An experience worth noting

I promised to divulge a little about my trip away when I returned from it, however... I have been inordinately busy and ... well lazy I guess.

I flew to England and found that even with the stopover in Singapore... the flight was dreadful to say the least. Although, I doubt you could make a flight that long pleasurable. In the end though, it's just a means to an end. I arrived with jetlag and to combat the lag, it was recommended that I keep busy on my first day arriving.

I booked a "Taste of London" tour with Cosmos when I arrived and headed to a quirky pub with a girl I met in the lobby of the hotel. The tour included the dinner, the transport to/from the pub and a river cruise of the Thames.

It was strange sharing this experience with about 25 strangers but as I had a new friend, I was happy enough keeping her company and chatting to her. The friend I met was from Australia also, Brisbane to be exact.

We weren't disappointed with the quirkiness of the pub... the food wasn't the best I had in London, but I was tired that night so anything would suffice. As for the sights of London??! It's incredible to have a tour and hear so much about a city you have heard about all of your life.

Whilst London was the beginning for me, seeing what I did during the month I remained on that side of the world still has images running through my head. There was so much to hear, to learn, to see and do. I gave it my best shot...but I missed so much. sigh laugh

For me though... Yes, London is worth experiencing... but so was Brussels, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic... and then of course, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. I believe I lost my heart in Ireland. heart beating

wow thanks for the visuals otherwise, i would not have read your blog, i cant bring myself to reading long posts! glad you had a good time, i did enjoy london, but i love the country side more, people were more welcoming and friendly wave
Morning Abagail..How are you ?

humm... let me see: a few whines, and a few preferences. nothing major this time.
but imagine this: travel the world on foot, fall in love somewhere and try getting there… now that’s a major project. I like to travel, but losing my hearth would be my worst nightmare..as travel for me is a little bit more than just "travel".
I am sure you had a great time.

for you, coffee
Abawave ..I am glad you enjoyed your stay over here in the Emerald Isle irish cheers
Happy, thanks for stopping by. It's interesting I was looking as psychological reviews last week and how different things affect different individuals... given them their roles in life. A CEO present comment that 'leaders are readers'... although I wondered when they had time to read??
Bogart, travel for me is very personal. I travel to understand, to explore, to expound upon ideas from my past and ... maybe find a different pathway in future.

Ireland for me... it captured me. It's incredibly beautiful and people are laid back there, so it is akin to a home feeling for me.

Other than that, I am quite well... almost completely over the jetlag and ready to plan my next adventures. How is everything with you?
HI ABAGAIL GLAD TO KNOW YOU ENJOYED IRELAND DID YOU SEE MUCH THERE
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE PART DID YOU TAKE ANY NICE PHOTOOS OR VIDEOS THERE DID YOU GET TO CORK

Hi Abagail, it sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime trip, great to hear you enjoyed it! wave
Mike, there was much about Ireland that impressed me. The locals were mostly friendly, except one guy... he kept imitating the Australian accent... do you KNOW how annoying that gets???tongue
Hello K...

I thought of you in Ireland , wondered if you were far from my beaten track. I probably only just missed you.

Once in a lifetime? hmmm... I believe I may go back to the UK, I have friends in Scotland that insist I should return.
wow, what an experience...though I would like to travel only to one or two places....conversing
Calliopesgirl ... it was quite an experience. I recall saying I had no interest in seeing Asian countries, but after agreeing to go when I was out drinking one night... I really , looking back on it, enjoyed my trip to Thailand last year.

But we often choose countries based on our personal desires, which is understandable...for me, I wanted to see Scotland and Germany. They were on the top of my list. However... Ireland appealed a great deal to me, as did England... and Hungary was well worth the visit. bouquet
Hi Abagail its good you were impressed ,the people here are friendly in general

Abagail, doing really great, as i am ready to return to work tomorrow...!!

I agree, Ireland is just great, and people have great hearth, but don’t spread the word also. I do understand what you saying, as I like to travel because I like differences.

just to do the sights is not important to me, as I don't travel for the places, I want to speak with people, and i do try to make that my objective. it is the only way i´ve learn to know a different culture. I've had some amazing experiences and it opens up a whole new world for us!!

great, no complain !!
Brussels is the capital of Belgium
all the rest are countries teddybear
HI Abagail
glad to know you are back home safely
and that you had a wonderful time on your travels around so many countries thumbs up
I am not surprised you feel as if you " lost " your heart in our fair Isle grin you are not the first or the last , that has happened to grin Most , if not all visitors fall inlove with Ireland and it's people thumbs up
I must strongly advise when you come back , that you visit us up in the north west corner of Ireland thumbs up you would be most welcome .
I am so happy , you had such a lovely time --come back soon good luck good luck grin
Great photos Abagail, thanks for sharing them thumbs up thumbs up
GUZMAN1 -- I didn't have any complaints about the Australian accent... except when an Irishman copied it so badly. It's embarrassing having to explain that he was only let out for day release.

Bogart_1960 -- Well if you are anything like myself, you will be looking forward to returning to work. I wish you well with the return.

What I have missed on the last few trips I have made Bogart is the freedom to wander off and explore nooks and crannies. When I just go somewhere and explore by myself... I get to see more of the less touristy stuff and I really do enjoy that.

prettyandwitty -- I am not surprised that I got that backwards... I am surprised I didn't mess a bit more up. I don't recall consider I went to France either, but I did land in Calais... I just don't believe we explored anything there. Oddly enough though, my foster parents were over in London at the same time as me and we could have caught up, had I known they were there.
Serenity4two -- You do live in a lovely country, Serenity. I rather liked Wales too... I had dinner in a castle there, but I didn't really stay long enough to explore and see marked differences. Dartmoor appealed to me in England too... it was so beautiful, although I am told... whilst the weather was perfect the day I was there, usually it is forlorn. Still... it's so appealing.

And when I was staying in Sheffield, England one night... I had no idea how close I was to my Great Grandmothers birthplace until the next morning when we drove past the signage.

As for visiting you... My Grandfather was born in Northern Ireland, it's the one place I feel I should have visited and did not.

GoDaniel -- Thank you, Daniel... you are most welcome. smile
@ Aba, Girl - Great to hear that you enjoyed most of your trip and managed to return home safely.... yay

Lovely pics too Girl, maybe you could post more when you have a chance.... hug wine
Hello Hans,

Thank you. It really was a most enjoyable experience. But catching up now I am home... well that's got my head spinning. I was invited to four parties within days of arriving home. 'Tis the time of year I guess.

So, how have you been? I thought you would be at work at this time of day?
