RE: He only exists in ur head

Finally a person who doesn't believe in electrons, neutrons, protons, the wind and evolution!!!

RE: bible 'bashers'

What is stopping you? :-)

RE: The true meaning of Jeses' message and what really happened

Translation is an opinion about what the underlying text says. You can translate it literally or with dynamic equivalents.

The bigger job is reconstructing the original manuscripts, which is the job of textual criticism.

Since new discoveries are made almost daily, textual criticism is getting closer and closer to the original autographs.

RE: The true meaning of Jeses' message and what really happened

Because fear sells and they know it. But they don't always use fear. Sometimes they promise you that God will heal you if you send them a thousand dollars, or that when you send them a thousand there is already ten thousand in the mail for you.

RE: The true meaning of Jeses' message and what really happened

You are actually quite correct. The first century religion was very different from what it became later.

RE: The true meaning of Jeses' message and what really happened

This is a misunderstanding of what Yeshua ben Joseph stood for.

There were two streams of religious doctrine in those days. One of them elevated the Torah (divine law) to the position when mechanically keeping it would have brought pleasure to God who in turn would have delivered the Jewish people from under Roman rule. The religious leaders even imposed on the common people the laws that were only required of the priesthood.

The other stream was that you seek relationship with God first, and because of the change of heart, because of your devotion to Him, you obey those laws.

So the former stated that you become a good citizen by keeping the laws, the second that you keep the laws *because* you are a good citizen.

Yehsua ben Joseph rejected the former and made a stand for the latter, which was always the true Jewish religion. Jesus did not think outside the box, he simply called people to *renew* their broken covenant relationship with God.

RE: The true meaning of Jeses' message and what really happened

The Romans didn't really liked to have a Jewish man around who claimed to be the son of David, that is, he claimed he had the right to be the king of the Jews.

The Jewish religious leadership didn't want him because they feared for their own positions blessed and approved by the Romans, and they and didn't trust that Yeshua would be capable to deliver the nation from under Roman rule either. Therefore they delivered him up to the Romans for the sake of saving the nation.

RE: The true meaning of Jeses' message and what really happened

In ancient times "belief" meant more than just head knowledge. It meant you were firm in it and therefore you conducted yourself in a particular way. In the above instance it means those who believed in Yeshua ben Joseph (the real name of the historical person) lived their lives in the same manner - righteously, fully devoted to obeying the laws of God.

RE: The true meaning of Jeses' message and what really happened

I think there is sufficient historical evidence for his existence.

RE: The true meaning of Jeses' message and what really happened

I think the calendar maker was fired from his job, that is the reason the calendar ends on 21st December 2012.

RE: The true meaning of Jeses' message and what really happened

It depends. Are you talking about the mythological Paganised virgin-born god-man saviour Jesus or the historical Jewish man called Yeshua ben Joseph?

I am following the latter.

RE: Which way do you want to go to?????

Quite agree.

RE: bible 'bashers'

Consider that in ancient times marriage often occurred within family. The genetic pool was a lot purer. Families became clans and later on tribes, and tribes formed nations. For example, the Hungarians came from seven tribes.

RE: bible 'bashers'

Have you known any Muslims? I have and had a few friends among them. Their family ties are often much stronger than we have in the West.

RE: bible 'bashers'

Why do you think these people today are worse than those who lived in ancient times. If you knew how people lived and feared for their lives every day you would think we live in Paradise.

RE: bible 'bashers'

LOL. Good one.

RE: bible 'bashers'

Not all of them. I don't care what you don't believe :-)

RE: bible 'bashers'

Now it's time to teach you about the bible ;-)

RE: bible 'bashers'

If I remember correctly, they either have to give the Mormon church a whole year's income or they need to go on a mission for a year. I am not sure about the exact figures. But they have to do it.

RE: bible 'bashers'

LOL. It looks like it was a long time when you went to Sunday school.

You are generalising too much - with too little knowledge :-)

RE: bible 'bashers'

Sorry to everybody else, I don't meant to bible bash any of you, but you may find this little info useful if you meet Mormons with their little black book on the street.

I used to stop and talk to these guys and point them out how wrong they were. Here is a little help. They often point out to you Eph. 2:20 to prove that they are the only legitimate biblical religion:

Ephesians 2:
19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household,
20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,
21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord

So I asked one of them when the epistle was written. He answered, in the first century. OK, let's have a look at the grammar. What does *having been built* mean? At this point he realised something was wrong. He said, "I don't want to look at the grammar". I said, "You need to look at the grammar, because it means the foundation already existed and the building built in the first century". He kept repeating, "I don't want to look at the grammar". And they walked away.

RE: Ongoing Exes

That might be the secret dream of most blokes ;-)

RE: Which way do you want to go to?????

Hey, lovingheart, can I show the right way to you? The Christianity you follow has been polluted by Platonism and Greek Paganism. Souls going to heaven or hell upon death, virgin birth, a god-man Christ, trinity, original sin, etc were all adopted from these. You need to follow the real Jewish Messiah, the historical Yeshua ben Joseph.

RE: Ongoing Exes

My good old mate has a solution to this problem. He has a puppy, which is always happy when he comes home, never complains when he is late, never argues with him, never lectures him about music theory. The puppy never asks for money for a new dress of for make-up or hair dresser, happy with whatever he gives him and follows him wherever he goes. They have a 100% drama free relationship :-)

The woman you are dreaming about exists only in the fairy tales...

RE: Age difference?

This picture of your is much nicer than the drunken one :-)

RE: Age difference?

So, what age difference does the "older than I usually go for" mean? Two years?

RE: Age difference?

I think there is more to it than just techniques. Young guys are often looking for the mother in the older woman. It is also true of younger women going after older guys. It comes down to psychology.

I feel more comfortable with people in their 30's - 40's. According to my ex it is because I am very immature :-) But I could not imagine going out with anyone who is (or looks) older than I. Maybe I should try :-) A friend of mine suggested I should go even for a fat 55 year old woman, they may make good companions. Hmmm... I'd probably rather stay single.

RE: Age difference?

I was debating on the main forum. I am a marathon debater :-)

RE: Age difference?

You look 10 years younger than you are.

RE: Age difference?

I don't know why men would want to chase older women unless they are looking for the mother in them.
