Just 'a bit' off topic'... It is hilariously amusing that whoever wrote the above has never been in any combat whatsoever, let alone experienced the 'joy of killing'. After years of service in different armies and various wars, I took a break and went back to doing art and one piece was a made up collage work showing mercenary soldiers fighting in various places throughout the world with a sign on a wall saying: 'Join the army! Travel to exotic, distant lands; meet exciting, unusual peoples and kill them!' I ended up making a poster with that caption and was sold to a 'soldier of fortune' type magazine who then made their own posters promoting mercenary recruitment as opposed to using 'regulars'. I fully agree with that idea. I lived it; I reveled in that world. It was my life.... Looking back one day, I found a problem with it: You are never so alive as when you are in combat killing others who are trying to kill you. You discover afterwards----there is no 'afterlife', not really, in a 9 to 5 existence; it is a living hell; that 'spark' is gone...One never forgets it...A lot of soldiers like combat because of the fringe benefits like killing but will not admit to it. Politicians love to kill from a long distance away, by just picking up a phone and ordering it done to entire countries, peoples...who is worse in the end... Bollywood...great post. Does anyone remember or even know the 3 Laws of Alien Behavior as formulated by the sci-fi writers Pellegrino, Powell and Asimov: Law #1 THEIR survival will be more important than OUR survival. If an alien species has to choose between themselves and us, they will not choose us. It is very difficult to imagine a contrary case; species do not survive by being self-sacrificing. Law#2 Wimps don't become top dogs. No species makes it to the top by being passive. Well, first off anything worth fighting for is worth fighting dirty for, but one must also remember that never pick a fight with an ugly person---they have nothing to lose. Most people ignore that and fight anyway...same for the only way to get the best of any argument is to avoid it and certainly nothing is as frustrating as arguing with someone who knows what they're talking about, but here, that is rare, hence if you can't answer a person's argument, all is not yet lost; people start to call each other vile names as it is impossible to defeat an ignorant person in any argument...ya just can't reason with someone out of something they weren't reasoned into! There have been several cases where the man and woman arranged to meet, as one in a park, early evening...her 'male companions came out of the bushes, beat and robbed the man. Other assault and robbery cases have taken place outside cafes, amusement parks in daytime and of course at motels...then all the cases of women being assaulted , beaten etc. in turning down 'requests' to go with the male to a motel or in bars, even over who pays the tab... rule one...do not go alone or if you do, go to a large public place in daylight...both parties then can 'relax'...

Besides carrying a gun or several located through out one's torso, wear some kevlar body armour...now that may come in 'gender specific' forms, before it is outlawed; British Columbia is/ will be the first place in North America to try and outlaw body armour on the supposition that ONLY criminals wear it...I would classify it as 'clothing'; what would come next...any clothing items that contain kevlar, including socks, underwear and blankets meant to protect kids , especially while sleeping in some inner city tenement where stray bullets enter doors and windows and kill (as have happened) kids at night from gun fights in the streets outside their homes...something to also think about...

Very good posts for her to seriously consider and lots of excellent advice to follow. My only womment will be that a lot of women that I have known and work with prefer Berretas especially for their size. Many carry 'dum-dum' shells. That should be one of your options no matter the caliber. While getting safety instructions and experience in using various types of hand guns, try a Mac 10 on for size, they are easily hidden and federal permits are obtainable but very expensive; no sawed off shotguns... I have for years believed that the only way to curb the abuses and the breaking of any and all laws by all politicians is to exact such horrendous penalties from them as to purge the entire political systems, all of them, around the world, would also include their families. Penalties for any abuses would be on a sliding scale, from being sent into exile outside their country, with their families, barred from any and all political activities, prison and death sentences as enemies of the people as it is the people...their people whom they are supposed to represent, that they violate and ultimately make suffer in their quests for power and riches and avoidance of prosecutions be it for themselves, their relatives or friends. If politicians can violate the trust and responsibilities they have sworn to their people, then their people should have the final right to violate them and their families....let that weigh upon anyone who elects to represent others as a politician. Such consequences just may help keep them honest.

"History and fair play..." Is such a tepid conviction in the world of wars, religions and politics; ohh so 'politically correct' that it makes me sick. The only 'fair play' that I find palatable is in a law court in which the criminal justice system must live up to its high ideals wherein no one is above the law and 'justice' must prevail with a slight tilt to the agreeved party. That said, in war there are no longer any rules whatsoever. That is for all to see. Wars involving religions be it a political application of 'religous' beliefs or not, and involves racial or ethnic survival it has become a matter of simple genocide. No quarter is asked let alone given. The more brutal it is conducted, the higher the TV ratings as well as the fanatics and 'bleeding heart's ignorance and/or frenzy in trying to justify and carry out the genocide. That is the way things are whether you like it or not. To over 90% of the people here it is simply a 'spectator sport' and will ever remain so. I've been involved heavily with the Palestinian groups like the PLO, the Popular Front For the Liberation of Palestine, Black September since the late 60's. Supported them financially, trained and fought with them as well as in other wars. It is all a matter of public record. It has cost me and my family a lot, but we have remained fully committed to help see to the total and complete annihilation of the Zionists and their State and their allies. I have not for a moment ever considered 'fair play' with such an enemy, a criminal state that emperils our entire planet as well as their main backer the US. They are a danger to the entire planet and should be wiped out, liquidated, annihilated, however one wishes to phrase it. There comes a time to dispense with history and 'fair play' and simply accept the fact that they are a threat to the survival of the human race and act accordingly. Talking and debating only go around and around like a carousal out of control and serves no purpose as they are fully committed to being a constant threat to Man's survival but would seek out planet's very destruction in order top fulfill their bizarre and psychopathic religious belief. Their entire political-religious beliefs are unfit to be practiced by any sane human being. They are beyond all hope and there is no cure for their crazed beliefs except total annihilation. I have come to believe that their salvation can only come through being atomized into oblivion before they send humanity there.
