I think I would not want to give up coins and paper currency for digital currency because it is no one else's business how, when or where I spend my money.
This isn't only about tracking, it's about control. Think about the recent Covid BS they just put us all through and now with all of the woke nonsense and "cancelling" people. They will close your accounts shutting off your ability to pay for anything or conduct business if your government chooses to.

bemyneighbor: Didn’t Greece confiscate bank accounts back around 2016?
They did it without a full digital wrap up of currency, and the pensioners got robbed first..
The US is another going for full digital currency, rolled out first of April and they want it sorted by July The politicians are trying to overwhelm the people with new laws/rules constantly..
All the info here if anyone's interested in U.K. Sterling.
But that's no different to using your debit card or revolut..... I was under the impression from here that the paper pound was being replaced by digital currency but both are running side by side
Anyone who think digital is the way to go should talk to the people who had all that crypto currency stolen. Any time the governments want to, all they have to do is pull all currency like Germany did with the Mark and say turn in all cash in exchange for what we chose to give you in trade. With digital, how much easier can it get? Every time I run into issues due to the fact that I am a Luddite, I think about all those people who do without due to poverty, education and others. No! I do NOT do apps. By choice. I do not own a high end smart phone. I dont do podcasts. Maybe those homeless and poor dont have any of it either. And how many of them are there around the world. It is not just us boomers who chose to avoid this age of tech. There are millions who can't afford it, have access to it or have no cards with a chip to pass over a scanner. That is why digital will not work. I get angry at those who can't understand the whole world doesn't walk around with a thousand dollar phone glued to their ear. Or game. Or own a tablet, PC, laptop, printer and an Xbox. Those who can't understand everyone can't download their app, scan that code on the TV or magazine. It is the equivalent of of a farmer who can't understand why everyone doesn't know how to milk a cow in a modern milking parlor. Or plant a crop in a 100K computerized tractor. The haves can't see the have nots.

The credit and value differences between the different currency must play a part, maybe more credit held/required for less value currencies when trading.. More control of a fast becoming worthless thing money...

I fully get your post but a link posted earlier clearly says digital is running side by side of the existing currency and not replacing it

It's one of my lesser concerns with the inevitable world of technology.
My problem is knowing we are ruled by donkeys. Can they manage yet another spinning plate when keeping the lights on might prove too much for them? The arrogance of these donkeys to make it so complex when they're a f*cking donkey. This advanced stuff when our governments need to be dropped into a lower stream of remedials. It fails to manage the complexity of now, how is more complexity supposed to help?
I would be happier if one of the smarter cultures takes the lead with this. One of the smarter cultures but also one of the more militarized cultures content to regiment their lives.
What we've inherited here in a country like Britain works too well. We have too much lose and every reason to suggest that we will lose. We should remain closer to our heritage because we'd only end up doing something stupid
The Fed's Digital Dollar Is Here! It is official. The digital dollar, once talked about, is here. Reuters reported that on Tuesday November 15th, 2022, a statement from the Fed's of New York, announcing that Global Banking Giants and the New York Fed are testing the digital dollar in a 12-week pilots.
Citigroup, HSBC, Mastercard, and Wells Fargo are among the financial companies participating in the experiment. According to New York Fed, the project, which is called the regulated liability network, will use simulated data.
How will that affect you and your finances? Well, go figure. You will no longer have any privacy whatsoever. Your hard-earned savings will be "worth-less". Surely the dollar will continue to devalue resulting in heavily diminishing your purchasing power. Learn more .
Our government will know what you have, where you have it, and how you are spending it. This is the ultimate control that they are after. It limits and blocks the way you spend your money unless obtaining their approval at first.
Therefore, your money is no longer safe! Prepare for the worst. Your dollar could be worth a fraction of what it is worth today.
They are all in cahoots. Americans can't afford for their wealth to be tested on. We are not in a "Financial Rat-Lab" . Enough is Enough, we have suffered greatly.
Time is no longer on your side, and you can't afford to gamble anymore with your money. The reset is real, and the project to replace the "king of currencies" is underway.
You shouldn't have to work as hard to protect your wealth are key. Investing in gold and silver can help you sit back and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with protecting your retirement.
Copied and pasted the above......is it just Europe and the UK

Certainly not. I'm more curious about The EU and England right now because as I've read elsewhere and watched in this video that Europeans have a $1,000.00 cash spending limit per transaction (if I understand that right) and then face a gray area or fine or imprisonment @ 6:25 into the op video. they are using fear again to gain control by blaming terrorist.

Ooops .. I meant 1,000 euro cash spending limit (not dollar)

I seems Big Brother is coming nearer fast. All because of the so called security! But is this true? Noticing how parliaments work today I tend to believe it. Example given, the Belgian Federal parliament voted a rule on which members of the parliament could get a 20% bonus on their legal pension depending on the years of duty. This rule was voted in...2 minutes time by all the members of the parliament, except two little opposition parties. After a scandal this law was abolished. It shows the gap between rich and poor is becoming bigger, are we returning to medieval situations?? Is the middle class becoming a tread for the high society?? On the other hand I do not believe there will be a switch to total digital currency. First the digital system is still to vulnerable for all kind of fraud and hacks! Another difficulty occurs as entrepreneurs and all kind of rich people love to defraud the tax authorities, so they move their capitals to foreign banks where their capital is safe from the tax authorities. A common way to do it are cash money transports. If everything went digital, this operation should become impossible so....
digitalisation as a complement to cash could be a blessing, digitalisation as a replacement for cash is would be a disaster What about the freedom of choice?
What's happening now in Western countries throughout the world is in essence a controlled demolition. The people in charge - from the politicians to the bankers - know the game is up and that their system is on its last legs before it all collapses. So what they're doing is trying to consolidate power and position themselves to be able to STAY in power once the shít really hits the fan. How they intend to achieve this IMO is via these central bank digital currencies (CBDC). They'll likely try to incentivize people to use CBDC - they'll try to leverage the pain and suffering people are feeling - probably by offering free money initially to lure people in. But it would be a HUGE mistake to allow them do this. First of all, why should the people who presided over a corrupt system that led to collapse be allowed to keep power? The answer is simple: they SHOULDN'T. But more importantly, a CBDC system - should it be implemented - would afford government TOTAL CONTROL over the citizens. CBDC's are programmable. That means government could control who has access to money, who has access to goods and services, based on parameters solely of the government's choosing. Criticize the government in any way? Oops - there goes your ability to access goods and services!
People need to understand what time it is. And think not just about yourself, but what kind of world you want left for the younger generation, and the generations that will follow. Freedom is hard won. What would the heroes of WW2 think if we were just to surrender our fundamental right to freedom for a little temporary convenience? We simply mustn't allow that to happen. Things ARE changing. From a system ripe with corruption and that was always destined to fail. But what replaces it... that's up to us. And nothing good ever came without struggle. So put on the armor of God. Take a deep breath. And get ready.
