RE: What is the right religion finally, so I can convert?

I have always had a problem with 'philosophy' as a subject to learn in schools in my view it came down to a belief in disbelieving in everything even for it's own sake...It certainly had a negative impact on everyone that I've know who majored in 'Philosophy' while in college. Their lives were all basically wrecked by the inability to believe in anything, including themselves, despite all their later accomplishments in life. These self doubts, self philosophizing' in many instances wrecked both their careers and private lives.
If I have learned anything, at least that works for myself, was that Life needs commitments to something positive that enhances a person and their lives, not something that diminishes it in any way; it is also rather ironic that this same point was made by some of the teachings by some of the ancient Gods of Sumer...whose origins in most cases are traced directly to from most of the ancient Greek Gods. God...or Gods knew no boundaries as to them, all humankind were one that they created...just as imperfect as they were...

RE: What is the right religion finally, so I can convert?

" Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions."

I've always wondered if it would have the same effect if it actually read" Religion is the right of the oppressed, in this heartless world, and the soul that fights to survive in this soulless world"...
Otherwise, being Roman Catholic or not, all of Marx's works should really be read; well, perhaps not so much Das Capital...tedious, exasperating and so dull...and no pictures!laugh

Now to ponder: which is better...organized religions or disorganized religions...?grin

I fully agree about the more than enough horror from 'military sciences'...enough has been created to destroy all life on our planet a few times over. Once the threshold of the Cobalt Bomb was crossed, none of it can ever be 'taken back'; same for all the biological germs. Those should be regarded as true crimes against all Humankind and against our planet. There is no longer any 'need' whatsoever to ever continue with any 'military sciences' by any country or group. Enough is enough.
We need science to enhance all Humankind and all life on our planet, not eradicate it and sterilize it.

RE: Hand guns, should you be alowed to have one?

They have breath mints if their breath if bad; the human brain is stimulated every waking second by our sensory inputs; do you really wish to put everyone in total isolated, soundproof dark because you thing that will discourage gun ownership??? Paying with a full deck are we?
If I had my way, everyone would be required by law to have guns of any and every type imaginable including RPG's, 50 calibers, even missiles if they so chose. No restrictions.. Everyone would be assigned a basic gun at birth and must have it in good working order all their lives. Mandatory weapons training and firing would also be absolutely required.World wide. Switzerland's policy is nearly that.yay

RE: Did God ever tell you to do something?

Perhaps it would be much easier to simply purchase one of the 'high-end' companion dolls for about 6 thousand US dollars. Their bodies are made from high quality semi rigid foam with shape memory as used in the orthopedic mattresses; real human (women's) hair and the skin if from the Japanese human DNA/ silicon mix, now being used on their 'humanibots' that fully resemble humans.
Just think what he could save money on; bars, restaurants, groceries; even dental bills as with a wife or girlfriend, he'd have to pay for...constantly! He'd have his 6 thousand back in no time! Ahhh, no strings, no hassles free fun! (When he does his laundry, he could just give her a quickie wash job....) There are a few firms in NYC via the net that deal in those dolls for the discerning but with rejectionable attributes male with woman-phobias or just short on entertainment funds for a real woman....laugh

RE: Mideast Peace What is fair?

When I lived and worked in Wash. DC, there were over 200 'Intelligence agencies' Some were simply conspiracy factories wherein they sat around all day making up conspiracies for /against both the right and left. It was a blast and by the time you got home, you were dead tired from laughing hard all day as the conspiracies got crazier and totally insane...Sometimes, ideas were actually taken from the real crazies in the street and simply broadcast on a larger network...but eventually, it wears on you and the turn-over rate was fairly high from those places; some even left feeling ashamed of what they had done because it was all so believable by so many desperate idiots wandering around Capital Hill...rolling on the floor laughing

RE: The truth about the truth, is that it hurts, so, we lie

I was taught as a boy: "The Truth shall set you free." So I ventured out to seek 'the truth'. And I found it. And did it make me free? Hell no! Did it make me frightened, defensive and somewhat insecure? You bet it did! So now I know the truth about 'the truth'. Avoid it at all costs. Make up your own truth and stick to it no matter how little sense it makes. And sooner or later, you'll have converts. Trust me.
PS. Everything is a lie, and that is really, is the truth, the only truth...professor

RE: Do These Words From Benjamin Franklin Still Apply?

I find this all rather amusing. It seems that in what many are calling a battle for constipational rights versus security of both the general public and their Federal government, some do not like either being exposed by x-ray scans or being patted down for armaments and explosives because it is unreasonable to search or expose them to either harmful x-rays or possible ridicule by those operating the scanners along with those who object to the 'touchie-feelie' pat-downs...seems that people will be 'groping' for a solution for some time to come...laugh

RE: tattoos

I totally agree with the above, especially once that I passed the so called stage in life where getting them is considered 'normal'.
Also, once I entered the military in covert warfare, all my officers and trainers ground it into us never have them as they will be able to possibly identify you and/ or 'mark you'. Many candidates were rejected simply because they had tattoos or got them as 'mementos'.
Though I find them in principle rather horrid, I have designed some for others including for my own son and daughter. Small and had personal meaning for them. Since then, they have added others...oh well, that is their business; their bodies...I do wish that they had not.mumbling

RE: Do you believe in an afterlife?

Having read one of your prior posts on your beliefs in reincarnation; there is a literal world of difference between what the 'Far East', ie. Hindus, believe in and interpret as reincarnation and what other parts of the world teach, believe in or have experience with. After having read over hundreds of cases that have taken place in Europe and North America as compared to the mass of documented cases in India, we of the West, if you will, can't seem to or have the ability to learn from whatever past lives we had...this is most frustrating; in many cases, in India, some children knew their former lives in detail and the details were all verified...we have yet to have a single documented case in 'our world' sphere, as it were. It seems that the propensity to repeat our mistakes, whatever they were, is stronger here than seems to be in the Indian versions of reincarnation...The old Christian beliefs in reincarnation, forbidden around the Fourth/ Fifth century, was that we did have the chance to rectify our past, therefore implying that one was able, somehow to access the memories of the prior life...One can't do that with inborn 'spiritual amnesia'.dunno confused

RE: Do you believe in an afterlife?

Afterlife, pre-life current life, the next life...gets monotonous doesn't it, so much to believe in; I'm here in this current one but I don't believe it or in it...not at all what I expected; what was I thinking when I decided to enter this one or was I even given a choice and simply kicked out of wherever...perhaps the next one will be a lot better...dunno

RE: Did You Learn Anything?

When I lived in Toronto, it was just one block from the lake shore and it was rather nice to walk along. But since those photo students exposed their films in the lake water and they developed due to all the chemicals in the water, I would guess that only those who wish to be 'developed' would put their toes in now...laugh (advice: know what you're stepping into...laugh )
