RE: What would you do????

L., good blog topic. Not so long ago, a decade or two younger than me would have been cause to kneel and thank the Goddess. But it's become a tedious chore to separate the wheat (class act ladies) from the chaff (gold-diggers, wannabee talentless "artistes", and so on). But with so many possibilities here on CS, vetting can be fun and educational. BTW, first prize---one week in Milwaukee. Second prize, two weeks..... I recall , however, with some delight, my working years in Green Bay---neither green, nor much of a bay, as I recall. But Door County rocks. Aa.

RE: To all CS members who are still single like me

Oriatoh, Tatami. Aa.

As the human body ages.....

Well, E., of course you are correct. But recent generations perhaps are a bit more lucky with regard to aging better. We now know what will help keep us from being so ghastly in physical constitution, even as we approach 100 years. Active good living, with moderate diet/drink, mostly veggie, plenty of good water, purposeful work and loving social contacts---all lead the list. Hope you and all the CS blogger group are hip. Aa.

As the human body ages.....

Thanks all for the kind words. Aa.

As the human body ages.....

Thanks, all. Recall Shakespeare's take on this sort of thing. Comparing the aged with the newly born. Sans teeth, sans hair, etc. Time to be strong and to focus on all the good. And to be grateful for whatever amends were possible while folks were still with us. Aa.

RE: Canadian Toilet Paper

Hey, which one of you Canadian yokels left all this useless soft paper around the corn cobs in the outhouse here? Aa.

RE: Don't Say They Are Bad.

All, we used to joke that the most effective birth control was in pill form, readily available, and dirt cheap. Aspirin tablets. Rx---keep one tightly between the knees at all times. Aa.

The rental unit......

Nice menagerie, F. And I bet, as Joni Mitchell sang, "none are thin, and all are fat" Aa.

The rental unit......

Could B, F.. But I sort of got a bad feeling on this one, either way. Then there's the lady from Puerto Rico, who wisely is abandoniing THAT ship, and coming here to Sparkle City to work for the feds, of all things.Tried to email back to her on the advert site, but transmission failed. Too many pics. Tried to call, but no answer. May try once more. Must say, she (her current residence, actually) got the cooty fear hairs on my neck up. How unfair is that? Aa.

The rental unit......

That too, no doubt, F. She went on and on about keeping them in the crate while away, even engaging the services of the many dog walkers here abouts. Even offering a huge pet deposit. Do I sound like someone who should know better, but is working hard trying to convince himself? And lots of landlords think medical folks make the best tenants. I should know othrwise. Aa.

The rental unit......

Well, F., Even if she's hot, no, ESPECIALLY if she's hot, business only for this fella. I know which side of the frying pan to try to stay on. Hard lessons, all. Aa.

Women, through the ages....

Past, you say, F. ? I just rode past McD's....always a struggle. Aa.

RE: Flirting and the single man

Why? Indeed. Some of us call them angels, but....some of us know better. Aa.

Big trees. Pretty girls.

With you P., 99%, ...and how about purchasing parts for the car, boat, MC or home electrical/plumbing? I've tried time and again to be PC, and to go to the girl behind the counter when she was the next one free to"assist". Rather than slyly pretending to look through bubble packs down some isle, really waiting for the next available man. But I have run into a few ladies who really knew their stuff. And quite useless males. But the numbers speak for themselves. Affirmative action hurts everyone. Mine was a rhetorical question, to get the thoughts and juices flowing. Aa.

Tall tales.....

Yes, P. Hahaha---cops probably tell stories with each other of excuses they hear for speeding, etc. Of course, some of the best such stories happen in the medical field, In particular, when two sweeties roll into in the ED, one with some object somehow mysteriously shoved up tightly into the absolute worst place in God's creation. Just how did that old radio tube (literally dozens of different items) get up there, boys? ( these show up clearly on Xray---I have one such film framed for laughs). Imagine the great tales on such a surprisingly not uncommon event. Humans. And F., yes, as the Germans say, "truthfullness seems to last the longest". Aa.

RE: how america became the apotheosis of antintellectualism

Most of us find it a challenge to argue with such erudite and well writen commentary. Aa.

RE: My first time

I used to visit such parks and beaches, I, two of my favorites being in Vermont State near Burlington, and across the country at Wreck Beach, near the university on Vancouver Island, BC. But I had to stop, because it rarely took long for the women folk to get worked up into a wanton frenzy on seeing my equipment shaking about. Biology is destiny. Aa..

RE: Settling for less than perfect

BTW, setttling down rocks. Settling, merely, not so good.

