The rain to the wind said...

To quote Robert Frost...

“The rain to the wind said,
You push and I'll pelt.'
They so smote the garden bed
That the flowers actually knelt,
And lay lodged--though not dead.
I know how the flowers felt.”

Just this morning, I wandered out to my garden ... it was 6am... and quite peaceful. You could hear the birds twittering and the rain softly fell.... It was quite beautiful.

...so I felt it my duty to share a little of my garden with you.

Hallo Abawave
Beautiful flowers,thanx for sharin hunhug
I'm quite envious of your roses, I did have some her but I'm not dedicated enough to water them twice a day & eventually they gave up moping wave
Hello Ninnoe. You are quite welcome. Thank you for viewing. It seems a waste that I am the only one who sees them at times. laugh
Psssst Z... I am going to tell you a secret.

I never water my roses. In fact, mostly I neglect them. I cut them back a few times a year.
Roses petals fell to the ground
and a puddle gathered round
slowly a stream did appear
and the leaves did flow from there

where they went into a pile
and rotted in a short while
fertilising the ground once again
so roses grow and are enjoyed by men
sad flower
I stand by the fact Mike...that you are a romantic.
Abagail Who me naw shucks , i just love poetry that one you wrote made me think of that poem ,lovely photos of your garden wave
When I first started gardening back in the UK I bought loads of books & one of the subjects covered was pruning roses, it was as I recall something alone the lines, count so many buds down from the head, cut at a 45 degree angle just above an outward facing bud etc etc, all seemed very complex, then I read an article written by the horticultural society where they did an experiment, 2 identical rose beds, one pruned by the head gardener & the other by an electric hedge trimmer, you know where I'm going with this laugh yes the trimmer produced the most & better flowers laugh rolling on the floor laughing
Mike, I quoted. I do not write poetry. It's not a skill of mine.

I do think you have a romantic side though.
Z, early this year when I was qualifying as a trainer... One of the talks I did was on the care of roses. I am not a professional, but ... I am fortunate enough to constantly have blooms. In fact, almost year round... spare a couple of weeks during the year.

There is no real way of killing a rose, so if you did... you have a skill that most do not possess. laugh
Sounds about right but in my defence most here agree it's madness to plant them as the atmosphere is way too dry most of the time, it's more suited to tanning holiday makers laugh
Hi Abagail,

The poem and garden is absolutely beautiful. Those colours...

So you wake up every day and smell the roses laugh
Quite literally Chocheta, those roses are outside of my bedroom window. However, I have garden outside of almost every window on my house. IF I open my kitchen at the moment, there is a lilac tree directly outside of it that is beautiful too.

Thank you for your kind comment.
This is going to sound repetitive now but I managed to kill them off as well doh laugh rolling on the floor laughing I'm good with cactus though thumbs up
ABAGAIL that was a nice poem mine was by a not so well known poet wave
And I have Pelargoniums 10 feet tall wow
I always call them geraniums, but I have been told there is a difference. I have them outside of my front door. They are so easy to grow...Pelargoniums , I mean.

Z... have you considered being a hitman?
Mike, I think I know that poet rather well. teddybear
Sounds like a movie ZMAN THE HITMAN (killing a rose near you)
Abagail A rose by any other name would smell as sweet
Z man is probably excited by his new career opportunity ... he will rush out and buy a new sports car and a dinner jacket.
No not more cars doh I still have the two sports cars but now two 4x4's as well help they're about the only things that do grow well in my garden laugh
Pelargoniums are a type of Geranium, I have normal Geraniums as well, some rather nice purple & white amongst others.
So, Z... you do have the heart of a gardener... you do grow things. Like cars and geraniums. (The subtle differences with pelargoniums escapes me... I have a male friend who comes around and tells me... and I nod my head and pretend I am listening to him. grin )
ZMAN is this one of them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWHniL8MyMM/youtube]rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
Abagail, sounds like when gardeners start taking latin names for plants I have a switch in my head that automatically goes to off laugh
Mike, at least mine came out of the factory all at the same time in one piece laugh rolling on the floor laughing
My ex sister in law used to be able name all of her roses... and I often wondered how she recalled every name. She is passionate about gardening. Actually they are visiting me next month, so it should be nice to catch up.

I love learning... but men and sport leaves me the same way. I tend to switch off.

Great photos!!
wink wink
Thank you, Daniel. I thought I should show a wet day as well.... there is a certain appeal in the water drops I think.
I love this blog!!!
Me too, Calli!

Great flowers, Abagail, I like cactus and I grow a huge array of them! They really bloom with some beautiful flowers on them and the "Hummy" birds come and kiss them. It's just beautiful!
Thank you Abagail, how wonderful to wake up in a early fall morning here in Norway and find you beautiful pictures of beautiful flowers. Thank you, this remind me it will soon be a new summer and that it is less then 2 months until the sun turns and starts it way back up in the sky. Your flowers are beautiful, thank you for sharing. hug teddybear hug
Thank you Calli and Ed... I was trying to show that even on days that were less than perfect (or less than ideal)the garden still holds a lot of delight.

Ed, the first time I went to the US... I went to Arizona in Spring. It's enchanting to see the cactus. I would be mesmerised watching the birds kissing them too.
Hello Welela ,

I have seen your photos of your home and they are spectacular. I believe there is beauty to be found everywhere... but often , we overlook it.
Thank you Abagail, yes the nature around me is beautiful and I am so luck that I can go into nature and use it. Yes, you are right, we should take more pictures to share, there is a lot of beauty on Mother Earth to share.
