RE: Who is dating who here in CS?

Heck yeah! Come on down! You never know, maybe you can find a sweet gal down here! (I did!) And for you, I'll maybe even dust off the fly rod - Haven't fished streamers for smallmouth in years.

Seriously - we're only about 4 hours away and the Nolichucky is only about an hour and half, depending on where we put in and float to. Far as that goes, the Clinch is only 20 minute and has a good trout population and wouldn't require camping. (Although the Nolichucky wouldn't require a trout stamp since we'd be fishing mostly for bass.) Your choice - let's pick a weekend and I'll make the arrangements. Sound good? handshake

RE: Who is dating who here in CS?

You mean tall and studly and hell on wheels with a spinning rod? Or tall and hairy with a really looooooong... Uh... Canoe?
Or did you mean you're gonna' be a beat down crippled up flatbedder?

Wait! I got it! You wanna' find the greatest gal a guy could ever ask for and trick her into falling for you, like I did, right?laugh

Good to see you, T! handshake

Need to get your butt down here so we can do a weekend canoe float on the Nolichucky and catch a few smallmouth! cheers

Who is dating who here in CS?

I know we've been mentioned several times, but the truth is that Jackson and I are indeed still dating. The fact that we got married on 8/15/07 hasn't changed that. In fact, if she's up for it I 'll think I'll take her out to dinner later on today.

RE: Have you ever been to a CS get together?

Eight years? That's not too bad... I'm guessing you figure it'll be worth the wait and that's all that counts. grin

In the mean time, if you ever make it across the pond look us up and we'll toss some ribs in the smoker grill and toast future good times! cheers

RE: Dear Mods, please can you fix it for us to send more than one flower a day?

Sounds as though she was hoping to be pollinated! laugh

RE: Have you ever been to a CS get together?

Thanks R K! I'll try not to be such a stranger from now on...

cheers

RE: Have you ever been to a CS get together?

You too, Conrad! Still fighting the good fight? laugh

My apologies to the O.P. for the hi-jack, BUT...

Remember how some said that Obama would be president when pigs fly? Well, it's been 100 days and swine flu... laugh

laugh Howdy! handshake

Yep, don't get on CS as much as I used to... Heck, seems like I don't get anywhere as much as I used too! laugh

RE: Have you ever been to a CS get together?

Hiya, Vinny! wave

Yep, fully recovered and back to work for two months now and bemoaning the fact that the rain we're having spoiled my weekend fishing plans, but happy to be alive and kicking when I could just as easily be taking a permanent dirt nap.

Good to see you! handshake

RE: Have you ever been to a CS get together?

Howdy yourself! wave Thanks. We did indeed have a good time. As I mentioned, we went from expecting 25-30 souls to an actual turn out of six, but it was good times none the less. And it was fun watching two very good friends fall for each other.

RE: Have you ever been to a CS get together?

I've been to one last year, just north of Knoxville, Tn. My lovely wife (whom I met on CS) and I organized it. It was great except that we had quite a few last-minute cancellations and the turn out wasn't all that spectacular. Still, because of our picnic, two of the folks who came (one popular member and one former member) were able to get together and - last I heard - were very much in love. yay

We're considering doing it again this year in July, but haven't decided on anything definite, yet.

Thanks! I'm a pretty profound guy. (And you're very astute!laugh )

RE: What's the first thing you do when you wake up?

"What's the first thing you do when you wake up?"

Be damned glad that you did!

RE: Give someone a compliment

Out of all the people I know, the folks here on CS are definitely some of 'em! grin

RE: Niceguyaaa and Fallenangel74 are meeting!!

Let me get this straight - You've been communicating for four years (give or take) and you finally have a chance to meet and this is the first red flag you've had? Wow... Are you still communicating with him? If so, why? I mean why bother?

You're obviously scared to death by all the stories you've seen, read, heard, etc... and have no intention of ever meeting him anywhere - short of maybe a police station - and I can't really say that I blame you. Seems like if something big, like love, was going to happen, it would have been here by now.

At the same time, I guess I don't really see the point of putting all that time and energy into something with zero payoff.

