venere08: Yes, shhhh, as it's spring time there....he's sure to resurrect them.
There we go again...all biblical!
It's not your fault, Fil. I think most women tend to get biblical when they see Antonio Banderes in his tightie whities... If you listen you can hear them whispering...."There is a God!!!"
ttom500: I would buy your answer, Jvaski ...if President Obama and his Treasury Chairman were on the same page. But they are telling opposite stories here.
I derived this deduction after I wrote to my congressman and got an answer that was unacceptable............. our congressional representatives are living in a fantacy world where money is printed ...........
The answer I got was about an accountability proposal to congress where fines of a couple hundred thousand would be imposed on banks that broke the rules with TARP money .... Problem is , when one gets "BILLIONS" one isn;t gonna care about a few hundred thousand in penalties .......... I think Obama himself is really trying to do the right thing, but his hands are tied with cleaning-house to get things done.

Juan...part of Obama's great appeal is his ability to speak clearly and command an audience. He also has no problem "demanding" things from anyone and, apparently, everyone.
All the man had to do was say..."Listen people, before we hand out trillions of dollars in bailout money, we should insist on certain concessions from these institutions." He would have had the full support of every American and Congress would have been stopped dead in it's tracks.
WhatUwish4: I don't think they have any business sense either, but they sure were slick when it came to organizing and adding in all those hundreds of special interest allocations in the "economic recovery" package. I can't help but think that whole bailout bru-ha-ha was made to look twice as urgent as it was just so they could push their personal agenda through. A big smoke screen. Unfortunately, it ended up causing a very real, very big world problem ....
The very real world problem was already there. It was simply a great opportunity to spend alot on their pet projects and put some money in their buddy's pockets ....

We have a very basic morals problem in this country . The stack market rallying right now is a pure example of it . Everyone wants to take the easiest shortcut to make money, and with success.......it's become acceptable . It's the "because I can " age .........

Absolutely there was a big problem there. And it was a set-up of the first order...but I do believe they blew the problem waaaayyy out of proportion in order to distract the public from it's real agenda. In doing so, people panicked and the domino effect kicked in. Much the same as what JP Morgan did back in the depression. It's inexcusable.
Take the automobile companies, for example. Sure they had problems (unions a big part of it). They've always had problems of one kind or another and clearly they need to change their business formula just like half of all corporate America, but they were managing well enough until all this crap started happening. The reason they suddenly went down the toilet is because people stopped buying cars. If you had a grocery store and suddenly everyone stopped buying groceries, what do you think would happen to your business???
jvaski: I agree that he failed us there ...........
Please don't tell anyone I said that
It's GOOD to agree from time to time! I've conceeded to plenty of your logical points, too. It never should be an issue of one party against another...we would all be better off if we stopped blindly spouting party line rhetoric and started THINKING like Americans instead.

" Make Hay while the sunshines" Does that mean we can have a roll in the hay during these cloudy days ?
WhatUwish4: We've had a lot of laughs. It would have been more fun if you were around though.
Hmmmm...and just where were you young lady????
Some of us do have to work for a living so we can keep paying taxes and see our Government throw it away.... Damn did I say that out loud in a political forum!!
Well, I have some very inportant business to attend to , will have to come back later and resume........... Have a wonderous day yout two .......... Dori, someone has to work ............
