Apparently a woman knows in 20 seconds whether she would mate with a man or not - and I say mate deliberately, because that knowing is from a very primitive part of the brain.
Of course we can and do override that instant reaction for various social reasons (he's funny and charming, or I'm lonely, or he's offering me a good time or just plain old what the hell) but that 20 seconds covers 'is he healthy, would he make strong healthy babies with me and be able to hunt for us all when I am tied to the cave with the babies'

Oh dear, I don't agree with the second comment but you only have to look at people and their dogs to see how true the first comment is.

That will be quite a feat with my wife. She is chinese and I am EuroAustralian. So for us to look similar, either she or I will have to undergo surgery, I think.
