Voila' the video that's going around the world, everybody should see this. Is technology killing us or we can eventually stop it from happening?
Wonderful video !! Took me right back to the 80's where there were none of this!
i watched it about 2 weeks ago. It is done well, in fact a lot of what I have been talking to some friends about. While I venture out on the roadway I see people walking aimlessly with their head down, texting while they almost walk into traffic, they are mentally removed from their own physical space. Not the smartest way to go.

yep, and this is mostly between the teenager ages. So fritening!! Walking down the road looking down on the screen!! The video is shocking and so well done and so true. I've already shared it on my facebook page with every single person that I know .
Yes, I believe technology is slowly killing eye contact.
I've had people contact me through CS who only want to have conversations via facebook or texting. That, unfortunately is very sad, cause that does not help you get to know the other person.
So, I will refuse contact with said person, if that is how they wish to get to know each other.
Anyway, it should go back to the old fashioned ways of talking on the phone, versus messages through facebook etc. JMO
“Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.”

Interpersonal and communication skills amongst people are deteriorating as well as they become more reliant on devices to communicate for them, thats not to mention practical life skills that (heaven forbid) should the batteries all run flat and the power goes out and there is no google or app to tell you what to do next, will leave alot of people in a very helpless situation indeed.
Obstinance_Works: Ancient Greece didn't last long after Socrates.
Ancient Greece was a Greek civilization belonging to a period of Greek history that lasted from the Archaic period of the 8th to 6th centuries BC to the end of antiquity (ca. 600 AD).

Yes it has but that's not the option I chose from your poll . I went with Depends on us because it does and that's where we are today from having shut out ordinary everyday conversation/interaction to a large degree . Eye contact in actual company of a person or touch can say a thousand words that technology can't ever replace .

All good posts on here , but i think yours hits the nail on the head .

Greece was under Macedonian rule 70 years after Socrates, and conquered by the Romans in the 2nd century BC. Historians consider the time of the Peloponnesian wars to be the start of Greece's decline, wars which ended 5 years before Socrates died.

Absolutely 100%, and that's exactly how I think about it too!

I've disliked what I'm seeing in regards to communication for quite some time now. The internet, and the technology for cell phones, notepads, facebook, twitter, et al, has diluted personal one-on-one interaction to a lost, or nearly lost, integral component of our humanity. I agree that it has its place in appropriate application; it was never intended to replace human contact/"real" conversation. I avoid it as much as possible, but not altogether. Like anything else, useful in moderation but detrimental in large doses. JMO

sure glad you think so! Better not tell Chris that Goo,or he would slap you Longdistance from his Island!
I think that technology has certainly driven a rift between actual face to face communication but there programs that do allow for personal face to face contact such as Sk*pe. I use it all the time and It's just as good as being there. I have hour long discussions with friends and family and I feel like I'm actually there without having to get on a plane or drive for a ridiculous amount of time to be there. It is second best to being there but much cheaper than actual travel costs. I try to set the camera up so that it looks as if I'm talking directly to them. There is a slight offset but you are still seeing the facial expressions. I just wish that more people would use it instead of typing emails to each other or chat messaging without cameras. Of course for me I pipe it through my 50" TV so I see large full images while we talk. The biggest problem is that most ISP's keep upload speeds very low. So If I'm using 1080P then I need extra bandwidth to keep up with the streaming video. Most packages only give you 1Mb/s upload which is insufficient for 1080 or even 720 streaming. You need at least 4Mb/s continuous for good quality streaming.
