"You're kidding me! Hell, I'm impressed - I didn't think this beat up old piece of junk would go that fast! Can I have a ticket so my friends will believe it?" (I didn't get the ticket...)
"Truth is, when it's all said and done, I plan on being a long gawddamn ways away from here."
"Hang on, let me re-phrase that - I didn't know I was going to be quoted."
My sock drawer is full, I don't wear ties or sweaters and I'm letting my beard grow so I don't need an electric razor - Could I just have the money and maybe a six-pack of Corona instead?
My deepest respect for your situation. And I can certainly understand why you feel the way you do. I'm probably way off base to suggest that things might have been the same no matter who was president.
I am a truckdriver. In the company I work for, most of the ones that are habitually late or need "talking to" are those with "Obama '08" bumper stickers. I am sure that it's just a coincidence, but they are also the ones asking for more pay for less work and a free dental rider on top of the company provided insurance that they already do not pay for.
The letter is generic. It was not written by me or for me. I think it could be classified as political satire, but there isn't a specific category for that so I posted it under "Current Events, Politics."
I do not have all the answers and I apologize for believing that Obama doesn't either.
I have read recently that the democrats are already trying to figure out how to confiscate personal retirement plans in order to "boost" social security. I'm sorry, but that scares the hell out of me. I have also read where Mr. Obama has gone on record wanting to increase the excise tax on ammuntion by 1000% thereby making it next to impossible for the average person, hunter/non-hunter alike, to be able to purchase it. That also scares the hell out of me.
I sincerely hope that Mr. Obama turns out to be the saviour that so many claim he is - I will gladly be the first in line to admit that I was wrong about him - but until he does, I will continue to distrust a man whose "values" are nearly polar opposites of my own.
And it's said that life is like a lantern Just a dream, we're reaching for the stars. Can't you see how little we really matter? We are only searching for what we really are...
And it follows; We are only helpless children Ever changing, like sunlight through the trees. It's a long road, we must cling to one another; Help yourselves to each other, that's the way it's meant to be.
Hmmm... There's only one lady on CS that I'm interested in romancing and it must have worked because she married me last year.
She is my life, my love, my very reason for living. I can't imagine life without her, nor would I want to. I could live for four more years or forty or four hundred and they would all be spent trying in vain to re-pay the joy she has brought to my world. She is my everything!
I love you, J! All ways, always!
(For those not familiar with myself and my lovely lady, we remain on CS because; A. This is where we met, B. The ability to send each other virtual flowers and, C. The friends we have made and continue to make on the forums.)
Wasn't really looking, but responded to a thread she had participated in then e-mailed her with a couple of additional comments. That was on Jan. 3rd, '07. The rest, as they say, is history. (We were married on August 15th, '07)
Happier than I've ever been in my life or that I thought it possible to be. Can't imagine life without her and wouldn't want to... She is my everything!
As the Manager of a small business that employs 80 people, I have finally resigned to the fact that Barrack Obama will be our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.
To compensate for the tax increases I figure our customers will have to see a price increase of about 8%, but due to the dismal state of our economy we can’t increase prices right now, so we’ll have to lay off 7 of our employees instead. This problem has really been eating at me, as I believe we’re all family here and I just don’t know how to choose who will have to go. Everyone has families and our employees are good people.
So this is what I did… I walked through our parking lot and found 7 "Obama ‘08" bumper stickers on our employees’ cars, and decided that these employees will be the first to be laid off. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change, so I gave it to them.
I'm sitting down here at Southern States Farm & Home Supply on Cathedral (across from the distillery) waiting to unload and I could sure use a cup of coffee! Heck I'll even pay for it!
Made it home, but just for a few hours - gotta' take off again in 15-20 minutes - Jackie has been pretty well thrilled at all the well wishes, so keep 'em coming in! She's a very special lady and this has been a real treat for her.
Sure do love you, J! I'm sure glad that we finally found us!
RE: Your Quotes, Not What Others Wrote
It's one thing to know how to tell a story. It's quite another to know when to tell it. Unfortunately, most folks never quite figure out either...
