Superpower is a dying concept. The world is becoming Multipolar, not Bipolar or Unipolar. Some arguments were made earlier about China in 2030. Way too soon. 2050 is more interesting.

Albertaghost: Strange, I don't see any here. And I get around pretty good..

There is a billion of them! I am sure they get around!

Albertaghost: You have not provided any proof of any sort except some self written tailor made definition to fit your silly contention. Please provide something authoritative with link and quote so you can continue with your bogus contention.

I don't use links like you Wiki nuts. I am educated and have opinions on subjects I know about, not just googled 2 minutes ago! Your problem is you stated China could not project its power and that idiotic statement has been shown up for the pieces of drivel it is. China is projecting its power every day as I have explained. So by your definition or mine China has the ability to be the next superpower!

You lost this arguement long ago when you though China used the Yen!!!laugh You ststed everyone wants American cars even though the US government had to bail out the industry.laugh You can't prove the man you state coined the phrase superpower actually did. laugh

It just shows you know nothing about the subject and are just googling away for info. Really sad.rolling on the floor laughing roll eyes

And you assume that no-one else is educated and has opinions on subjects they know about? An unfounded and baseless generalisation such as this discredits your claim of being educated don't you think?

No I read newspapers, books, I watch the news (non biased news stations), download papers to name a few things. Wiki is far from a reliable source of information and I only comment on subjects I have knowledge of. You and Alberta see any subject on here and you weigh in with stuff you just Googled 2 mins earlier! Sad!

How do you know what I am assuming. I am assuming Alberta is not educated on world affairs as I have seen so many of his posts. He just goes on Wiki to get info on subjects he knows nothing about! He was debating about China and thought their currency was the Yen for goodness sake. Says it all really.

How do I know? Your post used plurals, not singular. Moreover, your post implies that you are the only individual educated in such subjects. It is not difficult, based on your post, to arrive at such a conclusion, and if anything, it is a highly probable assessment.

If you understood English you would see that I gave Wiki as a brief and not as proof. I then, when challenged by yourself provided links and quotes from books. You on the other hand supplied nothing except a closed mind. Sorry, but we have enough silly on this forum already and that was nothing special.

Anyhow, outside of Wiki for the most part substanciating everything with links to the originators which you seem to be unaware, it apears that my reading of books, international intelligence briefs, varied media such as Al Jazeera, the New York Post to Le Figaro and Der Speigal as well as sundry other papers and magazines has at the very least enabled me to provide something rather whereas yourself and your comic book antics cannot even produce one quote or link.

Well done my lightweight friend!

Every country in my opinion has potential to be super power, provided there is proper use of resources n man power...there are many small countries like japan which has the best man power in the world, and there are countries in africa which have abundant resources but lack of skilled men!!!

The country of sofarsogood seems to have some self proclaimed (yet unproven) intellectuals. On the one hand, if others with any credibility at all can prop up their weak assertions they could be when they rewrite the definitions of this achievement or, they may just wallow in self adulation for a bit prior to imploding as so many before have.sad flower

The premise of the survey was: The US is on the decline and which country would be the next superpower. China certainly is the next superpower and onw reason is that America owes China so much money, it would now require more than a hundrfed years for America to pay off that debt. Moreover, even though China has the second largest economy, it is only at the beginning of the climb to the top. It also has a population that views the world in a very different light from Americans.

A second point of course that China is not democartic, capitalistic or christian, in the western notions of those systems. Those facts have begun to raise doubts in the minds of many Americans about their systems.

I read a report last year that puts America 37th in the performance and outcome of its health care system. And even if that ranking is very wrong, the fact that an international organization could rank America below the tenth position is an open indication that America has lost prestige and influence. These are sure signs of global decline.

On last point of importance, it was repoted in 2011, that China, alone, has given or lend more money to the development and other countries than the world bank and the IMF, combined. The amount was in the billions of dollars. America does not have that kind of money to inlfuence the positions of that many world leaders.

The Chinese financial system would seem to be built on sand running through a Rube Goldberg hourglass.

Geithner, Paulson, and Bernanke didn't come up with anything new on this side of the Pacific in 2008, but took a page from the Chinese problem-solving playbook — "shifting money from one pocket to another and letting time and fading memory do the rest." European finance ministers are now attempting the same trick.

Yet In 2009-2010 they "received" approx 41 million in aid from a minnow
like Australia, more front than Meyer I'd rekon. Also I think you'll find the US still gives more in foreign aid than anyone else,so they obviously do have the cash.

China owes a quarter of what the US does and it's GDP is less than half. With the need for aid and repression of it's people a seemingly unsustainable policy it's still a recipient of aid.

Your argument that China can't be the next superpower is idiotic. And as per usual you would flog a dieing horse just to try to your littile mind you are not beaten.

First of all you say China can't project its power. I have shown this to be absolute bull and shown you in facts how their economic power gives them huge influence in the US, EU, Africa and Australia! Also they have long range nukes, are building a navy and have an army of a billion. They are also buying up resources all over the world and entering into lucrative trade deals with many top EU nations and the US! That is projecting power!!!!!!!!And if you read the papers you say you do you will see most intelligent journalists agree China is the upcomiing Superpower and dealing with them economically and in trade is a must to survive in the future!!!!!
