RE: FOR PALESTINE

I will add this to my post above...We are rapidly losing the world ; we can no longer write 'normal' history, because we no longer have a 'normal' society. Whether there can be history under twenty-first century electronic conditions, remains to be seen, but the only safe assumption is that it will bear little resemblance to post-Renaissance historical study, above all where individual motive is concerned. A study based on the written word cannot survive the marginalization of paper. We may be on the verge of a new prehistory, with the era of serious, intricate, intimate knowledge of the past merely a fortunate interlude. Electronic communication means no history. The fashion for open access means no history. The mass production of 'evidence', and its mass destruction on an equally industrialized scale, means no history. Unrecorded history means no history, or at least, as in pre-history, a history of material matters at the expence of thought.
History is about primary sources. All secondary sources were primary sources once, even if the originals no longer survived. Indeed, a primary source is a secondary source which has yet to be interpreted and all primary sources are suspect; their destiny is to add to misunderstanding and lies, primarily by those with 'justifiable agendas' to be fulfilled...
The search for hidden truths has led to a bias against print and against books especially of those not adhearing to a preconceived agenda. Print, meaning records are becoming the Sumerian archives of tomorrow; "it just can't be true! It's all myths!"

RE: Please Explaine To ME ...???

As most who have ever posted/ contributed to forums that were later pulled without any warnings, without any expressed acrimony, without a single obscene word know, there are cliques here on CS that especially go after the religious and political threads as well as others. They complain and report in blocks and most members who have participated in many of these pulled threads know full well who most are. A small clique of nasty, vindictive lot who prefer to operate out of the darkness ...'the usual, vocal minority'. Trouble with some of them, is that they like leaving their faces behind before they start protecting our rights to 'free speech'.It's one of the perks of 'freedom'

RE: Christian Communism

You guys should study your Bible, for it it Biblical truth that you are laughing at.

If your so called 'Bible' and Jesus were so 'special' why was the thread discussing just how special He was been pulled off the forums...censored...strange that it was not filled with fights or obscenities....perhaps it is better, to some, to have truths hidden away...confused

RE: Christian Communism

As Buckley would have know only too well having been an active Israeli and Zionist agent for many years...ahhh, the Marie Antoinette of the American Right-wing as Gore Vidal referred to him...laugh

RE: If you are in a war, Whom do you want to protect you?

"the South American Army"?????? Has the world missed something...when did South America become a single monolithic political entity to have a single army for the entire continent??
Not a bad idea however if all countries there could concentrate on what they all have in common instead of what divides them, perhaps they could all contribute their special forces commandos into a single force and begin training the rest of each others territorial forces, as it now stands none have an army that could withstand a long protracted dedicated guerrilla force bent on taking / overthrowing any government there. Almost all the armed forces there are US trained and look to Samoza's armed forces for the example of 'staying power' or to Salvador Allendy's soldiers....even against several dozen mercs from Europe, they quit and ran and we took their presidential palaces with only several shots at the guards who were told to 'fight to the death'...what a laugh;the Tupemaros could have taken most countries there if they had really wanted to...laugh

RE: what women want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's stir it a bit more....they wish to be in a movie theater for the other three to take place, the money after the movie is over and you leave...laugh

RE: should it be closed

I like his resilience against the Yanks; one does have to admire that.
All the prisoners should be released and returned to their homes without any further 'trials' or delays. There were never any legal, let alone accepted moral grounds for having imprisoned any of them in the first place. "Enemy combatants" wtf, what in hell does that mean; duh....anyone on an opposing side in a war is an enemy combatant that resists an invader. Put this entire scenario back to the Vietnam War...the Viet Cong/ Viet Minh....were they rounded up, shipped off to a US prison and charged? Were they put in front of military judges and had legal representation that was later rescinded...they were not even allowed a normal POW camp. Whatever was done to any and all prisoners by the US govt. and its military has always been in contravention of the Geneva Protocols. This, ironically has rarely been acknowledged as the main reason for US objection to and refusal to sign any UN treaty in which US military personnel would have to be handed over for trial for any war crimes by other countries. They are afraid of payback time. The Geneva Protocols and Convention are Law in the eyes of the rest of the world. The US govt. maintains that they and they alone are above any and all laws at any time, any place for anything. Did the sovereign nation of South Vietnam ever charge, or try for war crimes Lt. Calley for the Mi Lai massacre??? Of course not, they weren't allowed to. As it now stands, no country on this planet has the freedom or right to charge or try a member of the US military. That really, should be against the law and fully enforced by the UN High Commissioner on War Crimes. The only 'crime' any of the 'enemy combatants' at Guantanamo was in resisting the US invasion of a sovereign country.

