johnn You don't have to be sorry for your comments...it came from the heart...a good upbringing will always have nostalgia...trouble is what is one's persons eden isn't our own...we have different experiences...and protection is key...for survival...it is a fact of life...no disrespect to people who value old traditions...reality of others' situations get in the way...
john Good save...lol... I understand your comments...a blog by lind long ago about feminism covered this issue...we all have our talents...but at some point women regarding the traditional structure, were cast aside...meaning if we we are not self sufficient anything could happen...poverty for one...an idyllic lifestyle beckoned us us in the fifties and sixties...but no one could keep up that lifestyle...people have their faults...no one is perfect and this structure may not be the be all and end all...people want different things and needs...selling that lifeslyle was the problem...not everyone wants this...
lind Many women are not being promoted at work or rewarded with bonuses/raises because they are mainly responsible for their children...work does not come first...but I see this trend dying down...men are assuming a role in parenting as a care giver...the shift is happening...as for wage inequity...jobs held down traditionally for women are seeing improvements but I still believe that when it comes to money...that will likely be the last thing to change...who evaluates the worth of these jobs and why is women's work most often always worth less?...
lind It takes all of us to change the inequities that still exist...I guess we as westerners take much for granted...considering other parts of the world where women are less thought of...
virgo Those tents that those women wear is not a bad thing...the Taliban were the ones that made women wear garments that made it impossible to carry on daily life...used the Koran for its own purposes...women do not object to the head scarfs or covering their bodies...
aj Canada is not doing badly in the job department...better than the US...the US banks/institutions allowed their citizens to have mortgages with no money down...the housing market crashed and those people who had no down payment were forced to walk away...their economy is recovering...lessons were learned...Canadians faired well due to stringent laws in place that don't allow lenders to be so careless...
lind There has been much progress in regards to equality of women...looking back in history, women were regarded as sub-human...chattle...we are people now...we can vote...have credit for purchasing power and for the most part we earn a wage that allows us to be self sufficient...the wage earned or the jobs that are traditionally held by women may lag behind men but it is getting better out here... I think the idea of women not needing men scared the pants off some men...perhaps that is why there is so much resistance for equality in the past?...just a thought!!! Fortunately, there are enough liberal minded men who see value in women and their work...and who helped forge a better society...we all need eachother...
cmi Immigrants are needed...the population of the people in my country are getting older and we will need younger people to continue working...so immigration is one way of managing the retirement of people...to fill the void...not sure about USA and its need...
cat My intelligence is reduced everytime I work night shift... hahaha...my memory fades, my dexterity suffers...and my ability to problem solve declines...
lind Just wanted to say hello...how are things?...hope your well...as for your topic...I think most teens will put on the clothes that you(parents) deem acceptable...only to change outfits once in school out of parental sight...private schools have their dress code...a little harder to rebel...why do children rebel?...
cat It is always something...dishwasher...freezer...what's next?...then your neighbour...hide in the bed covers with your cheese and olives til it is safe to come out!!Hoping Monday is better!!
