RE: Things I like to know about in a potential partner...

I'm going to meet someone in about 2 weeks that I have been talking to for a couple of months now. In spite of hours spent on the phone...plentiful pages of emails... there is still so much about this man that I don't know. Last night I started thinking about some things I would like to know...

After reading all the wide range of questions with answers included, I'm wondering at just how many potential "someones" are you meeting.....are you, hopefully, preparing all these further questions to send off to this person or persons unknown...with the option of a multiple choice of prepared answers...? LOL...if you got all this to answer before a final face to face, how would you react? Laugh, cry or just remain stunned for a while. I've heard of men complaining that some women actually do have prepared lists of questions...one man came back to work really in a daze after being given a list somewhat similar during his lunch date to meet the woman. Her list also included his divulging all his financial information also, then left him with the total lunch bill...poor guy, everyone at work just burst out laughing...
We happen also to have three ladies who are lesbian, two of whom also laughed; the third said it seems to be spreading, as she was asked similarly by a woman she had just recently met and she was not amused.

RE: Interculturally .....in love !!

Yes if real love is allowed to develop between a couple given all the needed circumstances and support, but it must in the end, come from within both people. In many cases it does and they are are the most fortunate and happy. They have prevailed; it is their mind set and full acceptance of their reality around them, which here in Europe are only too prone to failure due to too many distractions and other outside influences that wear and tear on one if not both people...they begin to drift apart and as the full weight of the daily grind affects them...they also begin to grow apart in different directions until finally, one or both realize they have become strangers to each other. It is then, sadly finished for most. One can't live on nostalgia of "better times"...

RE: John Cleese’s “Letter to America”

Woody Allen could re make "Bananas" using this letter as the New America....lol! Love it!

RE: Interculturally .....in love !!

Granted I am a hopeless romantic (no s**t sherlock ) but I think the only reason to marry is for love.. cause if you love someone enough (i.e. unconditionally) you WILL be able to overcome these obstacles because you will have the will and the motivation to do so....

Ahhh, yes, the true, "old-fashioned" Romantic...I agree totally; never heard of any real love being conditional, as if it is, it is NOT real but artificially constructed,; fake. Reminds me of the horrible phrase "socially acceptable" in matches arranged for the purely selfish families involved disregarding the primary couple's feelings.
Life can be sour enough without this type of artificiality...probably one of the very reasons I simply gave up and basically live as a recluse away from all the artificial aspects of society in general. %(

RE: Thoughtful Question

Not to be flippant, but what good, what harmony, what peace of mind, body and soul is one without the other hand-in-hand; to give and to receive being the perfect balance...as either alone brings frustration, resentment, disharmony and a basket full of psychological problems to one party as for example to those that end up as "stalkers". Either alone does not bring us happiness nor balance.

RE: CANADA... Do YOU Know about this???

I love Quebec Province, especially Quebec city et Montreal; the two places that I felt at "home" in while living in Canada...shame I think, that France will not back an Independent Quebec....but with Kosovo...who knows, as France backed their Independence...which quite ironically was one of the items that brought me to Canada on a logistics appraisal...by the sort that helped the FLQ...long story of outrage by the English press when they found out...ahhh well....

RE: GUN CONTROL

What p's me off is hearing and reading so much about how fantastic it is to be able to have a gun. The theory of gun ownership is OK, and in a "normal" world this would not be a problem. Unfortunately, a lot of people who are clearly not fit to have a blunt pencil are able to obtain a gun, legally or not. And they're killing innocent people.

You've posted this before on an earlier gun control type topic and again will say that since the shootings at Virginia Tech, all states as far as I'm aware of has passed new laws pertaining to having mental health records checked from US wide data banks to prevent those with mental problems from ever legally purchasing any type of gun. But that will not prevent a lunatic of whatever degree, drooling or ranting, from buying an illegal firearm from someone else out of the back of a car boot as many deals are done like that in parking lots all over ...(I always used the Howard Johnson Restaurant lot on Wisconsin Ave. in Wash. DC, in broad daylight with lots of people around...) %)

RE: CANADA... Do YOU Know about this???

awwwe chucks, lady...twern't nuthin...(Gary Cooper in High Moon, er I meant Noon, not Moon, I think there has been enough mooning about things ....the ol'song "There's a Moon Out Tonight" takes on a whole new perspective....so does By The Light Of the Silvery Moon...%D

RE: DIRECTIONS FOR MAKING YOUR OWN NEW FOIL HAT!