RE: should it be closed

Of course and I'll go one step further; I have thought for years that the entire Guantanamo Naval base should have closed down. That fool Castro missed his chance with the Soviets back in the 60's in forcing the gringos out of a sovereign country that did not want them there.

RE: War on Terrorism is an endless war. Is it so????

The war against terrorism has been at the forefront of U.S foreign policy. Many people believe the United States should be more aggressive in combating terror.
Others characterize the goal of eliminating terror as impossibility.[/quote

Isn't it an oxymoron that a terrorist government wage a war against 'terrorism' ? Seems that all it is doing is promoting more 'terrorism' against the terrorists if the terrorist government. If that government were to be more aggressive, they would have to eventually turn on their own peoples...will that eventuate? You bet.(and the world will sing Oh Happy days are here again....'laugh

RE: Ireland has just sold its independance to Europe.

Don't blame the politicians for your/ all the problems. They are but a reflection of yourselves.
The purpose of governments is to make your world safe for commerce, which often results in monopolies and greed for money then power but the lust for money is not the proverbial 'root of all evil', but money itself; try and think of a problem that doesn't involve money in some way. The antecedents for the Lisbon Treaty go back to the foundations of the original Common Market that would unite all European countries together as a block of world trade of goods and services, more or less on a system of a 'streamlined barter system' which was derailed then dropped...perhaps it really was a better idea...dunno

RE: Is Dylan the most influential singer songwriter of our times?

A must see for all the Dylan fans is Martin Scorsese's film No Direction Home; it is just as Rolling Stone Magazine says: The ultimate rock & Roll odyssey...this is an electrifying account of an unprecedented life."
The first time I saw/ heard him was in Greenwich Village in the mid 60's; he was great and I got used to his voice..The last concert I saw him in was in upstate New York back in the 80's.
He certainly got millions to actually think about our world and all for the good.applause

RE: Percentage of open minds..

Exactly; precisely, especially those professional skeptics that are employed by the media; not only are those types hired to misinform the general public, confuse both the public and the open and fair minded people but to also engage in character assassination of anyone not in agreement with their 'skepticism' agendas. Insistent 'skeptics' bore me as do those 'true believers' who strike me as wantonly inaccurate, just as lazy in their knowledge of whatever their cause is. Their only 'saving grace' is that they seem not as prone to creating massive and fraudulant information on topics that are routinely stigmatized, ridiculed or ignored by the mass popular media. "Informed opinion" is a very rare thing in this day and age. Most people can't see nor understand just how skillful 'skeptical' manipulators in the media control them Keeping people confused and uncertain is always to the advantage of the 'status quo'. Personally, I've never liked the idea of anything in a society labeled as 'status quo'; it eventually goes to rot like meat or vegetables, etc. If products, and govt. leaders have expiry dates, then perhaps so should these innocuous 'status quos' should also. Societies and a multitude of sciences could very well prosper and grow by expanding ...minds.

Just as a comic aside, I saw a new book with the tantalizing, imaginative and dangerous title of "Limitless You: The Infinite Possibilities Of A Balanced Brain" by Lee Gerdes, 2008...
oh, yes...the wondrous infinite possibilities!laugh

RE: Percentage of open minds..

Wonderful; finally a very rational, fair and , by Jove, an open minded response. Isn't it nice to have a mind, that actually works!laugh
There be but one point in the differences 'tween 'open minded' and 'fair minded' and that the point of differences between a skeptic and those who become or are 'professional skeptics' with their hidden agendas that seem nothing more than tactics designed to hinder an issue from any healthy debate or/ and progress to a conclusion, to further research; to an agreeable means to reach a concensus. Professional skeptics are a hindrance to those who would seek solutions that are fair and open. They serve only those who would benefit by maintaining a negative state of affairs and only deepen a state of basic chaos, be it in politics, technologies, scientific exploration or mere intellectual pursuits such as laws and their effects on any society and when do 'laws' become a hindrance to the maintaining and development of a society, for example...the meaning(if any) of a President's actions or in-actions on certain matters, for example...

