As a Retired War Veteran, with excellent health care that's provided by the Veterans Admim.,I volunteer for the health care system, this bill will now help individuals without health insurance. Those that oppose this bill, have no understanding how the bill works because they've not taking the time to read what's in the bill. Opinion polls are a crock of bull, they only interview those that's opposing the bill. Tell you what, lose your health insurance, you have no money, and ''bam'', you get sick. So, are you saying, those that are negative, you would rather die than except the health insurance that was just passed. Ha Ha, you know the answer!!! Read the bill before you post negative comments about something you have no clue!!!

One more thing regarding the health bill that was passed. How in the heck can someone from another country say, ''people sold down the river"" Hey fellow, what's your health insurance benefits like. Ask me, and I'll tell you because I did read what benefits your country offer, you would be shocked if you knew what the your politicians are doing to ''screw'' you and your fellow countrymen and women. Learn and know something before you offer an opinion that full of crock and bull. Remember, don't piss on my foot and tell me its raining when the sun is bright over head. Meant no disrespect to you or your opinion.

It might have been nice to read the bill prior to passage. 2000 pages in 72 hours is information overload for me.
Not sure about you KC....but seems you jumped out into the wild blue by such a volunteering. What was the first thing taught in basic...never volunteer.
But am interested to know....how does one volunteer for a National Health care program? How does one forgo benefits that are guarranteed by your military services and the existing VA bill? Seem to me that if you place your social security card down on any VA desk, you would still get those benefits......no matter what you have declared, forgone or volunteered for.
Heck I might want to use the same tactic. I don't like a VA doctor or treatment program.....I bail on it but then I don't report the change in programs still pick up the VA benefit check......and pick up the National health care program. But that sounds alot like double dipping to me.
You would not be teaching Vets how to double dip on this would you KC? Can you give us a link to your Health Care Volunteer Advocate program?

OH FFS this whole site has been hi-jacked by healthcare/Obama threads. Fine if these threads are in appropriate forums but there are so many it has become exclusive to those who are interested in the debate (personally I am) but why so many threads addressing the same debate?? Do you think new members will maybe get the wrong impression of what this site was designed for???
hmmmnm... it could really go either way, since it can do that, it's all really up in the air... so therefore whomever can jump the highest can lean it that way.. but then-again, whomever can afford the best trampoline to jump the highest wins... = trampoline = not a very good trampoline
jvaski: Today - all Republicans and Conservatists got a nice dry hard shaft that is still stinging !
Unless you are not american then I say you'll be screwed also, I forgot you probably don't mind give your money to the government? Being from Cali, you LOVE Government Programs?
BTW- I want to be a Libertarian The republicans have gotten to soft for me...
1. Once reform is fully implemented, over 95% of Americans will have health insurance coverage, including 32 million who are currently uninsured.
2. Health insurance companies will no longer be allowed to deny people coverage because of preexisting conditions—or to drop coverage when people become sick.
3. Just like members of Congress, individuals and small businesses who can't afford to purchase insurance on their own will be able to pool together and choose from a variety of competing plans with lower premiums.
4. Reform will cut the federal budget deficit by $138 billion over the next ten years, and a whopping $1.2 trillion in the following ten years.
5. Health care will be more affordable for families and small businesses thanks to new tax credits, subsidies, and other assistance—paid for largely by taxing insurance companies, drug companies, and the very wealthiest Americans.
6. Seniors on Medicare will pay less for their prescription drugs because the legislation closes the "donut hole" gap in existing coverage.
7. By reducing health care costs for employers, reform will create or save more than 2.5 million jobs over the next decade.
8. Medicaid will be expanded to offer health insurance coverage to an additional 16 million low-income people.
9. Instead of losing coverage after they leave home or graduate from college, young adults will be able to remain on their families' insurance plans until age 26.
10. Community health centers would receive an additional $11 billion, doubling the number of patients who can be treated regardless of their insurance or ability to pay.
You really need to get a life and get off this kick your on.

1st - I have read the bill, and as a doctor who has worked with Medicare, Medicaid, and private payer insurance for more many years, I can categorically say this bill is bad medicine because it will lower the number of doctors available and it will lower the standard of care.
2nd - I spent more time reading the bill than anyone in this clown congress.

Don't you flaunt your excellent care with the Vetrans Administration. Maybe before you do that you might want to check and see how it is in the other states What's wrong are you really the one with no clue? The vetrans hospitals here are something to be ashamed of. And shame on you for acting like they aren't we are trying to get them cleaned up. So it don't help when people act like it is not a problem. When you lose a loved one due to the neglect in one then maybe I will read you bull idiots the world is full of them.

StressFree: "This was long overdue! I pay a fortune for health insurance and anyone who says our system is the best in the world is simply wrong. We may have great facilities and doctors but the insurance companies constantly hike up premiums and sneak in costs whenever they can. Thank you, Mr. President and the Democrats for passing this bill!!!" - FB friend...
