Until is gets its human right house in order. It has so many internal problems from Ghuglies riots to Tibetian monks committing self immoblization. Which have to admit, few past or present super power have such problems.
Has China been able to change the direction of North Korean nuclear and missile programs? China is part of the p-5 group that is trying to get North Korean to change course. But North Korea tried to make a launch test and it still threatening more nuc testing. So China is losing regional face and prestiges in not being able to control a fellow Coummunist country in the region.
Losing face in Asia....is a very big deal by the way.
But let us not talk not once but twice in the last 5 years....the entire senior level staff of China national bank simply disappearing.
Either off to Chinese guglags or off with billions of yuan to Brazilian beaches. Who knows were they went to? Or how much they stole.

There was extreme poverty in the British Empire when it was a superpower as there was in Russia when it was a superpower. And China has a big enough home market now to handle the collapse of the Euro. It wont effect China as much as most.
