Maybe. My problem is. China is loaded with think tanks. And they are good and tough. They find a weak spot in a countries economy (think the CONOCO buy out), in a trade deal (think the conversion of the guidance control to their military ICBMs) and they exploit it fast and hard.
China and Russia helped NKorea get both nuclear materials program and nuc. Helped with technology transfers and with installion engineering/construction.
Now here we sit with a growing nuc crisis.....and who holds the card deck? China. At least that is what the talking heads in DC are saying. Letting China hold the deck of cards in this one is like asking the dealer of texas holdem high stakes game.....where he has his brother at the table....not to deal from the bottom.:-)

Not much to challenge when someone so old resorts to name calling to try and get his point across.
Anyone up for a trip to the DMZ? SKorea and the US 30 minutes ago placed their forces on "high alert". Highest alert level since 2006.

Personally, I would like little brother to have a few tells, before I dealt him that ace off the bottom of the deck. If his eye is twitching and he looks like a zombie (ala Premier Kim)..I might just toss that Ace to the sweet honey sitting next to him.

Older guy told me he does not bother to worry about world issues because in 75 years none of the things predicted happend and what did happen was often unexpected.
I've been told an insane amount of gear used by the military is coming out of China now. Not a very bright move if true.
My guess for the threat to humanity will be famine related to disease attacking our crops that have no real genetic variety or perhaps some new and exciting disease attacking the human population.
Pandemic or epidemic has been the cry of wolf several times in the last few decades so when the real deal comes along it is possible that people will not give it proper regard.

Paint all the roofs in the world white and slow global warming. This unusual proposal came from the US Energy Secretary Professor Steven Chu at a three-day Nobel laureate symposium in London.
According to President Barack Obama’s “green guru”, the white roofs would save homes in hot countries energy and money on air conditioning and reduce global warming by reflecting heat into space rather than allowing it to be absorbed by dark surfaces where it would contribute to the earth’s warming.
“If you look at all the buildings and if you make the roofs white and if you make the pavement more of a concrete type of color rather than a black type of color and if you do that uniformly, that would be the equivalent of... reducing the carbon emissions due to all the cars in the world by 11 years – just taking them off the road for 11 years," the Nobel Prize-winning physicist said.
The symposium, which is hosted by the Royal Society and the Prince of Wales, has gathered some 60 scientific experts and 20 Nobel laureates to talk about climate change. The meeting will end in a memorandum that could influence an international climate pact due to be agreed in Copenhagen this December.

Agreed. I'd think there are a lot of technologies that the US has in it's arsenal that is a well kept secret from the public and the rest of the world. I think the US would draw that card if it was on the brink of something really serious, but more in terms of conventional combat but I am sure they are adapting to the new modern combative ways as far as the technology goes.