AKA: Curses! Foiled Again! (Snidley Whiplash to Dudley D0-Right)
This is just hilarious! Well done! %D

RE: CANADA... Do YOU Know about this???

LOL! Actually, I did to the Canadian Offices; got a reply back thanking me for my ideas but that their Advertising dept. doesn't accept free-lance contributions, so another one was done for suppository bullets to be fired from a gun, even came with speed loads; while at the same time, some other cartoons hit the market again clearly bearing my old logo of from Preparation H Studios...a Napalm Production...I was asked to drop it. I refused... thanking them for their contribution %D

RE: GUN CONTROL

I always liked the magazine American Rifleman, I think was the title, published by the old NRA with whom I learned about guns, with their editorial motto at the end of each "crime column" listing the thwarted criminals with various weapons...something like "the mere presence of a firearm is enough of a deterrent in many cases..or something to that effect...anyone with old back issues of that magazine could easily find it...

RE: CANADA... Do YOU Know about this???

The essence of having a neighbor is precisely to have them as a neighbor, bot to obliterate their existence as something or someone separate and distinct simply to turn them into some twisted mirror image of one's own bizarre political agenda. Obviously this neighbor's opinions on merging with Uncle Sam and his discredited NWO doesn't seem to have made any impression whatsoever. Canadians have been polled several times with a resounding hell no! Obviously, the solution is to force an amalgamation...ahhh Freedom...so sweet. So sick.

RE: GUN CONTROL

BEAUTIFUL! HEAR! HEAR! Now there is the voice of the true Patriot , the type that stood up to a tyrannous colonial government and fought for their Freedom ....and WON! This is the very spirit the world lacks and needs desperately to be reminded of; to be ever vigilant and to always be ready just in case.
Well said!! This should be broadcast over all the airwaves and Internet...%)

RE: What do u find different ?

So true, but it was rather nice at first, without cliques forming as the membership grew. The level of arguments, disagreements were a lot lower, members were much more tolerant than now and no bizarre cults or sects trying to shove their versions of their God unto everyone or into everything;not discuss but proclaim; a huge difference. The foul language and expressions were at times totally missing and others did not feel deprived of them whatsoever nor did they need to use them to express themselves, which devolved as the levels also of education decreased among members and hence up went the fits, outbursts of tempers and the removal of many posts increased which in turn led to more "culling" of members...There are , in my opinion, still an element of individuals that post, I think deliberately, topics with wording to purposely incite tempers and cause trouble. It seems to be their "thing". Real life has enough tin-pot dictators and political fuehrers and commissars running around loose wrapped up in their country's flag exclaiming their blood lusts to destroy other peoples by various means....why encourage that sort by posting in those threads; it only encourages them . Do we really need such levels of hatreds on CS...what does it resolve...like I mentioned in another post, if everyone could have their own dream soul-mate, would we want to leave them in favour of acrimonious arguments that never end...perhaps it would be better what initially brought us all here as un-PC as it may be....

RE: GUN CONTROL

Only 56 million? I would have put the figure much higher.
No country that had established "gun control/ registration" has ever repealed it; just like any and all taxes one passed are never repealed.
While we have it in Germany, France, all through Europe on the books as laws, I would figure that about 90% or better is in our heads first. Europeans may have a bloody history as a whole but we also have developed no love affair with our guns, even when laws pertaining to soldiers or militia are required to keep their weapons at home "just in case" as especially with Switzerland. Europeans generally simply regard guns or other weapons as inanimate objects without a life of their own save the individual handling it. It could be a candlestick or an axe but in the hands guided by someone intending to harm someone else, then and only then does the object become potentially lethal. A gun, of any caliber does not and cannot decide on its own to start firing at anyone and neither does a knife nor axe suddenly decide to rise up and fly through the air looking for a certain individual nor anyone else...
The compositions of Americans are different and their experiences are vastly different from most Europeans so who is to say what your laws pertaining to the ownership or purchasing should or should not be...If criticism or calling into question of anything to do with guns comes up, it really is at most times over the seemingly senseless of innocent people; "the collateral damage" as the US military terms the excess loss of life in any shooting incident and the once uncontrolled access to purchases of guns by those with mental problems which are now virtually closed off due to swift action by various levels of govt. and private/ public law enforcement groups that have drafted and passed new laws. These matters are an internal matter for the jurisdiction of the peoples and authorities in the and of the US to deal with. While many Europeans may well be outraged and express their outrages at gun crimes in the US, population numbers should remind them that again, we are made up of much smaller countries with far less numbers as the US. The only area under no gun controls as of today are Serbia and Kosovo...and guess what; tons are flowing into both from the outside and the borders are totally free of any inspections, even by the idiots in their little blue helmets for fear of offending someone...as trucks loaded full drove into both...seems a big party is brewing...

