Lind Sometimes people allow others brutality because the individuals or ethnics are not seen as such(people)...thinking the Holocaust...or the powers that be, too late or too strong to overthrow, what's left is our self preservation instincts which may deter some kind of justice... Sometimes a war that exists over hundreds of years prevents us as people to forgive(Serbia...Bosnia),the people cannot co-exist peacefully...allowing such crimes to fester... At times it may be the judicial system...for those with money and power...a good lawyer can mean a not guilty verdict...or those without means financially or lack the character needed to win a case are deemed unreliable...with that in mind, the system itself may be corrupt...I have yet to see some of the movies mentioned but it will leave a sadness that hopefully all that see these historic films may learn from...
virgo Funny you should mention this...Vancouver is supposed to be hit with a major earthquake in the next ten years...predicted but so far have been lucky...not to sure if we are prepared enough...but it is the sunshine coast of Vancouver that has to worry about a tsunami...
virgo Hawaii also has a tsunami alert...but it looks like people in the Chile do not have to worry...reports have been made that tsunami is no longer a threat...could be wrong but so far no new news regarding this...
thon Under the circumstances...you pretty much have to fake it until you secure your future...what a shame though that others are forcing you to take sides...
lind I am all for working hard...and that being said...I indulge myself with gifts and other pleasurable things...pedicure and manicure...clothing...it makes me feel good!...but in the end the mortgage has to be paid and other bills as well...I am not keeping up with the Joneses...do not care to!!...but sometimes I think we buy into this lifestyle out of common expectations of our society...the attitude comes with it... At work many do not get the recognition they deserve...only the negative is highlighted!!...perhaps if we don't parade our talents...no one will see how wonderful we are?...
lind I still think the root of the problem with people is their insecurity...perhaps that is where it starts then blooms to a new level of self absorbtion (vanity and conceit)...so buried this feeling by their quest for self gratification and need to be respected (loved)...it is hard to see their true self...like a hoarder...surrounding themselves with things...brings comfort and security...some say that their is a certain trait (personality disorder or mental illness)that explains some people's need to aquire more wealth at any cost...I believe that this may also be the case for those who are obsessed with themselves...self absorbed or who lack empathy for others...the behaviour is a by product of an illness...just a thought...
cat Thanks for the lesson in language...it is interesting how words develop meaning by the history of its people...like in the US to be a Benedict Arnold is a traitor...it stems from their history...I just may use the word gat!!
lind I think we all suffer from vanity to a certain extent...taking good care of yourself is one thing and having a healthy self esteem is important for self preservation but some take it to another level...but underneath it all...does insecurity lurk?...

cat Good blog...I have often wondered why we place more importance around some professions than others...in regards about a house wife...I would rather be a geisha...no cleaning, cooking or rearing children...just being responsible for entertainment...much easier life...Cheers!!
thon No one likes to be told what to think or be scolded for their differing beliefs...recognising we all have various opinions or values and respecting that fact goes a long way...
non At work...working hard...lol...on my break anyways...it's raining again so don't mind doing night shift... I hope your cough will disappear after the "treatment"...one gal I knew in NZ believed that mixing apple cider vinegar and honey for consumption increases energy and prevents colds/flu...hope it works!!
