RE: When will Cuba stop punching the USA in the fist with its face?

That it does take 'LOTS' of money, money could be the very cause of the entire problem . Perhaps the elimination of money altogether from the entire system of government; from the electoral system could put 'the system', the "democratic system' back into the hands of the population at large. I can see no real reason why any candidate that is legally qualified needs money or needs to bribe other officials and powerful interests behind the scenes with more money to be put on a ballot. I can see no reason for money to pay for public communications by the media for any candidate to appeal to the voters in a country that supposedly has such sophisticated mass communication systems...I see no reason why any media should be allowed to privately hold any system that alledgedly serves 'the public'...
For whatever the reasons given for this pernicious need of money, I have always wondered why and how it was that the Colonies were able to choose, elect those who wrote up all the various declarations, and all the laws and amendments to the Constitution and the Bill Of Rights, let alone the initial Declaration of Independence...no one paid them for their services rendered; no one paid for political elections...no one needed to bribe or corrupt others in order to have a government...Salaries, only came after it was decided by those elected to actually pay those elected, not before. Money in any political process in there to primary bribe, corrupt the system that then only allows those to be elected or hold unelected positions by those who have lots of it or are put in as pawns by those who form 'interest groups'. The sooner those practices are outlawed, the sooner ordinary people, the vast majority' of voters will be allowed to fully take part in a real democracy, not an oligarchy of the rich and totally corrupted self serving common crooks.

RE: How far would u go to impress someone u like on CS???

Nothing better than the above could possibly say it better. Well said.
Honesty doesn't need an extreme of anything. It is what we all want or have wanted all our lives and remain who we are. Pretending or trying to be someone or something we are not still is a form of deception to both parties. It never works out and thus ruins what we have been seeking, someone that accepts us and that we accept wholeheartedly flaws and all. That is what makes life interesting. Perfection is always artificial.

RE: hey i didn't know

Rats are also used. Many 'leatherette' type coats for women have dyed/ colored 'fur' on them, which is many times made from rat coats... especially the long haired ones.

RE: Don't get me wrong, I really do love blondes...

Like, love them and joke about blondes while you can as they may not be with 'us' much longer...they are now approaching the status of "an endangered species":
According to the BBC, a 'study by experts in Germany suggests people with blond hair are an endangered species and will become extinct by 2202." Researchers predicted that the last truly natural blonde would be born in Finland, a country that boasts the highest proportion of blondes.
But, the scientists say too few people now carry the gene for blondes to last must longer. The researchers hinted that so-called bottle blondes "may be to blame for the demise of their natural rivals."
Not every scientist agrees with the prediction, of course, of impending extinction, but a study by the World Health Organization does indicate that natural blondes are likely to become extinct within the next two centuries...
More recently, the probability of extinction was reviewed by The Times of London, in light of new data about the evolution of the MC1R gene for blondness. The first mention of what has amounted to an 'extinction' of blondes was contained in a work entitled Catastrophe by a well know historian in his study of the pivotal 5th century which via cataclysmic environmental changes directly caused the mass migrations of eastern tribes to seek better living conditions in the West. This was done through annihilating most of the native populations of the lads they migrated through up til what are the 'classic' boundaries of Western Europe. In his study the blonde gene was basically wiped out from the original descendants of the ancient Greeks and thus explains why there are so few and very sporadic births in Greece of any blonds. The book was indeed a landmark study in many ways....

All that is needed to come full circle is for McCain to pick George Bush as his VP running mate. Wouldn't that be sweet for the Democrats?

LOL! Hey, as ludicrous as it may sound, there are no laws to prevent this scenario from unfolding. People are seriously betting money on this very scenario for about 2 month now....creepy, but it's what people realy seem to want; more war and economic ruin...

RE: My Space Case Leads to Tougher New Laws......

Massive damages to all Internet traffic and destruction of computer storage systems that affected all of Europe. Just to clarify why the EU has chosen Lithuania.

RE: My Space Case Leads to Tougher New Laws......

