religion? By law only a small group meet at any service. Eight is the number, I think. They are forced to meet in houses and cannot have any type of school or worship site.

When a government enacts laws on a faith.....it is showing a certain degree of weakness and fear of what the faith has. In this case maybe it is the truth. The Communist Chinese don't want that kind of truth free in their controlled society.

We both know why. It was because when the Communist struggle came....post WWII....the Christian missionaries were largely for the National Chinese Government of Chiang Kai-shek. For that many paid the price with their lives and the Christian faith abolished in the country.

When Communist Russia fell apart, what was the one of the first things it re-embraced? The Christian faith.

You seem to suffer from a certain lack of real knowledge regarding everyday China, the problems I highlighted regarding internal fighting and power struggles happened in the past, years ago.

And again you are showing your lack of knowledge and understanding of China, there are Christian churches all over China, when I get time I will take a photo of the one in my local city where you will see it has seating for around 100!!!
China does not recognise religion per se, but acknowledged that some of the population needed to follow a particular belief, Religion was invented to control the masses, in a country the size of China it would be unworkable to have to two or more controlling entities, so the CPC regulate it, Whats wrong with that??? It actually give a more true freedom of choice that maybe you get in the west, where people are indoctrinated from a toddler into believing there is a magical man in the sky who can wave a wand and send fire and brimstone to kill you!!!
You say China is scared of people having a faith, yet China is famous for its Buddhist temples, Buddhism is a faith.

Chiang Kai
Your comment about Chaing is so wrong it's almost laughable, the "Missionaries" were in China not so much to push Religion but to push Opium, Chaing together with massive support from, Guess who?? yes the amazing US of A, tried to re-establish the selling of this drug to the population in order to destroy the chances of the Communist regime winning, and as a sideline, the CIA could make a huge amount of money.

NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG TOM, I don't and never will support Mao's idealogical path, his treatment of people was incredibly cruel and at times beyond belief, but he did end the drug wars, he did bring the whole of China together, which has without doubt, been the major factor as to why today we discussing China becoming a superpower!! China still has a problem with drugs of course, but compared to the west it is almost negligible, that has to be a good thing.

Please, don't just read wiki, read the history from other sources that have been shown to be less biased, you are falling for exactly what you are accusing me!!!!!!

The next superpower will be the UN because the US has given more than it has.
With that being posted the US will lose 2/3rds of the American people because this is the land of freedom and without freedom we are dead already.
What was covented onced, will be lost because ideas can not be controlled.

mr1983: For someone who was "supposedly finished with me", you can't seem to get enough of me. I think it is about time we get back to the subject of the thread. I'm going to go back over the idea that the catch-up effect is one of the causes of the growth rates you see in China at the moment. I know you have ridiculed this and stated it was only a "theory". I responded to this and stated that economics is based on sets of theories. But I think you stated you rejected this due to it been a theory.
1. The theory of liquidity preference.
2. Friedman's theory of interest rates and demand of money
3. Permanent Income
4. The Phillips Curve
5. The Laffer Curve
6. Game theory
7. Moral Hazard
8. Keynesian economics
9. Monetarism
10. Comparative advantage
11. Ricardo's ideas on free trade
12. Efficient Markets Hypothesis
13. Welfare economics
14. Human capital theory(your friend Gary Becker involved here)
15. Consumer choice theory

These are 15 theories in economics that central banks, governments and companies base policies around. I will explain them for you if you'd like. All theories. Do you reject these too?

I didnt reject it for being a theory. Why do you feel the need to make things up??? Is the truth not working for you???laugh

I rejected it because as I have said about 10 times to you now the "Catch up Effect" does not apply to a rich economy like China. It applies to poorer economies and can't apply to the second biggest economy in the world!!!!!! roll eyes

Now thats 11 times I have told you that but you will probably forget it in 2 minutes. You could get a job as a goldfish!!!laugh

mr1983: You named billionaire CEO's who made their billions out of their own ideas. I guarantee you that the people and ecexutive(as you spell it) management that they surround themselves with will have studied him. But you have proved nothing, my friend. You merely shouted down and abused people. But thats life I suppose. I just have to accept that compliance directors don't need good interpersonal skills..

You whole argument was based on only people who have studied Porter are in exexutive management in Ireland. That proves to me you know nothing about business. I pointed out that there are thousands in those positions who have not got a clue who Porter is.

And what would you know about compliance? Have you ever studied it? Have you ever worked in it? But you THINK you know so much about business that you try to tell me (who has worked in the area for years0 what a compliance director should know, how they should act on a website to strangers and the best one of all was you didn't see why a business would need a compliance director!!!! All this with knowing NOTHING about the field!!! That should tell everyone all they need to know about you!!!!!!!

mr1983: Tell me again why you don't accept that the average American is at least five times more productive than the average Chinese person? I feel I want to make a fool of you again.

