lind I think I would try to solve the problem why so many are incarcerated in the first place...try to ammend the problem...if less people were in jail and more got the help needed in the first place...perhaps the monies involved at housing murderers wouldn't matter so much...my problem is that in Canada there are more native americans in jail than people of european descent...in US there are more african americans in jail...this is a sample of the injustice out there still...
lind I still believe that governments do not have the right to commit murder...they make it so clinical these days...like going to the dentist...some forget it is killing someone...jail for life...segregated...seems a better alternative...
zman Never believed in the death penalty...too many innocents in prison...on death row...when we are free of prejudice...and incarcerate people who are guilty and not given a sentence due to their colour/ethnicity...perhaps...but until society sees beyond colour...not a good idea...
kendall Along time ago my great aunt explained why people have various skin colours...the places of our ancestors' origins dealing with the climate...simple explaination for a seven year old who has never seen a "black" person before...she just wanted us not to be rude and stare...white (to me) is a simple identification but clearly people want others to know more about them...so instead I ask them what their heritage is...
soc Heart disease is on the rise for women...we might see a change in mortality rates...women are picking up smoking more than their male counterparts...women cannot process alcohol like men can...their limit recomendations are less for them than men...perhaps now that women have more work place exposure than their home workplace...stress or enviromental toxins...or maybe women process stress better...can handle it better...it is hard to say what lies in the future...