"There needs to be accountability for ones actions...." quoted from H&K

Last week the EU announced the formation of a 'super' HQ to fight Internet criminal activities of all sorts be it personal or corporate and covering all EU government departments and the military. The idea seems to be modeled somewhat on what reminds me of Tom Clancy's Net Force. The HQ will be in Lithuania and will monitor all of the Internet comms in the EU. The reasons for the location is because of the massive damages done by the irate Russians when a Soviet Statue was removed .
However the targets will be both on local levels as well as intra European for all people. Safeguards already exist to a great degree in the various treaties that define the EU, so very few are objecting.
Many types of psychological abuses are already defined as criminal, consequently very few new laws will actually be needed, as the net is already monitored by several agencies as in the US. Some States have laws to hold psychological abusers accountable for any crime fitting in that category. Some prosecute, some don't, just like everything else...upholding and enforcing the laws are just not 'economically viable' and people are being left with a growing lack of law and order...

Hope springs eternal....at this point anything, anyone that could inject some spark of life in the daily scripted see-saw tiffs between Clinton and Obama would be a welcome intermission in this ceremonial futility campaign and election.
And to think, I've just found the secret reasons for the Republicans promotion of moving US jobs, and corporations out of the US to other countries; its their secret plan to control the immigrants from taking the jobs of deserving Americans; controlling immigration by not having any jobs here for them and therefore they will stop trying to swim rivers, scale barbed wire fences or hide in trucks filled with other illegals and all their drugs. They will have no incentive to come to the US! My Gawd, dat Bush iz smarts! %D

You're joking right...where were you when Chavez ordered that the Venezuelan oil refineries donate a few million gallons of heating oil free to the the residents and had tons of food and clothing donated. That put so much pie on the face of Bush and his so called aid plans that he actually threatened to stop Venezuela from aiding the residents of New Orleans.

The media is censored and there's a lot that we don't get to know about because of it. " quoted from Serenity1971

Excellent point. Hope you saw the latest from the DOD that I posted Ma9th on the Forum Obama For Pres. Hexagon regarding these matters.
Last week I watched the latest training films of some of the elite US military units, ie, the Green Berets, Seals and other units etc. It reminded me of a question that I had asked a member of Congress back in "76 why didn't ...why wouldn't the military train their entire volunteer army as they trained their special forces...he said it would be too costly...an editor then asked him which is more important, the cost of training them in such a way as to maximize their chances of survival or was the costs of their deaths less...he got very red in the face and left...
Unfortunately, I think they still haven't changed their minds; it is far cheaper not to train all your soldiers as the elite units are...for shame. All soldiers, regardless of nationality deserves the best in all training there is possible that gives them much better chances of surviving combat

SIMMERING TENSION

Relations between Washington and Tehran are tense over Iran's nuclear program and who is to blame for ongoing violence in Iraq. Hostile rhetoric and close encounters in the Gulf have fueled speculation that the United States may be planning some sort of military action against Tehran.

U.S. charges of Iranian involvement in threats against its ships have also contributed to the tension.

RE: Hypothetically.....President Obama

"I don't believe we have a true understanding or full knowledge for the primaries without FL and MI being counted. It seems that in the last several elections that things keep getting worse as far as changing how they are run as well as who gets a say and who doesn't. I said it in the one thread and I'll say it again What we need is a complete and total revamp and that means cleaning out D.C. altogether and getting people with morals values and principles running this country again."

