Also agree with Hans as see no other way to stop or at least make it too risky to do it. African government is known for its corruption so you can get anything here if you just pay off the right people. Most people are poor so they are easy to recruit and don't really care about nature. The sad thing is that they get next to nothing for their help but it is still worth it for them.
We also use to pitch up at anyone's house any time of day and if it is meal time there will be enough for everyone. Now you must make an appointment else you are not welcome in most houses. We use to make heaps of delicious food on Sundays and there was always a baked pudding. Still do it to some extend as that means I need not worry about food on Monday....enough left overs from Sunday. The kitchen was the gathering place so still prefer houses with a separate and fairly large kitchen to open plan houses. You have to adapt to accommodate others but it does not mean you don't miss all the traditional things you grew up with.
that is true. Realized something while reading this...I never used the word porch even when speaking English. Another thing that I love is the word sommer...tend to use it as well when I speak English.
The Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy explains the problems with traveling that way very well... The fiction of today is the reality of tomorrow...or so it seems.
I think all people who had to grow up without one of their parents or an abusive parent have that envy when they see that lovely bond that should be between children and parents. At least we know very few had that privilege. Most of us have an empty space somewhere inside that can never be filled, as the one who should have filled that, was not available.
Only a small hidden part within us want to reach that state of mind, where we can be completely at rest, and even if we reach that we don't stay there long. We love the turmoil in and around us as it makes us feel alive...for some reason. It is what motivates us to explore and create....or so we believe. We don't want the moon to reflect perfectly....we rather want to see in how many different ways we can distort it. Is it wrong or is it maybe how humans are suppose to be?
Personally think the death penalty is a bit harsh but if it is how it is in that country you are beyond stupid to carry drugs around. They knew the consequences and yet they did it. Should they not pay the price?
Thanks now I also know what St Patric's day is all about. As it seems like a lot of beer is involved in the celebrations I though he had something to do with beer brewing.
lets face the facts...Noah was a drunkard. People like that always tell ridiculous and over exaggerated stories. That stories can evolve over time into even more ridiculous and over the top stories. Maybe there was only a small flood and Noah, his wife and family and maybe their pet lamb and some chicken floated around on their front door.
As a non believer I won't even consider having a serious relationship with a religious person. People tend to think it does not really matter but it can become a major issue if you don't share the same spiritual path. It is already hard for me to have my super religious mother in my house. I dare not say anything that will upset her or even disagree with her, in my eyes, ridiculous ideas. So don't want a God fearing or God loving man around.
I always loved reading and still do. Sometimes don't get much sleep when I start reading an interesting book at night. Keep on thinking...just one more chapter.
You will struggle to find anything but supermarkets in South Africa. It kind of disappeared long ago but is slowly coming back over the last couple of years.
I like reading the blogs and forums when my real life is not too busy. It is a good filler activity when you are waiting for the washing machine to finish or biscuits to get done in the oven...much better than washing the floor or dusting. Also good on my lazy days when I don't have a book to read...so think I am going to hang around here for a long time.
It is because we all missing the point. We gather things rather than experiences. The things you are going to loose some or other time but the experiences in the form of memories will comfort us when our world shrinks to a little room in a nursing home.
That is true Lindsy...it looks so delicious and you can have it without much effort. Still prefer home cooked meals so they are not making money out of me.
I love all people as long as I don't watch the news and don't leave my house much. It is the hardest to love people as they never fail to frustrate you in some or other way.
Have to agree with Twazzle as here it is mostly the poorer people who are the biggest and widest. The more filling high carb foods are cheaper than healthy food. Fruit and most vegetables are way too expensive for a person with a low income. For instance 2 rather small sweet potatoes or 4 tomatoes cost more than a bread so they rather take the bread.
We have a TV program where people can complain but it is mostly not funny....more unbelievable how this government and their cronies are taking simple people for a ride.
