I don't think it was right for the gay community to boycott a business, just because the CEO voiced his opinion. What's with that? Are the gays going to dictate what I feel, or how I express what I feel?
If I have a business, and I feel a certain way about something...that doesn't mean I am going to treat my gay customers any different than I would someone else. That would be biting the hand that feeds you...not good business sense. But, if I feel that marriage should be between a man and a woman...then that is MY opinion, and you have yours. Nothing to do with business! If a gay does not want to patronize my business...then, no problem...but don't punish me for what I believe/feel.
OK, off my soapbox now... Everyone have a fun/safe weekend.
I think the LGBT community can do whatever it is they want as long as their not breaking any laws. In addition, realize as individuals to be prepared to accept the unintended consequences of their actions just as any other group would be subjected to.
I wonder what % of this community actually consumes and the revenue they generate. I suspect that the establishment is is in favor of the free advertisement and all the attention shown.. Sales likely are robust and in this material world any news seems to be good news. It just provides the opportunity for more $$$$$$. I think Chick-fill should thank the LGBT folks.

Just because a person is CEO of a company...he doesn't have an opinion???? How do you think he got to that position? Because of his opinions, intellect and common sense.

Witchaywoman: Boycott boycott boycott.
I read that Chick-Fil-A had customers lined up clear out the door by the people who support the CEO's decision to the extent that they actually ran out of chicken.
Furthermore, this is one boycott that this publisher will NOT support because it is promoting an agenda that is wrong. Our Creator created marriage to be between a man and a woman.

People lined up out the door and around the block. Drive thrus were lined up down a city block and in one case over a mile away. This happened all across the country. Straight and yes, even gay people alike. All to support freedom of speech. In Youngstown, Oh. the representative of the Rainbow Coalition stated on tv that the applications for Chick Fil A not only asked a person if they are in a relationship but also what gender said partner is. Now anyone who ever filled out a job application in the past.. oh I don't know... 40 years or so in the US knows that is illegal. No company would be able to get away with that. Besides, anyone can get one of the apps and prove her comment wrong. To me she did more damage to her cause with that comment then she did help it. JMO

everyone is entitled to their opinion and freedom of speech should be there for all, whether for or against, each side is entitled to speak. We might not like or agree with what has been said but we should be intelligent enough to accept the other side of the argument.

It appears He might be changing his mind,,, confused to say the least,,
Notice the second ingredient in the spice and coating... Chick fil a is among the crappier fast food along with KFC and BK that use alot of MSG as the secret ingredient..
Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful. ~Buddha

For the past few days I've been reading everything I can on this topic. It's really not as "hot" as some of the news shows portray it to be. First, companies may have their opinions. This is the United States. A good example is found in the medical services here in Oregon. Catholic hospitals publicly denounce physician-assisted suicide, which is legal here. Many hospitals and clinics won't perform abortions. Companies can advertise openly that a competitor is performing less than standard. My take on it is that fast food, especially that particular fast food, isn't very good for you, and, like anything else, you don't have to eat there. I see nothing wrong with Chick Fil A stating an opinion on current news. (You know, if we say we're liberal, then we have to try and understand everybody's point of view. I'd rather have Chick Fil A get their opportunity to say how they feel than have some policy that tries to prevent it. Freedom isn't a plaything for only certain sides' agendas.

Oops... I meant to say I agree with you Rohann. After all, Cathay was speaking in response to a direct question and not out deliberately baiting the issue. With that said - imagine a world where you did not feel free to respond honestly to a question for fear to upsetting the government, latest special interest group, the man next door?
Freedom works both ways...You cannot shut people up just because you disagree with them.

Ever heard of a non Jew working in a Jewish Deli or owning one? It is totally acceptable and right that one should be. Just imagine a Jewish Deli with non-Jews serving you...get real.

I firmly believe that everyone should and must have the inalienable and even the unalienable right to say whatever they like about anything or anyone, at any time or anyplace they feel moved to do so. In fact, I'd go so far as to make it a mandatory obligation by law! This is the ultimate in 'freedom of speech'...speak now or forever hold your piece while you rot in a jail for failing to voice your opinion no matter what and regardless of your mental faculties ...or lack thereof... #@%*&!!! (ummmm, can laughter be made mandatory...
I think in the end, its all a tempest in a tea-pot. Its obvious this company is a dinasour that didnt keep up with the times. In the end I imagine they will also go the way of the dinasour so it will all amount to nothing.

So a business such as Maggiano’s Restaurants can only provide Italian service staff to assist their customers by your reasoning? Someone not Italian has no business in seeking a job or career at this eatery. By the way, it’s a public company and I’m pretty sure all are welcome for employment as I’ve observed this to be the case while patronizing.
Or is it only privately owned companies that you seem to believe can discriminate against and give a free pass to? By the way, Cleveland has an organization that is made up of independent restaurateurs who compete against the national brands and it is a melting pot that provides some fine cuisine and the opportunity for gainful employment for those who wish to participate without having to have a certain ethinicity to qualify.