Fool of me again????rolling on the floor laughing

You started off saying I and everyone in executive management had to have studied Porter. That alone tells everyone how stupid you are! This was crap and was shown to be crap.

Then you started saying the ECB was not a lender of last resort cause there were rules in place. I told you how they got round those rules by using secondary markets.

Then I could could not be in executive management because of my attitude and the language I used towards you on here. And proceeded to tell me what a Compliance Director should know when you have not got a clue about the field. And you could not see why a company needs a compliance director!!!

You told me I could not be in executive management because I was doing my sister a favour on a Friday night by babysitting!

You told me I could not be happy because I was on a dating site.

And you are telling us all this about business at 3am on a Tuesday morning so you dont even have a job!!!!!!!!!!!

Your arguments just change like the wind because it kills you I am in executive management while you're on the dole.

All this without knowing what area I work in too! And you think I am looking like a fool.

rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

So if you want to know why I reject that theory please read back beacuse I am done repeating myself to you goldfish!!

With a memory like that no wonder you can't get a job!!!

sofarsogood74: Well I would love to know what business you work in that you can be awake at 3am and fresh for work. The reason why I said drinking is your posts got more angry over the weekend and more insulting as the night went on. This would tell me you were drinking. And it appears I can't finish with you because you keep coming back with such stupid comments I have to say something. You are even ansering a post here that wasn't directed at you! How sad is that???

I did and I gave you very good reasons why I rejected it. Why do you keep asking me the same stuff goldffish??? That memory is awful. Is it the drink does that??

I do believe I said that one of my main reason there could not be a propert bubble is the Chinese government could do stuff like that....You really are unreal.

I dont need information from you about the Chinese economy. I told you already whay the Chinese economy can cope!! Is your memory really that bad??? I explained ALREADY WHY YOU CAN'T COMPARE THE CHINESE PROPERT MARKET WITH ONE IN THE WEST!!
Do you have alzheimer's??? You keep bringing up stuff I have answered!!!!

Yes I do reject it AGAIN! And I have told you why. So why do you keep asking the same bloody questions??? I told you why I rejected it so read back if you want to know why!!!! I am not repeating myself!!!

And stop asking me the same questions over and over when I have answere them.

Whta are you trying to prove here??? That you know more about economics than me? That you know more about China than me? That I am not in executive management? All of the above?

Beacuse you are failing miserably. You just come across as bitter and sad. I pity you really.

You might like to read some of these articles on the property bubble in China. Oh and I did google them. I wouldn't have been able to prove your rejection wrong otherwise.

I think you will find that most people are in agreement of the existence of the property bubble, they mainly disagree on whether it will lead to a soft landing or a hard landing.

Don't take things so personal. Why do you take it personally when someone has a different opinion than you?

Again you will find I have not changed my position on the ECB having no role of lender of last resort. I have posted links about this regarding what the president of the Bundesbank and ECB say on these matters. I will google the actual articles which prohibit this in the treaties if you'd like.
I understand your contention that the ECB purchased bonds on secondary markets. This was not an act of purchasing government debt from a country. It was the secondary market. The ECB has always purchased bonds and sold bonds on the secondary markets. In this situation they purchased the bonds in order to effect the bond yields of the primary bond market. When bond prices go up, yields go down. Simple supply and demand economics at work here. At no time did they monetise government debt. Why don't they act as a lender of last resort in Greece right now?

No, we should be reading the straight Communist by line....to get our history of China......

1930-50s Christian missionary were in China pushing opium on the people, that came from Afghanistan, Riz? Just let me be clear in what you are saying here. So in other words, now the drug trafficing in China was done by Christians?doh It was never done by the Chinese themselves in their opium houses? That sound pretty much a like Chinese communist statement.

Chiang....was a American allie fighting against the Japanese in WWII. Of course he got aid from the United States. But in Mao's refined and redefined history of China....only his Communist defeated the Japanese
in far east China theatre. But oh no, you not pushing the straight Communist line at us....

Maybe the reason China does not have internal struggles today....is the political prisoners, the religous prisoners.....are to busy digging earth metals out of the mines to struggle.

Take a look someday at the Chinese rare earth mining on Satellite imagery. Tell me if you see any kind of public transportation or bikes or auto parking at the sites. The ones I looked did not have any. Which means.....China does not use civilian labor at those sites. Oh that it is right, China will not even let you look un tampered satellite imagery there....... sorry I am asking to much of you.

It depends on who says what.

For your posts you are very predictable, so what to bother reading what I already know and please do not take offense on that, it is no my intention.

I do not need nor want to change anyone’s beliefs or position towards politics, economics, religion, etc…

I am here to have fun.