RE: CANADA... Do YOU Know about this???

This , the plans for a Canadian Military draft and even the US federalization all started around the time of the initial time the Canadian parliament was debating sending troops into Afghanistan...this was according to contacts in Wash. DC some of whom were getting alarmed at how far and how much pressures the Bush admin. was applying on the Canadians via various common defence measures signed years ago; similar to the defense arrangements made with England that all their Nuclear tactical weapons would fall under US command as well as defense of certain bases there, basically nullifying British forces...starting before Thatcher left office...very slow and very quietly...
I'm only surprised that it has taken so long to finally surface...Basically it's good-by Sovereignty, hello another stooge or puppet regime in Ottawa...

RE: It's my D Day...

Sad because I couldn't hold true to my commitments
made before god. But in a whole I know our decision
is the best for myself and my son.

A long time ago a priest told me that one could look at the commitments we make in life before God that sometimes, some of those show, teach us how to grow. Failing in some may have served a higher purpose, as you grew and made the correct choice, not out of selfishness but for and in the best interests of you and your son in this case...perhaps that was the test of true commitment. Congratulations...%)

RE: South Africa to allow elephant culling

One of the old policies from the 50's to at least the late 70's was to move excess numbers around to those game parks/Preserves in other locales. Sadly most exchanges ended with the Rhodesian War . Afterwards it started up again but didn't last long. The alleged reason was economics ...aka, cheaper to just kill them, charging huge fees for alleged big shot hunters and their killing safari's ,all using "humanitarian aid" labels plastered on their ammo boxes...
I know the benefits of what I term restricted culling, not whole sale slaughter that takes place invariably with corrupt officials. culling on that sort of scale, really, should be limited to other humans and perhaps expand the National Parks afterwards...imo

RE: OMG, I have the gilly virus....

Because she was hired to go around in circles:
ant resulted from aunt from loss of accent; arc: circle/ circumference
tic(c)a a hired gharry: an Indian carriage. Put them in some orderly fashion and you have an aunt going in circles riding in a horse drawn gharry or an Indian carriage. Works for me...%D

RE: What's most important to you ?

Peace of mind
To be liked
Financial security
Other and do explain

No. 1 implies that one has a mind; I seem to have lost that a long time ago, if in fact, I ever had one at all...
#2 Been through too much, seen too much to ever give a damn what anyone thinks of me, let alone likes me; who cares, sounds too vain.
#3 That is a state of mind...if one has a mind...
#4 Other?? who knows it's an endless ordeal of suppositions and presumptions; the express lane into the Twilight Zone...so why not; exit: stage right into the Other Realms...damn, the lights went out , the steering wheel just came off and the brakes have failed...weee! %D

RE: There's someone For Everyone

I wish that there truly was that "Special someone" for everyone.
Trying to remember what all those wonderful feelings were like, I do really wish that for everyone; can you imagine what this world would be like if there truly were that and that every one met theirs in this Lifetime...who would want to cast it all aside to go around making this world hell for others; who would want to plan mass starvations, plan wars, go around polluting with toxic wastes our rivers and forests...commit all manner of crimes against Humanity and ruin our planet...None of those things are the product of Love nor of someone truly in love with someone let alone their Soulmate, so in that sense, "the Hippies" of the 60's were correct after all...all we do need is Love and if we have it, we return it; as people we are then happy..deliriously in love, too happy to go around promoting hatred and destruction...imho...for the best of all possible worlds we seek...
ahhhhhhhhh, I know, dream on........

RE: Just to show I have a sense of humor!!

Absolutely Brilliant! LOL!!!!