He obviously comes across as a decent sort, otherwise you wouldn't have maintained contact for all these years. From what I've seen in the forums, you're a pretty decent sort yourself. But, for whatever reason, it would appear that you don't really want to meet him face to face and never have.

It would seem that it's time to break things off altogether; If he really is a nice, decent guy it would only be the honorable thing to do, since he obviously is hoping for a chance at something more than you're willing to give. If, on the other hand, he is a closet axe murderer who only picks one victim every four years or so, then you're much better off dumping him now and never communicating with him again. Either way, good or bad, breaking things off completely seems the best way to proceed.

Good luck, I don't envy your situation.

RE: Plagerism

Darn fingers!

RE: Plagerism

Actually Tony, it's TWO ARMS!

(We must be fair and give each arm credit!)laugh

To the O.P.,

Plagerism is potentially a very serious matter, especially in this day and age where electronically displayed original material is "copywrite inferred."

I'd suggest that you respectfully contact the person who re-posted your material and ask if he/she is aware of the seriousness of the offense and take it from there. There are other options I could mention and things you can do to help "protect" your material, but it's a can of worms I'd just as soon not get into in an open forum.

RE: GUN CONTROL....is it a good thing

Uh-oh, Lela! Now they're going to be climbing all over you because doctors weren't designed to kill and maim like guns are!

It's funny how much more dangerous the things that are supposed to help us are than the things that're supposed to kill us, but nobody wants to regulate the things that are supposed to help us regardless of the fact that they kill more of us than the things that're designed to kill us...

RE: GUN CONTROL....is it a good thing

And when knives are outlawed it will be: More bars of soap in the toe of a tube sock = more bludgeonings. Or more stairways = more people being pushed down stairwells. I'm sorry, G, but I just can't quite buy your argument no matter how much I respect you personally.

To be perfectly honest, I'd much rather someone come after me with a gun rather than get close enough to use a knife. Knives don't miss nearly as often as guns do.

And I know from personal experience that it generally takes longer to heal from a serious knife wound than from a bullet to the same area...

RE: GUN CONTROL....is it a good thing

And I happen to think it's a matter of more responsible gun education + more personal discipline = less shootings.

Hope you're well, Graham!

RE: GUN CONTROL....is it a good thing

When the last H-bomb has done it's stuff
And stilled for good the giegercounter's voice
When there's nothing left but just a few of us,
Then will come the moment of my dreadful choice:

Invent the peaceful wheel? Oh dear me, no!
Let those who would assauge the general woe.
I plan to freeze my neighbors to the bone and marrow
By re-inventing the bow and arrow.

(Author unkown, but obviously intelligent.)

RE: GUN CONTROL....is it a good thing

You said the same thing ten or fifteen pages ago and yet you're still in the thick of it. If it bores you as much as you claim I'd think you would have left to do something more productive by now.

(Oh, and by the way, it's Kansan, not K. laugh)

RE: GUN CONTROL....is it a good thing

Hmmm... You berated me for a typo (an added 'd') and then commit two typo's in a row with the same letter. Interesting!

RE: GUN CONTROL....is it a good thing

And yet you're trying to force your views on the rest of us. Why? We're not even related. Surely your ex-husband's (i.,e., YOUR) son is more important to you than the rest of the world?

RE: GUN CONTROL....is it a good thing

Sounds like something California would do, but I don't know for sure if that's actually the state that instituted that particular caveat. Any rational person, of course, would fire the warning shot into the ceiling AFTER taking care of the more pressing business of dealing with an intruder. (Personally, I'd want to make damn sure that the "warning shot" didn't ruin a light fixture or cause a short in the wiring or some other such damage not easily repaired.)

RE: GUN CONTROL....is it a good thing

Indeed, friend! But only with proper provocation and forethought. Otherwise we are in danger of becoming the minority statistics that our misguided opposition resort to to prove our animalistic intentions.

RE: GUN CONTROL....is it a good thing

To the contrary - Our own first lady is quite fond of baring her arms (it's even been on the news). I personally wear sleeveless shirts most of the summer. Never once seen anybody castigated for keeping cool! But, boy oh boy, let one law abiding citizen make a rational argument for keeping his personal firearms and he's branded a maniac! Sheesh!