as quoted from Serenity 1971

Serenity, I would mention that you see the May 5 edition of Time Mag. the article "Tell Me How This Ends" in which the so far 3 possible scenarios are given to end the as usual Democratic Party's tearing itself apart routine. Those so called 'disqualified' delegates of Florida and Michigan are given in scenario 2 which may play into the worst scenario are also given , which until a few days ago had no scenario for a combined Obama/Clinton ticket at the convention which now is escalating as a real possibility.
That said, when once you think about it, is still not about to bring any changes whatsoever to Washington or the way 'business' is conducted there on the hill.
If money is the life-blood of politics, it really should be called the food of politics, as in, "if money be the food of politics, feed on!" The food thing works on all levels; the body politic can be said to be rather bulimic. Look at the way voters binge and purge over election cycles, trading 'Great Society' style liberal largess for conservatives' cutbacks and capitalism. The Ginrich and company always claimed that they wanted the govt. to go on a diet, but at the same time they were fattening their own party coffers. Binge on contributions; purge the regulations. In with the money, out with the governance. The (mostly Republican) efforts to present bills outlawing laws against laws that stop the spread of laws on all matters financial have kept up since that bonzo clown Reagan became President. Now it is almost impossible to know hoe many lobbies are active on Capital Hill, let alone across the entire country. In 2002 there were about 24 thousand registered lobbyists there, about 45 for every member of Congress, a ratio that fairly wallops Surf City's promise of 2 girls for every boy. Moreover, these estimates merely account for those involved in lobbying at the federal level. There also thousands of lobbyists pitching moneys at the state levels . Add up all the moneys that flow from both levels, and we are talking about over a billion dollars, maibe two. I leave it to your discretion, to judge whether or not the titans of industry would sink that kind of money into a process that has granted them few tangible gains. For example, the most lobby-mobbed issue of the last several years is tax policy. Is it mere happenstance that corporate tax revenues are at their historic lowest or is it some damn fine work on the part of influence peddling lobbyists?
There is , will be no clean-house carried out without bloodshed...It is simply impossible, morals or no morals. Money talks louder than ethics or morals.

RE: Hypothetically.....President Obama

EXATLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Hypothetically.....President Obama

typo....meant to say, squeaked by with only 51 percent of the vote, not 52%....

RE: Hypothetically.....President Obama

You may wish to revise the premise of this and include Obama AND Clinton as President and Vice-President as that is finally dawning on the Democratic leaders and those 'Super-delegates'.
The latest Time articles on the scenario forgot to mention this but has now suddenly appeared as a real, viable solution to putting a truly united front against the Republicans and their obsession with continuing the Bush policies.
As many have said after the Indiana vote in which Clinton is really, basically finished as she only squeaked by with just 52 percent of the vote, why vote for a candidate with only 51% when you can vote for 2 as 1 with 100 percent....if this does come about, the Republicans are , finally, at long last, finito. They are history.

RE: Hi all C.S people

We are all charmed for sure; Welcome to our asylum! %D

HAPPINESS IS A WARM GUN...

This is finally the response that should have been first; to question the writer, the editor and the Journal itself; to demand a public explanation of these stats and the purpose of publishing them. To publicly demand a public explanation of their motives to the scenarios being set-up and underlined in peoples minds, The entire paper should be held accountable by anyone who are advocates of the right of a free people to bear arms. As things stand now, the field belongs to those who would outlaw all private ownership under any circumstances and who would only give people the image of some crazed lunatic armed with a gun slaughtering innocent and unarmed people as the only image possible. It really is long overdue that these people be forced to acknowledge stark reality, especially the mass media who, by design speak for all; all meaning only those that agree with their agendas of outlawing all guns from all people...

HAPPINESS IS A WARM GUN...

On the heels of Obama's comment about bitter Americans clinging to their guns, the prestigious Wall Street Journal has dug up some stats from 2006 that show gun owners are actually happier and wealthier than people who do not own weapons.
According to the research 36 percent of gun owners claim to be 'very happy' compared with 30 percent of people without guns.
The study also revealed that gun owners have the same level of education as non-gun owners and earn an average of 32 percent more per year.
Last but certainly not least, in 1996 gun owners spent about 15 percent less of their time feeling 'outraged at something somebody had done'.
perhaps I should have put this under the category of Health , Wealth and Happiness..lol. Taken at face value, it implies a lot as it begs a lot of questions. The people that made the two 'Naked Gun' movies would certainly have ample material here for another one; any NRA members may expect to find the article prominently posted at all the various NRA indoor ranges and at Natl. HQ in Washington DC... What could the new movie be called aside from the obvious: 'Naked and Warm'...%D
