Join me in Wishing the Lovely Jackson a Very Happy Birthday!

She claims that birthdays don't mean much to her anymore, but her birthday sure means a lot to me! It's the day that the light of my life came into the world!

Happy birthday, Sweetheart! Your crusty ol' Plainsman loves ya'!

RE: who hate me?

I agree! Apathy, now, has it's uses. For instance, whenever someone tells me I'm ignorant and apathetic, I respond "Yeah? Well I don't know and I don't give a damn!"

RE: Give something to the one above you ..

I'll give him a beer, a good meal and a canoe ride - Provided he eventually gets his handsome self to East Tennessee!

cheers handshake cheers

RE: The Most Deadliest Weapon

Hate is over rated. Without Mankind there wouldn't be any such thing as hate or jealousy or any of the other words that bother me simply because it's too bad we even have a reason for such words to exist...

sigh

RE: Give something to the one above you ..

Gee, no one wants to give me anything!moping

(Actually, I'm guessing that several here would like to give me something, but are just too polite to be that rude on the forums.laugh)

RE: The Most Deadliest Weapon

Mankind... blues

RE: Give something to the one above you ..

Hmmm... Could be I was referring to myself in this case.

In the Chevy Chase film, Wally World is indeed a "made up" place - Kind've a parody of Disney Land. (Didn't realize that was the comedy you were taling about, as I've also heard the term used in American Sit-coms.)

In regular usage it generally refers to Wal-Mart.

RE: Give something to the one above you ..

Welcome to American Slang 101! "Wally World" is used mostly as another (slang) name for Wal-Mart.

Please tell me that I don't have to explain what Wal-Mart is?laugh

RE: Give something to the one above you ..

What can I say? You're Mr. Sensitivity and I'm Mr. Circumspect.laugh

RE: How long before saying "I love you"?

"How long before saying "I love you"?"

I met the lovely Jackson here on CS in January of '07. We were married on August 15th of that year. I think maybe I'll say "I love you" next week... grin

RE: Favourite Christmas Carol ?

The Twelve Days of (Redneck) Christmas is kinda' cute!

And I've always been partial to Bing Crosby's "White Christmas."thumbs up

RE: Give something to the one above you ..

If she ever gets her kiester to East Tennessee, I'll give her a choice of the home-cooked meals mentioned in another thread... grin

RE: I have been advised to do the following...

Yeah, 'cause if you don't unplug it, the cord won't let the dishwasher door close all the way and you'll end up mopping the floor.

Hate it when that happens!mumbling

RE: Anyone....

And don't forget:

'Illegitimus non carborundum'

laugh

RE: Why do people loss interest in CS forums?

I lose interest in the forums when I have to go back and read 14 gazillion pages just to find out why everybody's in such a stink.uh oh

RE: Favourite Christmas Carol ?

I studied the list and honestly could not choose a favorite. Each of those songs - with the exception of "Mary's Boychild" which I'm not familiar with - brings special memories and scenes to mind. As do many others which didn't make the list...

*deeply humbled emoticon*

Thank you...

thumbs up

RE: What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

laugh You know what's funny - to me anyway - is that I'm from Kansas and grew up eating "fried green 'maters" and kinda' like grits, and Jackson was born and raised right here in the heart of the South and has never eaten fried green 'maters and doesn't much care for grits. So much for stereotypes, huh?laugh

RE: What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

Traditional foods are Turkey - the slang term for ThanksGiving over here is "Turkey day" - Ham and stuffing. Sweet potatos or candied yams, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie are perennial favorites that add a special touch to any holiday meal.

Individual customs vary from family to family. When I was young my father and older brothers and I would rise early and go hunting in the morning then return home for the traditional meal. After dinner was over and the dishes were washed, we'd go out hunting again. When I got older, we'd spend the morning watching the Macy's ThanksGiving day parade and then go hunting in the afternoon. In later years, in deference to my father's age, we'd spend the afternoon watching American football and sleeping off a wonderful meal.

I know of some families who had a tradition of playing "touch football" after their ThanksGiving meal and others who would go Christmas shopping. I'd gues that there are nearly as many different customs as there are families...

RE: What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

"What are your plans for Thanksgiving?"

To be honest, I'm not really sure about Thanksgiving day. I'm guessing we'll tie on the feed bag either here at home or with Jackson's step-mom. As for the rest of the weekend, I hope to spend at least part of it hunting wild boar in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.

RE: So whos special forces would you want to help you and your family escape ALIVE

He was even better in "The Quick and the Dead." laugh

RE: So whos special forces would you want to help you and your family escape ALIVE

Sam Elliot.

I once talked with him for nearly two hours when he stopped at a historic site where I was appearing as a civilian scout. Sam is one movie star who can actually DO the stuff he does on film (shoot, fight, ride, etc...) Very impressive man. (And I'm not easily impressed!)

RE: Saturday night

My version of that used to be:

Another Saturday night
And I just had somebody.
Ain't got no money,
'Cause I just got laid...

blushing laugh

RE: Here's the Plan

Speaking of Dud, I haven't seen him in a while - Did Obama stop campaigning so fast that he got stuck somewhere un-mentionable?

rolling on the floor laughing laugh rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Here's the Plan

Damn, Conrad! That is one of the most outstanding 'Dude' impersonations I've ever seen! I'd bet even 'Dud' would think he typed that!laugh rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

RE: On that first date,,,

Yeah, I've had that in the past too. It's kinda' like they were trying to find out if I'm really as poor as my mode of dress would indicate (not realizing that my hat and boots cost more than their entire wardrobe) or if I was just an eccentric oil billionaire or something and only claimed to be a truckdriver. laugh

RE: On that first date,,,

That's only because when you "jokingly" tell them, "I keep all my money wrapped in a tube sock and buried in a coffee can in the back yard." you aren't really joking... laugh

RE: A woman needs to spend/utter 35000 words a day while a man needs 17000.What do u think about this?

"A woman needs to spend/utter 35000 words a day while a man needs 17000.What do u think about this?"

I think, for someone of so few words, the thread title is entirely too long.

RE: Something many adults may "choose" to consider..

My childhood gets better with every year! ...Or maybe my memory gets worse?confused

RE: And they were only..............paper roses

Ok. Ummmm... Everything that Barry Manilow ever recorded?

RE: And they were only..............paper roses

Wow, good ol' Hank Snow, one of the very first Canadian C&W singers!

Hmmm...

How can I tell I love you, Honey, when you're sittin' on my face? - Can't remember the artist

Why don't we get drunk and screw? - Jimmy Buffet

Last night I came in at two with a ten, but at ten I woke up with a two! - Willie Nelson

Ok, so they're not exactly soppy, but they are some of my favorites!
