RE: Your Quotes, Not What Others Wrote

It's one thing to know how to tell a story. It's quite another to know when to tell it. Unfortunately, most folks never quite figure out either...

RE: Making others "happy"...

It is not up to us to make others happy. It is up to us to be happy ourselves and hope it rubs off on others.professor

RE: Your Quotes, Not What Others Wrote

"There don't seem to be too many folks around right now - Guess we're just gonna' have to play with ourselves!"

sigh

RE: Your Quotes, Not What Others Wrote

Here's a few more:

"You're kidding me! Hell, I'm impressed - I didn't think this beat up old piece of junk would go that fast! Can I have a ticket so my friends will believe it?" (I didn't get the ticket...)

"Truth is, when it's all said and done, I plan on being a long gawddamn ways away from here."

"Hang on, let me re-phrase that - I didn't know I was going to be quoted."

RE: Your Quotes, Not What Others Wrote

Just a few of the more memorable ones that come to mind:

"You can quote me if you'd like, but I'm afraid it won't make you sound very credible..."

"Hmmm..."

"Beats the hell outta' me, John!"

"I fell out of an airplane - How the hell do you THINK I got down here?!!"

"Huh?"

"Nope."

"Yep."

"I stepped on a real springy land-mine - How the hell do you THINK I got up here?!!"

"Yes, Dear."

"No, Dear."

"Well, you can try it if you want to, John, but I think I'd rather take my chances with the alligators."

"Watch out for that... Damn! I was trying to avoid the hole and didn't see the freakin' tree limb!"

"Oh, real funny, God!"

Well, I'm glad someone's enjoying my misfortune because I sure as hell ain't - When you get done immitating a hyena would you mind tossing me a rope?"

"Please don't quote me - I'd never want anyone to know that I actually said something that stupid!"

RE: Think of 3 Cool Things About Yourself, What Are They?

1. I don't think of myself as "cool."

2. I have no idea how to answer this because I've never been in the habit of doing something because it's "cool."

3. I'm no great shakes. If there is anything about me that is cool, then it's up to others to say what it is because I haven't got a clue.

RE: Xmas time....what would you ask to Santa Claus ?

Dear Santa:

My sock drawer is full, I don't wear ties or sweaters and I'm letting my beard grow so I don't need an electric razor - Could I just have the money and maybe a six-pack of Corona instead?blues

Note From a Small Business Owner...

My deepest respect for your situation. And I can certainly understand why you feel the way you do. I'm probably way off base to suggest that things might have been the same no matter who was president.

I am a truckdriver. In the company I work for, most of the ones that are habitually late or need "talking to" are those with "Obama '08" bumper stickers. I am sure that it's just a coincidence, but they are also the ones asking for more pay for less work and a free dental rider on top of the company provided insurance that they already do not pay for.

The letter is generic. It was not written by me or for me. I think it could be classified as political satire, but there isn't a specific category for that so I posted it under "Current Events, Politics."

I do not have all the answers and I apologize for believing that Obama doesn't either.

I have read recently that the democrats are already trying to figure out how to confiscate personal retirement plans in order to "boost" social security. I'm sorry, but that scares the hell out of me. I have also read where Mr. Obama has gone on record wanting to increase the excise tax on ammuntion by 1000% thereby making it next to impossible for the average person, hunter/non-hunter alike, to be able to purchase it. That also scares the hell out of me.

I sincerely hope that Mr. Obama turns out to be the saviour that so many claim he is - I will gladly be the first in line to admit that I was wrong about him - but until he does, I will continue to distrust a man whose "values" are nearly polar opposites of my own.

RE: All I know for sure.

There's room for a line about "It's not dead, it's dormant." but I'll leave it for someone else and just toss in the only "real truth" I know:

For every incontrovertable truth, there is someone who will dispute it.

Me too.

RE: Why Do Guys Lie

He was right. It was an error. Or was that just an innocent, yet highly appropriate slip?

RE: Funny little differences tween Yankees and us Americans in the South!

Northern girls say "Yes, you may."

Southern girls say "Yes, y'all may."

And I'm still the same way...

RE: The Bottom Line on Single Sites.

And it's said that life is like a lantern
Just a dream, we're reaching for the stars.
Can't you see how little we really matter?
We are only searching for what we really are...

And it follows; We are only helpless children
Ever changing, like sunlight through the trees.
It's a long road, we must cling to one another;
Help yourselves to each other, that's the way it's meant to be.

RE: Whose the most romantic guy on CS?

Hmmm... There's only one lady on CS that I'm interested in romancing and it must have worked because she married me last year.

She is my life, my love, my very reason for living. I can't imagine life without her, nor would I want to. I could live for four more years or forty or four hundred and they would all be spent trying in vain to re-pay the joy she has brought to my world. She is my everything!

I love you, J! All ways, always!

(For those not familiar with myself and my lovely lady, we remain on CS because; A. This is where we met, B. The ability to send each other virtual flowers and, C. The friends we have made and continue to make on the forums.)

RE: How many of you ....

Yep! Sure did!

Wasn't really looking, but responded to a thread she had participated in then e-mailed her with a couple of additional comments. That was on Jan. 3rd, '07. The rest, as they say, is history. (We were married on August 15th, '07)

Happier than I've ever been in my life or that I thought it possible to be. Can't imagine life without her and wouldn't want to... She is my everything!

Note From a Small Business Owner...

As the Manager of a small business that employs 80 people, I have finally resigned to the fact that Barrack Obama will be our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.

To compensate for the tax increases I figure our customers will have to see a price increase of about 8%, but due to the dismal state of our economy we can’t increase prices right now, so we’ll have to lay off 7 of our employees instead. This problem has really been eating at me, as I believe we’re all family here and I just don’t know how to choose who will have to go. Everyone has families and our employees are good people.

So this is what I did… I walked through our parking lot and found 7 "Obama ‘08" bumper stickers on our employees’ cars, and decided that these employees will be the first to be laid off. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change, so I gave it to them.

If you have a better idea, let me know.

Sincerely,

A small business owner. sigh
