Is the Antichrist coming, or has already come?

It is not action-reaction, but rather form and distorted form. The distorted image opposes (hence the term "anti") the original because it pretends the false image was the real one.

Do you think everyone should become a priest who are "wrapped up" in anything religious?

Indeed, there are so many other subjects to discuss in the non-religious threads, but since this is is a religious thread it is appropriate to discuss religious issues here.

What I don't understand is why non-religious or agnostic people think that it is inappropriate to discuss religion in a religious thread, and why it is that one cannot be "relaxed" and have a "pleasant personality" if he discusses such issues.

Is the Antichrist coming, or has already come?

A belief like this cannot make sense as you cannot have an anti-christ without first having a christ, for the anti-christ is the one who opposes in teaching and deeds the real christ.

Since there are hundreds of millions, if not a few billion, in the world who are affected, it does really matter. Even those true blue Aussies that have pretty open minds often have relatives or friends who are "sucked in" by more than just chocolate. xmas story and alike. So if you know the correct answer, you have the chance to help them.

But most open minded Aussies don't care...

There were many messiahs, for the term simply means "anointed". All Jewish kings and high priests were anointed, therefore, were messiahs. These messiahs were anointed for the very reason because they were appointed for their office.

There is one anointed that was foretold...

How do you identify the "deliberate goal" of posts?

If I post an exposition of a passage, would that qualify for deletion even though I don't have such intent?

What else can they do? I don't see why it would be illegal. Car dealers do the same.

I made a number of offers and submitted applications with the rent I decided on. The application then was submitted to the owner who decided whether to accept it.

What do you think? Since I have been looking around for a place to live. I have been checking the rental market on a daily basis. I have found that many units are listed for a long time and the rent is decreased regularly, sometimes by as much as $30-50. Real estate agents encourage prospective tenants to make offers and tell them the landlord was willing to negotiate. So the good times are over for landlords, and this will further impact on the prices. Falling rents lead to further falls in prices which in turn leads to more landlord trying to sell at the press of the panic button, leading to even greater oversupply and further drops.

You, everyone, better put your super into cash equivalents else you will find most of it evaporating to a much worse degree than last time in 2008-2009.

RE: What’s going on with the world economy today?

Well, if people have no money to spend the banks will eventually also loose out. If speculation would be taxed most money would go into productive activities that actually create wealth - manufacturing, research and services.

Speculation only creates perceived wealth. You *think* your home is worth so much because someone paid such a price for another, similar home. SO you think you have equity in your home and borrow against it to have a holiday, but a new car, new furniture, a pool, etc. Now, when home prices are on the rise, this creates inflation because it generates an artificial demand based on perceived wealth. However, if some guys start paying less for similar homes, suddenly the equity in your home evaporates. And many people soon will find that they have more debt than their home is worth.

The only way to recover from the crisis would be to reverse what was done over the last decade, when the rich got big tax cuts, while the rest of the people were asked to show wages restraint for the sake of keeping inflation low. This was a big fat lie, for the inflation is not caused by people on low incomes, but by people who speculate. They push up real estate prices, and in turn increase commercial rents, which businesses have to charge on their products. Commercial rent is a significant component in the price. I know someone who was paying $30k/month for her beauty saloon rent. She had to therefore earn $40k/month to break even. Now if her rent was only $5k/month, paying more to her employees would not have been a problem and she could have provided her services a lot cheaper.

But commercial landlords are not willing to negotiate, they most often rather allow their tenants to go bankrupt than negotiate lower rent. And they cannot negotiate because they paid a very high price and the bank expects the repayments.

So why is it that the worker is punished for the crimes of the speculators? Why the home owners are flogged with the interest rate increase when they did no wrong? Maybe because those in the government have a vested interest not to touch these cowboys, for they also own prime real estate, why would they let prices to fall?

The way out of this mess is to tax the rich, remove corporate welfare, boost small businesses by significantly lowering the interest rate for them on their borrowings, and give money to the poor (increase wages, increase welfare) - to reverse the damage done, to lower wealth disparity, which is the problem. This alone would create cashed up shoppers and save business. That money that you take from the rich is not theirs anyway. It was stolen from the lower class by telling fat lies to them, like "trickle-down economy" and blaming them for the inflation.

Pop the bubbles, tax speculation. Put a 90% tax on rent increases, put a 90% tax on price increases.

I don't think many people would complain about $180k median house prices, for that is what it should be, which is 3x the median income.

RE: What’s going on with the world economy today?

Rate payers already rebel against higher water charges here on the Gold Coast. They also spend a lot less in the shops and they are closing down all over the coast. There is only so much load rate payers can carry, especially when the mortgage debt in Australia is over $1 trillion!!!

RE: What’s going on with the world economy today?

EWI (Elliott Wave International) anticipates the biggest financial crisis of the last 300 years. Econmic crisis cause political crisis often leads to right wing governments coming to power. Major wars and world wars are also characteristic of such times, as EWI pointed out. WWII happened because of the Great Depression.

This crisis is due to government intervention in the economy (ie keeping wage growth low, tax cuts for the rich, corporate tax cuts) that causes wealth disparity to grow to unprecedented level. In 1930 1% of the population owned 40% wealth, which means the 99% has very little money to spend (in a healthy economy they own 10%). The extra income earned by the wealthy ends up in speculation, like stocks, assets, commodities. The 99% survives on easy credit, which drives them into debt. The easy credit creates artificially high demand for goods and services, which businesses try to meet by borrowing to boost their operation, so it appears the golden age had come. However, the cut-off point comes when people cannot borrow any more or cut back on spending for other reasons, which leads to a suddden drop in demand, which in turn leads to companies unable to meet their loan repayment obligations, which sends them to the wall, and eventually the banking sector also sinks.

The above example is from the 30's, but it is not much different today. Over here Howard government created a booming economy when they repaid all public debt, but private debt quadrupled during this time. Rudd saved the housing from crash by doubling the first home buyers grand, which created our own subprime crisis. Westpac was the biggest fool carving up the largest slice of the mortgate market.

Now the real estate market will crash. We will soon find out how good it is to depend so much on China that helped out resources sector by their municipal councils borrowing over 2 trillion dollars and built empty cities where nobody lives.

Our own problem is made worse by the government (that struggled with its own debt) privitising the utilities with guaranteed price increases to ensure the buyers' profit. This means we spend more on utilities and have less to spend in the shops that are closing down. High real estate prices and rents led to the collaps of the international student market, as well as I heard that skilled workers are also not keen to come here.

The world economy follows the same pattern as in the 30's. Steep decline followed by "recovery", after which a much steeper decline came. Today during the "recovery" phase private debt was converted to public debt which now leads to countries defaulting rather than banks. Austerity measures create civil unrests. If you think it will not happen here, don't be surprised if it will. We can only pay our debt as long as those who borrowed from us can also pay us.

Our own real estate bubble, which is the biggest in the Western world (and in history) has popped. Prices are falling, and rents also. Lower rents contribute to further falls in prices.

In the complex I live a 3br 2 bthrm townhouse used to cost $320k+, now you can pick them up from $260k.