RE: What does a women want ?

Please read Flower's Love poems/ prayers of a Woman and a Man's ; The Prayers of both on another Thread! %D (now there IS a smart woman! %D !

RE: are foreign women better than amercan women?

LOL! ROFL! That is like the old Winston cigarette commercials wherein they said at the end "It's what up-front that counts." Kids and adults had another version: "It's what's in between that counts on a woman." Yes, anytime is a good time to "light one up!" %D

RE: The Beatles

What is the yardstick being used to measure "the greatest"? If it is the amount of money in ticket sales for the concerts, the numbers of works selling in stores and perhaps, just maybe, the ongoing still playing and producing concerts and the popularity, still adds up to only one: The Rolling Stones; now in arrangements for yet another tour de rock...%) Rock on!

RE: How does people in your region look at you...

You need a lot of time, patience and a lot of things to prove to these people in order for them to understand that you are not a “hunter” or the “lonely cowboy” looking for the big reward. You are on their territory and you have to learn their “language”. BUT I really think it’s not impossible, I am sure you can do it well :)

So right!
One good,(but somewhat expensive way) is when you stroll into any local pub/bar in whatever country you're in, is when you are at the bar, order a bottle or drink of Mead for everyone as in this case, "Scandinavia"! That, they all love; you'll make friends for the night! %D
Yes the weather is a huge factor there; always has been. Why do you think most of their ancestors sailed off in their Dragon ships to play around the rest of Europe, sacking and pillaging their way to Constantinople and all along the warm and sunny coasts of North Africa like the Germanic tribes did. Fun and sun brought out the camaraderie and playfulness in them. After , if they survived, in reaching an adequate age of retirement, they made their ways home back to those lands of mists, cold and drudgery...ahhh, but those memories they had within them. It is envy that lurks deep in the breasts of those sitting in a morose state in the corners of many a pub up there, me thinks.%D

RE: Was he giving me mixed signals?

LOL! Very good!
However it was said that he is 25 and the poster is 30...wow! Huge age difference there; he's young enough to be , what, her son? If he is "young" and she being 30, what is she; old, ancient...? %D
Sadly, I've heard of this kind of scenario before from a few women with whom I have lunch with, but the male in question made it clear, that it pertained to asking her advice, opinions and for hints as to how to make a "good approach" to the women that he was interested in. A case as above, did occur and the lady was not amused, at all. She berated the idiot in public for his uncouth and misleading approach. He quit that afternoon, much to the delight of several of the women whom he actually wanted to date as they perceived him as an arrogant person with the attitudes of a teen-ager. But, hey, I've also heard of the reverse ...several times. Lots of bi-polar idiots around who have lost their poles...%)

RE: The "Thread Polizei"

There seems to be several who are determined to break any and all threads on any and all topics from staying on the initial subject. It is as bad here as on the so called International forums. Here, however, it seems that a more determined effort is made to not restrain one's self but to alter, if not out-right kill the threads, especially when it is not some moronic, mundane collection of inane juvenile jokes. I'm guessing that they feel they should dictate and dominate and determine each threads viability; it's the old boring "Oh it's too serious"; "Lighten-up!", "have a laugh once in a while" type of self centered dictatorial and over inflated ego that drives them to determine for all others as to the content of "serious" threads. instead of doing the polite and civilized thing of not posting anything and staying out if they aren't interested; go to and into the types of threads that appeal to them and leave others alone. All this does is show everyone how much they lack in proper behavior and manners and from what I've heard from others, one of the main reasons they will not participate in these forums which is, basically now consisting of less than a dozen members. This makes a good prima facia case for cancelling the entire Forums option; why bother; basically it consists of one nationality and only jokes if some poor soul isn't being attacked, sneered at, insulted, demeaned in some fashion...The Forums are being used as a board for mainly a playground for mostly rather juvenile matters. It's original primary objective of encouraging others across all of Europe and elsewhere to communicate with each other, to exchange ideas, opinions, information; to develop closer ties within the human community on matters that are of importance has been totally subverted in favour of posting jokes and disrupting topics up for discussion and threads on meaningful exchanges on many issues that matter to them and their lives, not to the egos of those wishing to dominate the forums and prevent other members from participating. Cs Forums are an insult to many members because of these prevailing dictatorial types.