Since you have no intention of addressing the issues themselves I take it our correspondence has come to an end. I apologize for boring you but, it's mutual.

r3y5a6: In my opinion, the US has been become less popular to many people in other countries and many countries are showing strength signs of economic prosperity mostly in Asian region whilst the west struggled to recovery.

The UK enjoyed the reign as superpower for around 3 centuries it was too long while the US in just decades of reign now started to weakened maybe because of their war fanatic presidents that mostly contributed to huge debt and worsening the economy.

Perhaps Japan, Iran and Australia are another possible candidates.
Being disliked by other countries doesn't concern those with a backbone.

The catch-up effect applies to developing economies. It is based around the idea of diminishing returns.

Yes. But at the end of the day you said a man could not be in executive management if he hadn't studied Porter. We have proved this to be crap.

Then you said the ECB was not and could not be a lender of last resort. I explained to you how they are because they are using secondary markets! So you were wrong on that one.

sofarsogood74: Those articles are not evedience!!! They are peoples opinion!!!!! And there are as many if not more articles of people with an opposite opinion! Thats not proof! You said you had PROVED me wrong when I said there was not a propert bubble in China!!! Posting links to articles is not proof!

I know what the catch up effect is. And it does not apply to the wrold second biggest economy!!!!!! Simple fact!

You don't know what the catch-up effect is if you can't see why it can't apply to "the world's second largest economy". That's a fact!

Are these facts just opinion!

sofarsogood74: Yes. But at the end of the day you said a man could not be in executive management if he hadn't studied Porter. We have proved this to be crap.

Then you said the ECB was not and could not be a lender of last resort. I explained to you how they are because they are using secondary markets! So you were wrong on that one.

Then you said you didn't know why a company would need a compliance director when you didn't even know what the role was!!!

Then you said you PROVED there was a propert bubble in China when the experts can't agree on it.

So you have failed terribley at every stupid argument you put forward. You claimed to know about economics and said I didn't but anyone can just read the above.

So now I cant be in executive management because of a spelling mistake.

You are really sad. Very bitter because you cant handle the fact I have a better job than you ever will and you dont know as much about economics as you thought you did!!!!

And I didn't study Porter or economics!!!!

You have proved nothing about Porter. I'm telling you that he is thought in virtually every business course in some form in university in Ireland. Your very clear lie on your knowledge of him is testament to the fact you understood his importance to strategy once you checked him up on wiki. You clearly lied on this point. And now you are saying you didn't study him which flies in the face of the answer you gave in the first place. How could someone who didn't study him know that he was "inconsistent in his logical arguments." You are digging a bigger hole, my friend.
I think you will find that experts are now in agreement that there is a property bubble in China. Hard landing vs soft landing is now the debate. And your work involves China everyday. Yeah rightio!
The ECB is not a lender of last resort. You have got this mixed up. I will put up the articles that prohibit this.
You spelled your title wrong in about ten posts. I'm telling you there is virtually zero probability of this occurring unless you didn't know how to spell it in the first place.
Where did I say that a company didn't need a compliance department?
Let me tell you about one of your arguments:
You reject the assertion that the average Americans at least five times more productive than the average Chinese person. This is because you say GDP figures are unreliable. Productivity can be measured many other ways. You accept the GDP(PPP) figures that the IMF use to state that China will be the world's top economy by 2020. How do you manage this? Funnily enough the GDP(PPP) figure will tell you that the average American is nearly 7 times more productive than the average Chinese person!!

I never said GDP Figures were unreliable! Why do you make things up??? Is the truth not working for you or do you not undertsand plain English??? I said if you are measuring GDP per capita like you are then a country like Brunei would have more productive people than the US! Also the cost of living in each country could be vastly differnt!!!!

But as I said they come up with these figures by GDP per capita. Now if these figures were a mark of how productive an economy was then the US would only be 14th in the world (IMF) or 11th (World Bank) depending on who you believe!

Also it does not take the cost of living in a country into account.
The GDP per Capita for a person in the US is 48k. In China its 5.5k. But you give a person in most areas of China 5.5k and they would buy far more with it than a person in the US could with 48K!!!

Also by those figures a person in Luxembourg at 113k is 3 times more productive than a US citizan!! Do you believe this to be the case????

Do you get it now?????roll eyes

They are facts. But they dont PROVE China is in a property bubble!!!!!! I have explained to you why thet are not in one and wont be in one!!!! You can't compare their property market to a market in the West. And I have told you why twice now and I won't again!!!!!!!!

But just to prove you wrong I will quote HSBC chief executive Michael Geoghegan as he dismissed predictions of a Chinese property bubble.
"There'll be some bubbles in some places, but China is a big country, and it won't have a bubble as we understand it in the West," he told an audience at Chatham House, the London think tank. !!!!!!

But you say ALL THE EXPERTS??? You are full of it!!!!!!