"Laura25: Oh, that's simple:

They are open-minded persons if they agree with me

Ha! I like Laura's formula. Open and straightforward: I like you only IF you agree with me which therefore means you not only have a mind, but your mind is adapting to her mode of thought, opinion, etc. for what ever you think that you might like from her...reminds me of the intro to the old Outer Limits show

RE: Running into people that know you and you don't remember them

Until I finally moved here, it was constant. It was also exhausting as 99% of of the people , I really had no idea who they were that claimed to have either met me, recognized me or recalled some past event from newspapers or a particular show on the TV when they heard my name. Disconcerting, to say the least; even confrontational at times by some 'outraged' mental case. I much preferred the shadows. Much safer and peaceful that way. At least here, no one to worry about. No one in their right mind ever comes here.laugh

RE: Does someone in your life think that you are special?

Yes , lots do....but 'special' as in dire need of mental help like I care...rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Instinct's

There are all too many that receive 'messages', even orders from their 'God" already. They usually make the headlines when they slaughter people. Doesn't say much for their type of 'God', but then again the mental state of 'God' has been debated for thousands of years, with no end in sight...

RE: Thoughts For The Day!!!

Shrug it off, another one down, maybe a few hundred to go for. It happens to everyone at times, if not on a phone, then in RL.
What can you do, install a voice analyzer which may tell you they are lying or being deceptive. Don't bother, they are not all that accurate. At best you have saved air fare or gas money from a long drive for nothing. Every dark cloud does have a silver linning; just takes time to find it. Never give up, well, at least not entirely...

RE: Should killing another person be legal?

rolling on the floor laughing Take heart the both of you; I love words and I love playing with em and all their popular and cryptic meanings as well. I have always made it a point to never claim or say that I am balanced or intelligent, just that I am not 'normal' as all those are relative terms anywho. I recently came across a new book entitles 'Limitless You: The Possibilities of A Balanced Brain" by Lee Gerdes("08). Do you realize that the reverse is also true, that having an 'unbalanced' brain is full of possibilities!?
As Uncle Remus once said: 'We iz who we iz an' dat's dat''
Just play with images of 'an unbalanced brain' could mean, including weight and size...what if one side weighed more than the other...would you have your head tilted to one side as you walk down a street...laugh
Enjoy Life you two!

RE: Should killing another person be legal?

"Does that mean we should send Man. United packing, let teenagers act unruly and totally abolish employment to prevent this?"

I have no idea what this means
dunno

Nothing will ever prevent anyone from having suicidal thoughts or stopping anyone from committing suicide. That is a given; how would abolishing employment possibly restrain someone from suicide; if employment were abolished, that in fact, for many would only encourage suicide...aside from the total chaos that that it would initiate, it certainly would help deplete many overpopulated areas...like the govt. policy of encouraging popular suicide in the movie 'Soylent Green', turning themselves into crackers... Several films have posited a society wherein it was against the law NOT to commit suicide at some point...interesting.
Not sure what you were getting at...confused

RE: Should killing another person be legal?

As long as any government trains and uses assassins, condones, promotes, encourages termination of anyone with extreme prejudice, then the people should have the same right to terminate anyone and each other if they so wish. Equal opportunity in it's fullest sense. The term 'murder' should be stricken from the law and perhaps the term 'non murder' should replace it; better yet, govt. 'terminators' be they of the various intelligence branches and/ or military do not recognize the term 'murder' so why should anyone else. There is no prosecution of hired contract or govt. employed assassins; never have been by any govt. Not only are they required to kill; terminate etc. who they are told to terminate, but are granted extreme latitude to also terminate anyone we feel like taking out.
For years I've also advocated laws making it mandatory for each person, each family, each home to have guns. Guns of any type, any caliber. They can have rocket launchers and missiles for all I care. Let Freedom breath as many will finally breath their last to be sure. Make it against the law not to have guns. Cancel murder as a criminal offense or otherwise end all legalized murder by government employed assassins. Murder is such a rather vague term anyway. peace