RE: Settling for less than perfect

Yes, E., as I've already ranted here, it's healthful to look deeply at our role in arriving into any circumstance. The more honestly and deely we look, the less important we'll see the roles of others. But blaming is lots of fun, and is sometines soothing. Ever onward, through the fog. Aa.

Projection, blame and the Nile. Our MOTIVES.

Yes, F., Parental punishmment and accompanying shaming....deadly combo. Aa.

RE: International Kissing Day

E. Nice blog. Well, since after years of too picky searching, there's still no tomato in Aa.'s life, I am restricting my kisses to Bravo and his big nose. Aa.

Karma.....and a litttle snapping turtle.

Thanks, N and F. Millions of years of evolution. Ice ages and a few mass extinctions thrown in for good measure, And we get to watch these beautiful creatures. How can you not be grateful? Aa.

Karma.....and a litttle snapping turtle.

Yep. Thanks. The song says it all. Man those snappers grow mighty big. Sure was hard swimming across that thing, with both hands holding my dingalinga ling. Aa.

RE: Happy fourth of July fellow Americans

Thanks, LJ. Leave it to a fellow patriot to be the first to blog on this topic. Well, some might be concerned about how free here we still are. But any of us who have lived elsewhere can see the real differences. Even in supposed developed countries. The EU, of course, has let itself go with uncontrolled immigration. Too late to fix things there, even though they seem finally to have smelled the coffee. But well before this disaster, the losses in freedom there were easy to see. Compare building a home in most (not all) US places, with say Germany, or Scandinavia, and you'll seee how the unelected Brussels bureaucrats have made Nanny state control an unneeded hassle for all. Or register a vehicle. Or try to hang a toilet paper dispenser in your own bathroom. After all, it's what underlies most of Brexit think and action. Same with many aspects of our everyday lives. Amazing how so many liberals are cluelesss to this being a major factor in getting President Trump elected. Happy Fourth to you and your as well. Aa.

RE: trashing the Republican Party

S. Der Fuehrer selber hat gesagt, wenn wir diesen Krieg verlieren, ist es fuer Deutschland das Ende. Wir befinden uns zur Zeit in einem anderen politischen Kriege. Brown shirts, indeed. Aa.

RE: Australian Cardinal and Aide to Pope

Thanks. A story right up my alley. I know a little about clerics and their things right up my alley. Aa.

RE: Hey Y'all Canucks...HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Yes, Micman. To all our Canadian friends, happy 150th (in Quebec-400th!). And may they have many more ouuuuts and EH's. Aa.

RE: "The Collapse Of Swedish...

Micman----Had been considering going to Sweden to volunteer with traumatised refugee kids and their families. Thanks. Reports, such as yours, have me reconsidering. Aa.

RE: Pretentious people

LJ. One strategy for dealing with so called pretentious people is to indulge the style. If you find them intolerable, be assured others do as well. So they are used to various strategies on the part of people they are around that are as you describe, or at least hint at. As the Bard wisely said, we are all actors. Trick is to find out what's behind the pretension, and accept it for what it usually is. Generally, it's defensive in nature. Often the driving motivations are based on fear---sometimes even involving great shame---of family circumstance, life mistakes, losses, envy, etc. So you listen, show no derision, keep your own cards close to the vest, and over time, the facts will often emerge. You then may be in a more powerful position, as you will better understand them and their airs. Not the same as liking them, although in the best of circumstancs, this can occur. But you then will be the driver's seat. It ain't brain surgery. Many folks see me as humble and likeable, but I can have a pretentious side the size of Montana. It fits in well with the regrettable dynamics as mentioned above. I struggle to keep it in check. Aa.

Quebec, Canada.

On visiting Canada, all the talk and print about needing a passport may be overblown. We adults had ours, of course, along with Mr. Bravo's vaccination documents. But two hours into our 5 hour road trip, the head full of mush youngins shouted out that they had forgotten theirs at home, promptly blaming the adults for not checking ! So we called our US border officials, and they said given that adults had theirs, using the kids' drivers' licenses or other official picture ID's, we could enter. But just to be sure, they kindly fowarded the call to their Canadian counterparts, who agreed. But here's the kicker. On returning, we got the usual interrogation as to contraband. Years ago (Free will wag her finger) when I used to enjoy a Cuban cigar now and again, had to sneak a box in, for meself and friends. Now the Nicaraguans, Jamaicans, Dominicans, and even the Mexicans are just about as good. But I had a big bag of travel cherries on the rolls console, that, for some obscure agrarian reasson, was confiscated. Bet those guards were in some back room laughing and enjoying them. Now that's cynical. Aa.
