Thank you. It really was a most enjoyable experience. But catching up now I am home... well that's got my head spinning. I was invited to four parties within days of arriving home. 'Tis the time of year I guess.
So, how have you been? I thought you would be at work at this time of day?
Serenity4two -- You do live in a lovely country, Serenity. I rather liked Wales too... I had dinner in a castle there, but I didn't really stay long enough to explore and see marked differences. Dartmoor appealed to me in England too... it was so beautiful, although I am told... whilst the weather was perfect the day I was there, usually it is forlorn. Still... it's so appealing.
And when I was staying in Sheffield, England one night... I had no idea how close I was to my Great Grandmothers birthplace until the next morning when we drove past the signage.
As for visiting you... My Grandfather was born in Northern Ireland, it's the one place I feel I should have visited and did not.
GoDaniel -- Thank you, Daniel... you are most welcome.
GUZMAN1 -- I didn't have any complaints about the Australian accent... except when an Irishman copied it so badly. It's embarrassing having to explain that he was only let out for day release.
Bogart_1960 -- Well if you are anything like myself, you will be looking forward to returning to work. I wish you well with the return.
What I have missed on the last few trips I have made Bogart is the freedom to wander off and explore nooks and crannies. When I just go somewhere and explore by myself... I get to see more of the less touristy stuff and I really do enjoy that.
prettyandwitty -- I am not surprised that I got that backwards... I am surprised I didn't mess a bit more up. I don't recall consider I went to France either, but I did land in Calais... I just don't believe we explored anything there. Oddly enough though, my foster parents were over in London at the same time as me and we could have caught up, had I known they were there.
Calliopesgirl ... it was quite an experience. I recall saying I had no interest in seeing Asian countries, but after agreeing to go when I was out drinking one night... I really , looking back on it, enjoyed my trip to Thailand last year.
But we often choose countries based on our personal desires, which is understandable...for me, I wanted to see Scotland and Germany. They were on the top of my list. However... Ireland appealed a great deal to me, as did England... and Hungary was well worth the visit.
Mike, there was much about Ireland that impressed me. The locals were mostly friendly, except one guy... he kept imitating the Australian accent... do you KNOW how annoying that gets???
Bogart, travel for me is very personal. I travel to understand, to explore, to expound upon ideas from my past and ... maybe find a different pathway in future.
Ireland for me... it captured me. It's incredibly beautiful and people are laid back there, so it is akin to a home feeling for me.
Other than that, I am quite well... almost completely over the jetlag and ready to plan my next adventures. How is everything with you?
Happy, thanks for stopping by. It's interesting I was looking as psychological reviews last week and how different things affect different individuals... given them their roles in life. A CEO present comment that 'leaders are readers'... although I wondered when they had time to read??
I started in London... to Brussels (Belgium) ...to Frankfurt (Germany)...to Salzburg (Austria)... to Wien (Austria)...Budapest (Hungary)...to Prague (Czech Republic)...to Berlin (Germany)...to Rhineland (Germany).
I loved the sightseeing tour I did in Brussels , the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna, Budapests Danube Cruise, the Hungarian night out, the Czech dinner and show, the sightseeing in Prague, the Rhine Valley cruise, Ziko's night out in Berlin and of course Potsdam and Cecilienhof. There was so much to see in a relatively short time. Stand out locations for me would be Budapest and Berlin though.
I would return to Berlin!!!
You want to stay in my humble abode, Mike? Well I could do with a butler... Can you practice saying, "You Rang"?
Nice to see you again! Actually I refrained from drinking early in my tour and made up for it later in the tour. Although... I have some incredible wines in my modest collection at home from this region.
Well I have plenty of guest rooms... and with St Elmo's suggestions, I should have it furnished in no time. I was until then looking at more of the conventional furniture...but his has so much character... it's hard to pass it by.
I have a Christmas party at my house every year... was your invitation lost in the mail. There is no accounting for how bad the mail service IS these days!
I am 'religious' with my puddings, Bogart... I have been making them for 21 years, this Christmas will be my 22nd. I also make a fruit cake for Christmas, traditionally of course. ( to date, I have not burned one.. please desist from jinxing me)
RE: I didn't
Non, it's ever so nice that you do the research for so many...
