Biff. Modern "edumacators", advising parents against the old standbyes, in favor of what really may be pulpy post modern age inappropriate trash. What could possibly be wrong with this picture? Visit your local public library, and consult with a kindly elderly librarian, and in a minute he (she) will have dozens of great kids books for you to thumb through, and then be able to recommend. But aren't you a writer---any of your stuff for kiddies? Aa.
MM, again, wise words. Canadian girl, with Minnesooooooooota roots. What could possibly go wrong? I lived in Green Bay and know a little about all those lovely Nordic/Polish blondies thereabouts, you bet ya. Especially about the hair on the top, and about the hair down, oops, .....better not go there. Could wind up in jail with the likes of IW. Which actually might not be so bad. Aa.
Really makes me rethink all my whining about all my many imagined woes, GG. You probably know the American (possibly Canadian) native peoples saying concerning walking a bit in another's moccasins, no? Aa.
Biff, a little dab of the good stuff, apparently lots of choices exist, before a week of alpine or desert off trail backpacking, has usually done it for me. If a stream or pool are encountered, OK to jump in to wash off the sweat. Just hold the soap. Not only for environmental reasons. Aa.
You are forgiven, Mimi. You don't hold TWO (count them) affirmtive action Ivy League university degrees, I would guess. Columbia and Harvard. What a joke. Aa.
Yes, 1. Well, my experience with Canada is that you are more socially oriented than most places. It's a good thing. Wonder if it varies much by provence, as things here sometimes do so by state. Aa.
Yes, N. It is lovely, as many such festive religious dates can be. But there is bad in many religions as well. Recall, we in the West had the 30 years war, the crusades, etc. Aa.
As a tree top catch here and elsewhere, along with being an absolute paragon of modesty, it's hard to argue with the logic here on these posts concerning top catches, good and bad. Aa.
Thanks Mic and Biff. And GG has it all down. But does the "O" word refer to singles or multiples? Of course, like fake news, they may be so as well. Aa.
It takes a real jaded man to know just when he's been placed appropriately back into his little box. But as to books, the first installment of the memoir and dissertation are both of great usefulness. For those with even severe insomnia, reading a few pages of either and it's soon sweet dreams away. Aa.
Hey Biff. Have friends who bought apartments and homes overseas. Paris, Costa Rica, etc. Was plannng on doing so myself, to enjoy alternate linguistic cultures, and escape the (evolving) near Canadian border winter climate for 2-4 months each year. But after considering all the plusses and minuses, have decided to rent places to do so. Sure, buyers markets in some places beckon, and I'm always one for a deal. But I no longer have the need to make money in real estate. Part of having enough, living within means, and being grateful. Your thoughts? BTW, Spain and Portugal are at the top of any list. Aa.
Hey. Sociopathy sometimes presents via refined writing/speech. And banter, which for some may be a foundation for grounded committment, falls under the rubric of drama, ...of a different sort. Can't BS the BS-er. Aa.
Not Mic man, Biffer woman. But my two cents would advise visiting any seedy Edinburgh Pub, with at least 50% of the clients dressed in leather patched elbow tweed, and to ask around about such Gates from a balding physicist type. Easy to find, just look for a half dozen empty pint glasses in fromt of her. Aa.
Right you are again, M. In fact, sometimes I wonder if the meta---sorts have more hold on real "truth" than a gaggle of card carrying scientists, with their "measurements" of things they'll never really see, let alone touch, taste and smell. Aa..
Thanks, Ash. Profound and prolific. As the lower forms of humanity characteristically circle wagons, pathetically trying to recruit "friends"---who likely barely tolerate them, in futile attempts at self defense. Real self defense might involve an anger management course or two, recorking bottles, and reading more than writing. A lot to ask for from some. Off to the French group. Later all. Aa
RE: Books for 8 to 10 year olds?
