I've just looked at the vote breakdown.
I suggest, the older we get the more likely we are to protest against acting our age. There certainly appears to be a certain amount of kicking and screaming going on.
Perhaps once maturity is established we no longer feel the need to prove it. Perhaps once 40, or more years have zipped by, we feel a need to make the most of the next 40, or more zipping by.
Perhaps we've just lost more friends and wished we'd spent more time laughing with them.

With hungry hearts through the heat and cold We never much thought we could get very old We thought we could sit forever in fun. And our chances really was a million to on

How many a year has passed and gone Many a gamble has been lost and won And many a road taken by many a first friend And each one I've never seen again
I wish, I wish, I wish in vain That we could sit simply in that room again Ten thousand dollars at the drop of a hat I'd give it all gladly if our lives could be like that

weeelll..i've never been accused of maturity before... and i'm not even sure at this point what type of behavior is 'age appropriate' but i do have days when i feel that clock ticking towards an expiry date now...and it definitely has effected what i think is important in my life. instead of worrying about trying to act my age, i do try to be more conscious of my choices, and appreciate today a bit more than i used to.

Yup, I think we get to an age when we realise life isn't for eternity and we should enjoy the moment...like a child.

Reminds me a bit of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb "When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse...out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone...the child is grown the dream is gone..."
I agree...we should be able to enjoy the moment through the eyes of our inner child
KIBALUV: Where is the "Act Your Age" gestapo? They should be tried & hung for imposing discriminating acts against humanity!
I'm not sure how someone my age is supposed" to act.
All I know is that I feel like I'm still in my twenties so why should I let my energy and life go to waste? I'm an active woman with a vivacious personality and proud of it. I look very young for my age and I think it's because of my "young" attitude.
Don't get me wrong, I don't run like I did in my twenties. I'm very mature and responsible but I'm not quite ready to be in my pajama's and in bed by 7 p.m.!
